  • i use free videos in an app called FitOn. some are only 20 min.
  • is there a reason why your goal is ketosis? Why not simply eat in a calorie deficit?
  • Maybe it's more of a proportions thing? If your arms / neck / legs got smaller but you lost fewer inches around the waist?
  • I don't eat chips very often at all because they aren't filling enough for the calories. But someimtes I'll just weigh my Lays Potato Chips on a food scale and stop at one serving.
  • I think you'd run a strong risk of eliminating your deficit from the previous five days over the weekend. My "cheat day" tends to be a day at maintenance every now and then, but certainly not weekly.

  • move THEN rest!? i sleep better and am less anxious / frustrated when I have gotten movement.
  • they are delicious
  • I tried carb cycling for like 48 hrs after watching some guy on Instagram. I was so mean and miserable on my low carb day that I quit. Because by “low” they mean LOW. I also was informed here by some of the pros that this is really a body building thing and not for most of us.
  • Are you implying that a physician should not let someone know that their size is a concern and it would be beneficial to lose weight? And if they do, they deserve a negative review online?
  • What’s up with the two a days!? Do you enjoy it that much or do you want to lose weight as much as possible? I’d say cut those out then you won’t need to eat so much. I loved OTF when I was a member. Their movements were fairly repetitive though which can be tough on joints so I’m not sure I’d want to go 5-6 x a week…
  • everyone else hit the main points. addition: are you counting calories?
  • Maybe the goal is not just for them to be aware of it. Maybe it really matters to you either in the relationship, for the sake of the types of activities you want to do long term together, for the health risks, etc. Therefore you actually want to request that they address the weight and work towards better health. In a…

  • Depending on the context of the conversation, potentially disagree. If the people closest to us can’t point out something true about our health — and at this point culturally some people even think doctors don’t have the right—where does that leave us? Now, if this was done in a cruel way to cause emotional hurt, of course…

  • Keep in mind that NONE of us are tracking perfectly. The entries we find on MFP aren’t always fully accurate. The calorie count on the bags of food we buy only have to be accurate within a RANGE. Sometimes the first step is being willing to say “i am trying to log accurately and i thought i was there but it seems im at…
  • Don’t punish yourself. Some people might say “for the next few days I will eat a bigger deficit to help make up for it” and that would work for them. But since your history is panic / quit, do nothing but meet your goals for TODAY. It’s ok!
  • How long have you been stuck? How much weight have you lost so far and over what amount of time?
  • What did you put in as your daily activity level? What if you tried lowering your activity level to the next level down (less active than you thought)?
  • You’re letting the number control you. Carry on!
  • Adjust thine expectations!

  • What do you have your “activity level” set at? There’s something to be said for not realizing that you are more sedentary than you used to be over time. If you are female and weigh yourself during different times of the month and are pre menopausal, that can also mask progress because the number of the scale shifts during…
  • I am an adult. If my husband wants to have ice cream and offer me some, I can say no. Hard stop. Some relationships were founded over socializing over food. So for some, continuing to do this is familiar and nostalgic. ALSO, while I tend to only need to lose 10 lb or so when I move from maintenance back to deficit at…
  • If it does, then they are mimicking an adult in their life
  • plan what you are going to eat the night before and pre log it all into the app
  • What if your cheat day didn’t go above your maintenance calories? That’s one way to think about it. The risk for me in going way above maintenance on a “splurge” is that one day of absolute splurging makes it more likely I will eat like that for a week or two before getting back on track.

  • I’ll change the conversation a bit — how often are you getting rigorous exercise? Not necessarily at a gym — I get some good workouts in in front of my tv. That can provide some serious dopamine (improved mood) and help you sleep more deeply.
  • Street food will make it really hard to count calories. Can you do some meal prepping on the weekends so you can eat at home during the week?
  • gaining fat is not the same thing as gaining a few numbers on the scale. those are related but not the same.
  • 13 lb in that amt of time sounds high! I’m curious to hear what the pros have to say. How big is your surplus? (i.e. how many calories above maintenance are you eating?)
  • THIS. Don’t overthink it. If a pattern of more active and less active works, then carry on.
  • The number on the scale going up doesn’t just reflect fat gain. It reflects food leftover in your intestines, hydration, menstrual cycle changes inside the body, all sorts of things. So if you’re telling yourself that an occasional rise in your weight (woke up 2 lbs heavier for example) means you put on 2 lb of fat, you…
