Pft. When I point this out I get reported... :#

I think you're fine, unfortunately it is likely to slow down on its own. So I say, take it as long as you can get it.

Could you get her to be more active? The walks are great, but it'd be nice if she had an activity she did by herself with people her own age. I get that she isn't sporty but at 11 there are a lot of options. Running, soccer, even stuff at the local rec center like climbing. My parents were probably a lot like you are your…

I'd rather compete over things I can control (workouts, steps) rather than things I can't (scale weight).

These folks said what I would say. Food scale. Patience.

I gain/lose about 6 lbs during the day. I am lightest mid-afternoon post-workout and pre-dinner (probably dehydrated). Then I "gain" 4 lbs from eating dinner. And "lose" 2 lbs sleeping overnight. Most of these are all water or volume of food related. Agree it's best to weigh in the same clothes at the same time of day.…

My eggs are almost never what MFP says "1 egg" is. Sometimes less, most of the time more. Peanut butter is always more than I think, even when I use a tablespoon. But using a food scale is SO MUCH EASIER than using a tablespoon, I love my scale now. Even a can of beans will sometimes have more/less in it than it says. Same…

Everyone funds studies to promote their own product. Like minniestar55 above said, it's not that Nike really has your health and best interest in mind. They just want to sell you more products. I mean, Coca Cola also sells bottled water, but we don't question studies telling us to stay hydrated. Big corn conglomerates will…

I can't tell exactly what you are asking... But I'll say measurements can be as inaccurate as anything else, hard to measure in the same place each time. That's why spacing them out and not taking them too seriously can help. But there are also places where you are going to measure where even if you are in some miracle of…

What are your goals? Aesthetics? Is there some other sport/activity you do that you want your lifting to compliment?
-
Different categories. I've found leg workouts to really HELP my running. I actually love the feeling of running when my legs are sore from lifting the day before, it feels like the run shakes them out. It also feels like lifting reduces my running pains so I feel it helps prevent injury. Any reason you are splitting? Could…

I unsynced my step/fitness tracker from MFP because I felt it was giving me inflated burns for everything. However, there are a lot of folks with FitBit who have used it to lose/maintain their weight and swear by its accuracy. I have a theory it's got some multiplier for my being obese and is off for that. Anyways, moral…

No gym with a stair machine?

This is what I thought of as well, get your thyroid tested.

This. Also, if you were writing this about your spouse instead of your grandfather, you'd probably be getting a lot of folks telling you you can't really make someone else lose weight or eat healthier. They have to want it for themselves. Carbs themselves aren't the issue, your granddad is overweight because he eats too…

I don't know why everyone is questioning the protein amount. Hopefully you are doing some progressive resistance training to take the most advantage of it. Granted this is only a single study: http://ajcn.nutrition.org/content/early/2016/01/26/ajcn.115.119339.abstract?sid=78fc4efb-e348-43c3-9701-2a59be984e27 It seems there…

Three quarters of a bag of peanut butter M&Ms. I meant to spread it out over time not eat most of it in a single day. Anyways, NOW it's gone and I've learned I can't be trusted to portion that out by myself anytime soon. :)

I see we are twinsies again! Easier for me in the beginning this time. But then the inevitable 'fall of the wagon' happens. Got back on. Then fell off. So weight sort of at a standstill due to such inconsistency. I am logging all these binges, but the #'s are bad and explain why I am not losing and should consider myself…

Maybe set some new goals that aren't weight loss related? Is there some fitness thing you enjoy or would like to try? Try to set up goals for yourself that are based on things you can accomplish rather than the scale weight which will be finicky and could fluctuate too much based on water/hormones. Could you get podcasts…

Plan. Incorporate treats. Not necessarily every day, but I remind myself I can certainly wait four days before I have a burrito and don't need to eat it TONIGHT. High protein/high fiber foods helps me feel satiated. Having a not-too-aggressive calorie goal keeps me from really being hungry. Only emotional hunger cues I…

Call someone "ugly" versus "too pretty". Call someone "stupid" versus "too smart." Call someone "awkward" versus "too charming." Skinny is seen as a positive in our society. That's why calling someone skinny is acceptable and calling someone fat is seen as negative/insulting (even if true, yes).

How long have you been eating at a deficit and doing this hiking? Are you losing weight at a pace that is in line with your goals?
-
You can power walk 10 minute miles? Really? You should consider entering in the Olympics for race walking. I am currently jogging 15:30 minute/miles. I don't want any new runners posting on here to think 10 min-miles are slow, they are not.
-
I was actually losing weight faster when I was walking only than when I added running. I run for mental health, but think it has limited impact on my weight loss progress. It can in some people make them hungrier and more likely to overeat. For me sometimes I think I am less active the rest of the day if I am tired from…

I think the point people are trying to make is...reducing calories eaten by 500 is something anyone can do. All it takes is willpower. To say that all it takes is willpower to go running/cycling/elliptical for 500 calories 7x a week is patently false. Someone can have all the willpower they want but lack the fitness in…

This!

I guess I meant more like someone complaining, and then saying "you're too pretty to sympathize" I didn't mean not understand like they weren't intelligent. Obviously calling someone pretty and stupid...is just calling someone stupid, and is mean.

Same. I use MFP to log and the math generally adds up. Usually what all the numbers predict my loss will be is what I lose. Unfortunately, I tend to eat a lot more than MFP recommends. So my actual average is higher. Still working on that.
-
When you set your goals on MFP it should be setting up a guided process for you. I'd suggest picking a goal of .5 lb a week of 1 lb a week. The faster you lose, the more muscle you lose. Also the more modest your goal, the more you can eat. Then...just eat however many calories MFP tells you to eat. Log all your food. Go…
