I was 40, hovering around 190 with a sedentary lifestyle, and had just had a miscarriage. I had really felt terrible and exhaused while pregnant and thought to myself "I really need to be in much better shape if I want to be trying to have kids at this age." Been at it about 9 months and am down about 33 lbs feeling…

Good for you! Kids learn to do what you do. My 3yo eats his broccoli and carrots because mom does and he also likes to imitate me exercising. I feel good about the example we are setting for him.

Wow, fantastic inspiration! You look healthy, strong and beautiful!

great motivation!

congratulations! That is a great feeling. As far as improving time, I did some HIIT and found that helped me drop my 5k time from about 31 mins to about 27 mins. Keep it up!

I will put in my two cents for "Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn" by Penny Simkin. She's a well respected doula and childbirth educator. Definitely slanted towards non-medicated childbirth but gave me a lot of information and facts that I found very useful. FWIW, I still had an epidural when I had my son in 2009.

l lost a baby a year ago at 12 weeks, and it was devastating. I agree with the others that you need to give yourself time to grieve the loss. My MC was a turning point for me in getting serious about taking care of my health and my body, and it is partly what brought me to MFP. I used the "opportunity" of no longer being…

Congratulations! Just this morning I dropped below 31% BF, which puts me in the "average" category for the first time!

A co-worker I see only occasionally gets on the elevator with me yesterday and says "well, hello Skinny!" Made my day.

I'm doing a "Healthy Challenge" for the next 6 weeks, where I get points for each of the following accomplishments: Eat a healthy breakfast 2 cup of fruit a day 3 cups of vegetables a day 1 serving whole grain per day brush and floss each day 7 hours of sleep each night 4.5 hours of moderate or vigorous exercise per week…

congratulations! I am trying to decide whether to train for a faster 5k or 10k time, or train for distance and do a half...

Congratulations! A great way to start off the new year!

Love this! So much common sense....

I went up about 5 lbs over the holidays, and have dropped about half of that in the past week. I chose eat whatever I wanted for those 2-3 weeks, but am actually pretty happy to be back on the wagon. It all tasted quite yummy, but my goodness- the lethargy and puffiness from all those sweets and salty, rich food was really…

I asked a similar question a few weeks ago http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819720-dumbell-lifting-for-women i did stage 1 of nrolfw, and i am now starting stronglifts but modifying for dumbells instead of a barbell

Congrats! Although imperfect, BMI can be a good benchmark for most folks to gauge their progress. Your hard work is paying off!

congratulations, what a great way to start the new year!

Yup. She was a ringer, though. She'd been a track star in college.

I love this. Such a great sentiment and healthy perpective. I remember being in a footrace with my 70 year old grandmother when I was 8 and her having to slow down to let me win. I want to be like that when I am her age...

I did 30DS this fall and am halfway through week 2 of RI30. I seem to be doing 3 days on, 1 day off. Each workout seems a little bit longer than 30DS, but that might be my imagination, or the warmup/cooldown is longer? I am using heavier weights for RI30 (7.5- 12.5 lbs) than I did for shred, which makes it a harder upper…

He's a keeper!

Thanks for this, I thought it was just me. I like the idea of sticking with the larger compound moves. Back to basics can't be a bad thing.

Thanks! I have all my logs from NROLFW and started taking pics and measurements regularly after I lost the first 10 lbs. I am a spreasheet queen now.
