As pewpewkapow said, check out reddit's r/keto (and if you lift, check out r/ketogains). They have all the info you need on the keto diet. They can help you out if you have trouble. I've been on keto since Jan this year and lost 27 lbs so far. Think of it as a lifestyle change, not a diet.

I miss our meat cuts. I ****ing hate pork. I get angry when there is no convenience in "convenience stores" here. Also, I ****ing hate Lindex. They are the worst when it comes to textiles. Where are we, the 18th century? The fabric is so thick and rough and the ****ers shrink so easily and all the clothes are ridiculously…

This sounds awful. It sounds like our governement is making excuses to take a profit from our resignations. Resigning your US citizenship was always a huge deal. You don't just give it up. The fact that the consolate wants interviews before the final decision is just a waste of time and money. They also probably want to…

New small rant. The whole time I've been here in Sweden I've had problems with certain orders/ purchasing foodstuffs and my fiance has had problems with his workplaces. Nobody understand what it means to do ****ing inventory. I'm really mad right now because I ordered a damn Samsung Galaxy S5 in blue and it's out of stock…

It's unfortunate about the finances, but, I'm glad you're doin' something about it. I hope your husband helps you along with the admissions and help 'n stuff. I had to rely on my fiance too to figure out what was what.

You qualify under article 10 for having family members in Germany/EU territory. http://www.hochschulstart.de/index.php?id=3490&L=1 Also available to you are "admissions free" courses. http://www.hochschulstart.de/index.php?id=3607&L=1 regarding that statement, a link to this site has been given. I think it is easier to…

I'm not sure. I'll look into it.

I understand. It's not easy. I didn't finish my B.S degree in Physics when I moved. I am basically right now sitting on my *kitten* taking random course and self studying Swedish so I can get back to finishing my degree. I know it's my fault for leaving early, but I wouldn't of had it any other way. I didn't really want to…

In my experience, I did move for love too. You and I gave up a whole lot (leaving the Bay Area) to come to the EU. I have felt home sick on and off since I got home from Easter. But, before I even got to Sweden, I knew at the time that moving there would be best for the both of us. If my fiance (unemployed and unfinished…

I know I had trouble finding friends in my hometown of 80k too. But, living close to college made things better. I hope that we move close to Stockholm soon. I'd like to have college friends again and I'm sure my fiance would appreciate some cool new friends too. Story from yesterday, even my brother in law alienated me at…

Hey! It’s been a long time! Drinking in Sweden is like a ritual. I have an ex-pat friend who lives on the top floor of an apartment with the balcony facing the main street in town. On the 4th of July, she, my fiancé, and I sat there watching dozens of people going in to Systembolaget and getting several cases of beer/wine.…

Awesome! I'm so happy for you! :DDDDD

I hear ya on the in-laws. It's the language barrier crap... Mostly. Otherwise they're like everyone else, need to drink alcohol to have fun or talk about things. (As if they ever talk about anything interesting. I hate Swedish politics.) Then again, my father-in-law just hit his 40s, so the generational difference is vast…

Particular expat rant from yesterday. So, my fiance's friend decided to throw a party for ex and current co-workers of a bathhouse in town. I was invited and another two expat friends were as well. I was like "Oh great, it's one of these parties again" because my fiance's friends never invites good company. They came over…

Th-thoroughly grossed out.

I know where you're coming from, being I used to live close to SF. I've been eating kebab pizzas here in Sweden. They just taste soo good! The cookies and pastries here aren't to die for, but it's the breeeeeeaaaaaaaad. XD

Sweden has quite the smorgasbord (hehe) of culinary culture. The Swedes are very much into meat, fish, and coffee breaks. Pickled herring was something I got into after tasting it for my first Christmas. I wasn't much for fish before then, but man, the herring got me. XD The Swedes also like tubed foods: tubed cheese,…

Wow, talk about communal responsibility.

-Good ethnic food. Swedes can't into ethnic food. They like it bland and Swedishified. No Mexican food in this country. -lack of Asian markets. I enjoy Japanese sweets and many Chinese dim sum plates. -Missing the crockpot... -cheap lamb. They're using Middle Eastern immigrants as an excuse to drive up prices. 299kr…

Current rant is the ****ty rules for getting a driver's license in Sweden. Not an EU citizen? Can't swap. American? TOO BAD. It's like they think we suck at driving or something. So, I vocally curse at Swedish drivers who keep cutting me off at crosswalks. (it happens often.) And curse at them for somehow getting their…

Hi! I'm Nicole and I'm from Livermore, California. I currently live in Strängnäs, Sweden. I live with my fiance, work, and study here. I work as a home language teacher and currently studying Swedish history before I go back to Physics. You may also know me as the one who started the American Expat thread. :P
-
Yes! Great idea!
-
I am glad I started this thread. It's nice to feel that I'm not alone in Europe. :) Welcome everyone.
-
Wow, that totally sucks. But, when you get your UK citizenship, your passport is like a ticket to live/work wherever in the EU. I get the same questions at work and in public. Why are you here? School? Internship? B-but California is the best! They never think of love. ;)
-
You are so lucky. Swedish people are very cliquey. It's hard to "get in."

Things could have changed. My mom is originally from El Salvador and she had to give up her citizenship to get US citizenship. My uncle's Cambodian wife I think is giving up hers as well. I'm not sure. *shrug

2 months old! They grow so fast... *sniffle* Yup, they're the same thing. Yeah, I like that "mamaledig" or "papaledig" is so generous. It gives parents time to raise their kids and afford it. I wish America had that too. A lot of kids would be better off with it.

Some countries do not recognize dual/multi citizenship, like the U.S.
