48 here and feeling fit!

No, never.. The closest I'll come is what I have: I have my 2 daughters' infant footprints on my back and their name is above each set. The names are in my wife's handwriting.

I'm with you.. 2009 V-Star here..

Yep.. 48 here..I started in July of 2102, but got injured 6 weeks into it (knee), so I had to back off and ease back into the exercise game. Been working on it full time since October/November 2012, injury free. So far, I've completed Insanity/ Les Mills Pump hybrid and I'm 8 days from finishing Les Mills Combat. Loving…

I'm actually working on Combat/Pump hybrid schedule.. I have 9 days until I finish Combat, so I'm trying to plan my next move.. Pump is good, it just doesn't offer the cardio the HIIT programs offer. If you want to tone your your body with weights and not worry about cardio on those days, Pump is a great substitue.. In my…

I had knee issues with month 2 Plyo. I could do most everything in Month 1, but Max Plyo wrecked me. After taking time off to heal, I tried to modify and even that wasn't helping. I finally took that one routine off the schedule and modified others and made it through.. Knee issues might be common early on, but if the pain…

I have them all also.. Great extra workouts.. All the folks in my F/B challenge group that didn't get the extra workouts have all kicked themselves and have since ordered them.
-
I have graduated Pump and I'm on day 38 into Combat now.. For cardio, Combat is the shizz!!! (And, I've done Insanity) Combat is just pure FUN to do.. I'm currently working on a Pump/Combat hybrid calendar I'm going to use after I finish Combat.. If I didn't love Les Mills programs, I sure wouldn't be thinking of doing…

If you want a program that will offer some cardio results close to Insanity, but also some upper body lifting (not anywhere like P90X, but still some decent upper workouts) you might want to look into Les Mills Combat. The combat cardio routines are awesome!! But, if you get the package with the extra workouts, you get…

Go for it!! My wife started running in Nov of 2011. After a couple weeks of running around the neighborhood, she decided she wanted to try a 5K and signed up for one in Jan of 2012. She ran and finished it. She then started thinking bigger. She signed up for, ran and completed her first Half-Marathon in April 2012 down in…

Thanks to that @$$hole Bettman and a bunch of Idiot Suits in Atlanta, I no longer have a home team. My Thrashers may not have been a winning team, but we loved them anyway.

It's an awesome program, but it is called Insanity for a reason.. Don't let that scare you away from one of the best programs out there though.. I was three weeks away from my 48th birthday when I started Insanity last year. I didn't work my way up to it, I just "jumped off the couch" and started into it.. I was actually…

Les Mills Combat - Combat 60 Live... What a blast!!!
-
I have a very old Polar F1.. Only a couple buttons and only holds 1 workout's worth of data. Can't get much more user friendly than that. :) My wife has an F7 (FT7?) A little more to it and it holds a lot more data.. But, we really like our Polars..

The most accurate way to figure it out is to get a heart rate monitor. Since everyone has a different body composition and the amount of effort you put into each routine will drastically change the amount of kcals burned during a session. On a VERY generic scale, you can look at 100 kcals burned for every 10-15 minutes if…

The cardio on Combat is more than P90X.. I'm constantly thankful I did Insanity because I think it prepared me for the longer duration Combat routines. You won't regret getting Combat...
-
Because everyone burns kcals at a different rate and the amount of effort you put into each workout is different, even day to day, the only way to know for sure what you are burning, is to get a heart rate monitor and input your body stats. Let it tell you what you burned. Point in case: I did the same DVD'd routine last…

I finished a Pump/Insanity hybrid in December.. Now, I'm doing Combat as my primary program, but also doing the longer Pump routines on the weekends for a little extra.. Love pump.. I'm one of the few guys that didn't want to bulk up, but tone up and Pump is perfect!!
-
I drink 3-4 cups a day.. I put some creamer in it, but just enough to get a taste. If I don't drink it, I'm a complete @$$ so, everyone likes me better when I have it. :)

Just finished Day 23 of 60 and still loving this program.. The burn is awesome and although the routines are intense, they are fun too.. This is the first program I've done that I actually look foward to the longer duration routines..

If you have knee issues, be VERY careful with Max Plyo.. I finally had to take it off the schedule and just do one of the others in it's place because of my knee..
-
At this moment, my top pick is Les Mills Combat!! It is the MOST fun I have ever had doing cardio. As much as I loved Insanity, I also hated it.. With t his program, I actually look foward to getting up every morning at 4:00 am and doing the workout.. And, the longer the workouts (45 and 60 minutes over the 30 minute) the…

My last post double posted, so I'm doing this to get rid of it. :)

Enjoy it.. It's an awesome program!! Finished it last year and besides some pretty big modifications I had to make after a knee injury, I loved the entire program.. You may not see much movement on the scale during the 1st month.. Don't let that get to you.. Most of us didn't.. Month 2 is where the big changes come.. But,…

The results are going to be up to you.. How hard you push during each work out... For month 1, you may some some inches lost, but you may not see very much weight loss during that month.. Some folks did, but most saw more NSV's (non-scale victories) than lbs/kg's gone.. Month 2 is where you'll see the pounds drop and the…

Personally, Ab ripper X was a lot harder on me than Insanity's ab routine was.. Maybe do X one time and Insanity Abs the next and swap it out each time to keep it fresh..
-
Yes, it will work you hard!! But, the results you want to see will also come during Month 2.. I've heard it said before, Month 1 routines are getting you ready so you don't die during Month 2. :) Good luck with it and don't be scared!! Face it everyday and in 29 more days, you'll be more 10 times awesome than you are…

I've done some P90x (didn't finish due to surgery) I've also done Insanity, Les Mills Pump and I'm currently doing Les Mills Combat. If you want to build muscle, P90X is great.. Awesome program to bulk up.. If you want to lose fat and tone up with cardio, Insanity is your ticket. It is intense and you will have to work at…
