What do you mean by "very slowly"?
-
Edited Oh, that's normal. It doesn't add on calories for your exercise until you do/log it. The 'goal' doesn't actually change. It is approximately the same number every day, you "net" your goal. What it means is that, before exercise, your body is getting 1240 calories to power all activity (tissue maintenance and…

Change your loss per week, then change it back?

I'm lactose intolerant, although not completely. I still eat cheese, although not as much. I can't do yogurt very well. I don't bother with milk replacements much. If there is something I really want (like ice cream), I'll take lactase. Even 3 times a day, it ends up cheaper than buying special products.

If they eat normally the rest of the time, I doubt it would harm them to have a calorie budget for a weekend snack.

He promoted (male and female) circumcision to the US too. *Shudder*

I'm adding my chart, for a female comparison. The spike starting 04/09 was me being sick. I switch between maintenance and 0.5 lb/week loss, depending on how my cycle affects my appetite.
-
I've been buying the 100 calorie bags too. Best thing I've ever found. I need to add more to my grocery list, I'm down to my last bag. :(
-
Gut answer, no. If the higher cost causes them to go without insurance, everyone else will be paying even more.
-
I log everything because everything counts. That doesn't mean I never go (really far) over my calorie goal, I just stay honest.

Quick BMI, 21.9. I wouldn't say that is too thin. If you were aiming for a BMI of 19, it might be a little too much. Right around 22 is a great place to be.

Some people lose a lot, some don't. I'm down to the size I was at like 14, but it is proportional to the shrinkage of the rest of my body.
-
I have heard that intermittent fasting is great for cholesterol levels. The stuff floating around in your bloodstream is the fat-based fuel your body will run on when it can't get enough energy (or get enough quickly enough) from glucose and glycogen.

My personal experience was that many of my more troubling symptoms (thin-PCOS, I had crazy irregular cycles, painful cysts, and hot flashes) decreased in severity when I cut back on dairy. I think withdrawing it from my diet triggered my mild lactose intolerance but I don't mind. Most mammals don't make very much lactase…

I eat at maintenance for a few days

I agree with the 1 day suspension totally, and about talking about how he needs to think for himself when other kids tell him to do something. I am just hesitant when I think that it could have been a 5 day suspension. I don't think a kindergartener would still connect their suspension to the original infraction at a deep,…

When I spoke to the principal on the phone, he told me that (when the principal asked how he would feel) my son didn't see a problem with eating it himself. I think if this instigator kid told him to eat it himself, he probably would have.
-
Oh no, he's not playing. He has written his apology note and he is grounded to his room, expected to get it clean while he is in there.
-
Let's just pretend the spanking comment isn't there or the thread will get locked very soon. If there were an infraction meriting a spanking, this isn't it.
-
I'm not complaining to the principal. I appreciate him calling me and having me come and get him. I didn't want to delay having the conversation about how dangerous his action could have been. I have no idea what happened to the student who told my son to do it. I've given the name to the teacher in my own apologizing…

I had mine removed after my second child was born. The first night home sucked, really sucked. It wasn't too bad after that. I can't eat very large amounts of oils anymore (like binging on potato chips or peanut butter pie) but I haven't had any afterpains.

Build muscle, then slow down if you get to a point where it is 'too much'. I'm sure it is going to take a long time before you get to that point, you'll definitely see it coming.
-
I would guess either calories or other nutrients are too low. I would transition much closer to (or at) maintenance and see if things improve. If they don't, make an appointment with your doctor.
-
At your weight, I would eat at maintenance and lift heavy. Building a little muscle all over without gaining or losing will decrease the amount of fat you have.
-
I would assume that she is giving advice based on people's expectation that they lose weight quickly. People are impatient and want to see results right now. ETA: People are also notoriously terrible at estimating how many calories they are actually consuming. If you need 2200 to maintain and you are told to eat 1400, the…

Cook it, weigh the whole thing, and divide by 4?
-
I don't know how much truth there is behind it but I've heard of it as a way to readjust your hormones (like leptin). I'm close to my goal so I switch between maintenance and deficit, 'feeling out' my fluctuations.
-
I would pick male. I am not completely familiar with how going on testosterone works but maybe, possibly, it could work similar to puberty. Do you think maybe hormones alone could contribute to a higher percent muscle mass, increasing your metabolic needs slightly?
-
Anyway, weaning begins when solid food starts. You don't have to just quit all at once. I would use some kind of step tracker and eat at maintenance. Give that a little while and watch what happens. If that doesn't seem to do anything weight-wise or supply-wise, drop 100 calories. Demand slowly decreases as they eat more…

The human race doesn't need every member born to it to survive. Stable populations happen because each breeding pair raises an average of 2 offspring to reproductive age. Even humans, who have the social capability to share the metabolic burden of nursing, would have only been able to keep a fraction of their children…
