I haven't seen what dosages they were using. The old recommendation was only ~400-600 IU. There is a lot of push to significantly raise that number. Specifically, A Statistical Error in the Estimation of the Recommended Dietary Allowance for Vitamin D. Of course taking only 1/20th of what is necessary isn't going to do…

Blaming a hijacked and unhealthy set point to explain why you can't lose weight would be like complaining you can't lower your body temperature while you continue taking MDMA. If you aren't willing to change your habits and environment to eliminate the cause of overeating, you aren't going to get different results only by…

The hypothalamus also keeps your body from getting too hot or too cold but that doesn't mean you will always be exactly 98.6 degrees. Many things (illness, drugs, pregnancy) can cause the body to deviate from this point.

I think it exists. But I think we're constantly overriding our eating instincts with "foods" that are only the most addictive extracts of food (sugars and oils removed and concentrated). They are then advertised everywhere and constantly available. We aren't being driven by hunger to seek food, we've designed our society…

I started eating a lot of Lean Cuisine for lunch when I got lazy. I could scan the barcode, maybe add a small piece of fruit, and call it done. One thing that "helped" me was sometimes I just didn't eat something if I didn't feel like logging it. If I wasn't willing to take a minute to do that, I must not have actually…

Being used to 'before', it is probably a little jarring to see you so much smaller. People dislike change but it will be a new normal eventually.

MyPlate won't recommend any fewer than 1,600 calories. Even if you were a 90 lb, 5'0, 62 year old lady. It also recommends a certain amount of physical activity, so eating significantly above BMR would probably be necessary.

My bank allows me to input future transactions to predict my balance into the future. Some things I know exactly and are repeating (internet, phone, insurance), others I can guesstimate and review when I get a statement.

I was prescribed it to hopefully straighten out my PCOS. Didn't help, made me kind of nauseated in the mornings.

There was a study (don't feel like Googling) that people ate more after "exercise" than after "sightseeing", even when the setting/distance were the same. People reward themselves for suffering.

At the doctor's, within a few pounds is probably just fine for most people. Clothing isn't going to make a slightly overweight person suddenly obese. At home, I don't weigh my clothes. I'm not looking to compare my weight with the year before.

sometimes when you are smaller, a few pounds can really show. You may not need to lose all 10, just convert some to muscle.

It isn't low calorie but I do much better on a high-fat breakfast. I don't start getting hungry again as quickly. My recent macro balance has been 35-40% of my calories from fat. Today, I'm sitting here trying to figure out how to get 700 more calories in after dinner. Fat is the fuel my body seems to prefer.

I would rather have extra for dessert on a good day than realize I can't eat half of my dinner.

I find fat really filling, while carbs make me feel hungry quicker. There is a whole category of food (nuts and seeds) that are high fat and high in minerals like magnesium and calcium.

When I feel like it. That used to be daily. Now I weigh 2-5x per week but don't get around to logging it as often.

Spaghetti? Macaroni salad?

I normally increase for a few days of my cycle but it balances back out because I'll have a 'correction' where my appetite decreases when that phase is over.

Yes, children should know how to count calories. It is math, essentially just like teaching them how to shop (calories by weight, price by weight). However, knowing how to do something isn't a synonym with actually doing it.

Humans live on a lot of different kinds of diets. There are the !Kung, who can seasonally get over half of their calories from one type of nut (very, very high in fat), and the Inuit, who traditionally didn't have access to any kind of vegetation for a good portion of the year and obtained vitamin C and carbohydrates…

You can also get horror stories from women who have had oncogenic HPV and had to go through multiple rounds of biopises before having the dysplasia cut out. It is definitely a unique kind of pain.

I would assume that the women who are drinking diet soda during pregnancy have more than just that separating them from women who drink water during pregnancy.

My mom has had her own personal fridge (in her own house) since she started preparing for bariatric surgery like 7 years ago. I would just have them prepare their food separately and/or get a cookbook with calorie counts and sticky notes to mark the ones you would appreciate them making for all of you. I have a copy of…

Mine is accurate most of the time. If I'm under a lot of stress or sick (raising my heart rate), it calculates too high. It may take a little while to calibrate to you.

Garmin vivosmart HR. I think it was estimating from heart rate.

Yes I did. It is the first reply. I wasn't sure how to post a photo while mobile.

At one month postpartum, your extra weight isn't all fat. Increased blood supply persists for a while and increased breast and uterine mass contributes to a higher weight. Your body had to 'beef up' vital systems to support the needs of two people and things don't go back to normal immediately. Chillax, eat nutrient dense…

If your body doesn't get what it needs, it will eventually kill you. A friend of my mom's is doing this right now. He is diabetic and his diet is killing him. His wife says he absolutely will not eat fruit and vegetables. Suicide by malnutrition.

Something that weighs in grams and ounces (oz), with a 'tare' button.
