Are there any outdoor exercise substitutions for gym machines? Like could kayaking take the place of an arm/upper body piece of equipment or Roller/Ice Skating for leg machines. I think I'd rather pick up inreasingly heavy rocks and move them from one place to another than go to a gym.

My gym "issues" are 1. Do not like going (at all - ever) 2. They're stinky and germy 3. Dislike the "social club" of the tiny, giggly stick people 4. I would just rather be outside (I live in Florida and can comfortably be outside year round) My intention is not to offend anyone - these are the things that have been…

Thanks everyone. This has really broken some of the stress for me because it really isn't hard once you get your mind and attitude right about sticking to the program. I've made the committment and there's no stopping me now! If I can just over my "gym" issues! Kath712 - isn't is shameful the calorie counts on so much of…

And I was good - made it through and still dropped 2 lbs on the scale this morning. Love it when a plan works!
-
Hooray for me - made it through workday without snacking my calories away! This is a milestone for me: made plan then actually followed through. Look at me go....

Hey - let's not make fun of the sneezy then peezy thing. Used to be something that was ultra hilarious to me until it started happening to me! :)

I use the Wishbone Spritzers. I haven't checked the sodium on them but they have some tasty flavors. Good luck in finding something you like!

Remain calm - this too shall pass :) The evil scale will show something different in the near future. I know it's disappointing, but remember that overall you're eating better and, in the long run, you will see a positive (or is it negative) change on the scale numbers. PS - thinking that maybe salt may not be your friend

I'm 5' 6" and 175 lbs and been at 1200 cals per day. I'm not going to lie to you, it takes a lot of planning but you can still eat well with that limited number. Again, it is just retraining ourselves. I am really enjoying the raw fruits and veges more than I ever had which fits into this routine well. I typically try to…

HATE when that happens! Makes you very afraid of all future potentially dibilitating sneezes!

"Alas, I could not resist the donut... My co-workers and I have a bet going to see who can lose the most weight by Nov. 20 by body percentage--winner gets $300. The skinny people keep trying to sabotage and bring in donuts, cherry cheesecakes, cupcakes, and Paula Dean german chocolate cake. I finally caved and grabbed one.…

That's a great step in our crazy psychological battle with food! You didn't let the donut win - that's awesome! Congrats and wishing you much success in the future!
-
I'm scared - roller skated for the first time in a very long time last night. Tomorrow should be the "day". Eek

Hi, my name is Karen. I am a food addict. (would be funny if it wasn't true!) I'm very sorry you had a bad day. Really sucks sometimes. But I can't even say I was stressed yesterday. I knew my son was going to make dinner (Italian with that darn fresh garlic bread). Even did extra exercise in planning for it. I did good…

Yeah - it's a great exercise! I am scared of what tomorrow will bring, but try to see muscle pain is a good thing; we'll see - may be crying tomorrow!. But I can't tell daughter about pain - I teased her when she first started and told her to "buck up". Darn that Karma - just can't hide from it!

I work for a municipality and work with the public - always get the flu shots. The shots have always been a good thing for me - can't remember the last time I've had the flu. Plan on getting the H1N1 when available. The comment "it's too new" is interesting to me; this is the first time for this strain of flu, right?

YEAH! Good for you! I don't 4-wheel, but I know how much I look forward to going for walk rather than dreading it and making any excuse not to get moving. Congrats!
-
Who knew!? The hangover one threw me - just the thought of eating a banana while hung over made me gag a little bit. So the adage should be revised to say, "A banana a day keeps the doctors away!"
-
Thanks guys. And Blombie - good luck with your snack day! Sounds like you're prepared for it.
-
Hi Garrett! Thanks for everything you're doing for us - keep in touch and stay safe.

This confirms my belief that scales are evil! :) I have never figured out how there could be such a change in such a small amount of time. I'm sure it has something to do with water intake, metabolism, etc. but I find it frustrating. That is why I force myself to only step on the scale once a week at the same time so I…

Not sure you've been to Melbourne, Florida - little hicks from a beach town! :) Are you all near Bryson City? My sister has a cabin at the top of a mountain right outside of Deep Creek. We don't get to go up as much as we would like to. I'm very jealous because our weather has been in the 90's and humid (broke heat records…

This basic program really makes sense - doesn't it! I'm glad you're happy and it seems like you'll stick with it! Best wishes for success

I'm in Brevard County, Florida! Can I join?
-
Because it's an awesome thing you can do for yourself. :)
-
That sounds really good - will have to give it a try!
-
I like mine with dill relish, onion, celery and light mayo. Put that on some toasted wheat bread and it's great! But adding the onion and relish has their own "odor" issues!
-
Isn't it just the most wonderful problem to have? Congrats!

I'm a leaf person that can co-exist well with bean people. Considered black sheep of my ever-loving, die-hard coffee-drinking family! Enjoy! PS - I'm sure the "anti-coffee" people are lurking out there somewhere
