  • Some of the red teas (rooibos) have really sweet flavoring without having to add sugar.

  • I think in about a year if you compare yourself to those same people, you'll find you made the right choices for the long term. Good luck.
  • Burger King does this for me! It doesn't matter what I have there (burgers, so-called chicken, etc.) I'm down for the count. It really is a nasty, gross feeling!
  • Agreed. I understand what you're saying about responsible consumerism. We all need to place a priority on buying as local as possible and paying fair prices. We all have the power to change circumstances with our buying dollars. And I absolutely dispise slimy marketing tactics. But on the other hand, it tickles me no end…
  • I would suggest working out before if you can. When I give blood, they tell me not to use the arm for a certain amount of time because you can collapse the vein. Not to mention, you will be dehydrated after giving blood and it takes a while to replenish the fluids.
  • Does anyone remember Rosanna Anna Danna - never mind. Operator error. Had mistakingly changed from -1/lb per week to -.5/lb per week which gave me all kinds of cals!!! Thanks for making me see the error or my ways! Think I'll go for an extra long walk today. :)
  • I have my activity level at "sedentary" because I work in an office. But when I put in my workout goals, it ups my calories. Maybe I'm doing something wrong or need to take the workout goals out of the equation. Then just log the exercise as I do them - ?
  • Do you guys put in your workout goals? Maybe I just need to leave the exercise blank and deal with them as I actually log them????? What do you guys do?
  • But I think MFP does take my workout calories into account because it increases the daily calories based on the "anticipated" workouts. Although it's not logged automatically, it ups my calories. Then gives me the workout cals when I actually log them. I don't know why I have a hang up on getting this straight in my mind.…
  • Well, yesterday was one meal - I ate all day long TOM! But usually 3 meals with 2-3 snacks.
  • I have low iron (been deferred from giving blood because of it). The only way I can even come close to getting the recommended amount of iron is iron-fortified cereal. I'm eating Special K right now; between that and all my veges (broccoli, spinach greens, etc.), I'm hitting about the recommended level. I do take a…
  • I, too, can't say no to the girls. So what I do is pay them the cost of a box of cookies and tell them to keep the cookies. WIN-WIN: I don't have cookies in the house and they get $ (because when my daughter was selling them, the troop only makes like 25 cents per box - this way it's all profit for them) PS - Do they still…
  • I love cucumbers with vinegar, onions and cracked pepper. Very tastey and lots of flavor. I also like grape tomatoes, with little bit of low fat italian dressing, onions and pepper - I eat that with lf cottage cheese. I'm not a fan of cottage cheese so the flavor of the tomotoes make it tolerable!
  • Look at the red teas (aka bush tea or rooibos) - excellent flavored teas, naturally caffeine free, vitamins/minerals and some have such great taste you don't need sweetener. If you can't find it in the grocery store - try online. (I'm drinking a Belgium Chocolate rooibos which tastes like a Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookie!).
  • That is so terrific! And I'm sure you feel so much better too! Wishing you continued success!
  • I always eat breakfast (wasn't a fan until I started MFP). This morning I'm having my Special K vanilla almond cereal and ff yogurt. I usually have some kind of fruit, but I didn't hit the produce stand yesterday :(
  • TOO CUTE - I think I may have to steal your idea!
  • I think you should probably talk to him about menus and your lifestyle changes. He might be open to trying different things. And this might eliminate any possible stresses about meal planning. I am extremely fortunate that my husband and 2 older kids have never been finicky eaters. They love the fruits, veges and are happy…
  • Love your options (admit I've done the Tylenol PM thing - sometimes I just can't continue arguing with myself about it)! Can I suggest going for a quick walk before you eat - sometimes that curbs that nagging munchie feeling too!
  • Yes but we'll see who meets goal and keeps it off! :)
  • I know what you're saying - last time that little drop of blood sank like a rock; this time - not. Maddening. But I never thought of the silly fiber issue - that is really helpful!
  • I'm a little afraid to take them because I'm WAY not pregnant! :) My understanding is that too much folic acid can cause some pretty significant issues (here's where I was reading up on that: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/prenatal-vitamins/AN01665 ). But I do remember when I was pregnant with my kids (many years ago)…
  • What is this? I need to invest in some sort of monitor so I can be more specific with recording my exercise. I'm really intrigued with this - I think there's something online that supports it, right? I just don't know what it is and it's kinda hard to find info on-line. Any links would be appreciated.
  • Thank guys - I just feel a little "challenged" on this topic. I was trying to do this weight loss thing with minimal expense; felt I needed to go this route so it would be a true lifestyle change, not just "using" gadgets or pre-packaged food to get to my weight loss goal. But I think I've matured enough in this journey to…
  • I just realized today that I do better if I put my water in a large 32 oz insulated mug with a lid. I started using this mug in the car but found that I am drinking more. I fill it up before I leave for the office and then again at lunch time. I know it sounds silly, but I guess it's because I don't "see" how much water I…
  • Hello fellow Floridian! I hope you find this site as helpful as I have. I've been on since Sept 09 and really like the logs and network of people! Look around and never feel bashful about asking ANY questions. Best of luck! PS - I'm in Melbourne (on east coast of Central Florida)
  • I am a tea fanatic also. I'm big into the loose teas and have found rooibos teas (aka red tea, aka bush tea) to be great. They are caffeine free. Your question made me look back at my "tea source" ( teaandchi.com ) and they have these couple of chocolate rooibos teas that I will now have to try: 1. Belgian Chocolate:…
  • If you look long and closely, you can find some chips that aren't too bad calorie wise (Snyder's I believe has a good chip), low fat cheddar cheese (microwave til cheese is melted) and top with whatever (low fat sour cream, fresh salsa from the produce section, fresh hot peppers, lettuce, etc.) I don't care for the taco-…
  • Oh my - it's only 10 am and this recipe has got me hungry! I'll have to try it!
  • It really is hard to be creative AND calorie conscious! I will bring in canned soups that I can pop in the microwave, make my own salads and top with chicken or diced ham, or makings for nachos (lo cal toppings). Good luck!
