Damn, I think you took off at least half a decade in the process of that transformation - very well done!

I think it's pretty tough to really get too much protein, although if you do take in a lot of protein, you want to make sure you drink plenty of water too since the kidneys still have to filter everything! I seem to be holding up well so far with 2,145g consumed in the eight days of this year so far ^__^ Biggest thing I…

I just use whatever the site estimates for me as far as strength training calories go.

Water weight plays a pretty big role, as do the conditions of the contestants and the aforementioned cases of when one week in the season is actually two weeks in real life.
-
Feel free to add me, I've made it more or less a resolution to log daily and so far, so good!

Damn, that is an incredible weight loss over that period of time (honestly, at all). Two completely different bodies. Congrats on a transformation very well done!

I don't have any particular time frames on these, and I rarely do 1RMs, so I will list comparable rep ranges or weights as well as I can. I mix free weights and machines/stations generally ***DUMBBELL MOVES bicep curls - 8x25 --> 8x40 shoulder press - 12x30 --> 12x55 shoulder flys - 12x10 --> 12x20 (possibly 25s) DB bench…

It is definitely tough to gain back, but personally.. I think if you had enough determination and grit to go from 180lbs all the way to 117lbs the cardio/light eating way, you most certainly can get some muscle put back on!
-
Hell of a transformation there - you've added quite a lot of years to your life. Very well done and keep up the fitness!

The only non-exercise calories I will add is if I am doing a fun or work activity that is fairly strenuous, like shoveling snow, scraping ice off of cars, and I would probably add it in if I were helping someone move, but even on those I would aim a bit lower on the estimates. Food prep, walking A to B.. nah.

That's crazy - 150lbs at 5'9" is generally seen as a pretty good weight!

This all reminds me, and I regret that I wasn't present for this at the time, but: I have a buddy whose wife is pretty obese. I'm not sure what she weighs, don't really care (except I'd like to see her in better shape of course), but anywho, we're in Orlando this last September at a large open air mall and she wanted to…

I can occasionally go about an hour, but the only stretch where I'm usually likely to go more than four hours is when I sleep >__>

Very impressive transformation.. you look amazing!

Both! The way I see it.. cardio helps to strip away the fat a little more efficiently.. weights helps to form and define the muscles, making the thinner body more robust.. but muscle gain also boosts metabolism, which is like turbocharging a car.

I sometimes get the jumbo jerky. 120-130 calories and 22-26g per stick. Almost fat free. You do have to chew it, though! I don't eat them too often though due to sodium. I get good bang for my buck with skim milk plus Body Fortress protein.. two servings of each is 440-460 cals and 68g.

One thing that spurred me.. maybe a month or two before I started to get fit, we have a salesman at my workplace who was 6'2" and about 290lbs. He had a pretty portly build. One manager right around my age was walking near one day and said I was starting to look like him. That was one of the straws nearer the top of the…

PF is a great option if you're looking for cardio - the one that I went to in 2011 had more cardio machines than you could shake any kind of stick at!

Bench pressing can be done without a spotter (I have done so the last two times I've gone), but you definitely need to know your limits, and as previously stated, probably leave a rep or two out. Dumbbells are a great alternative - that's what I've done in my sessions on incline bench press, since usually on incline with…

Never tried that one myself, I'd gander I could maybe get 95lbs, but that's a pretty ballpark guess for something without doing it!

Eek, that is terrible to hear about the effectiveness of the medicines and what all you've had to go through! My own case seems pretty mild - currently the only symptom I have is that I have to take my Asacol HD twice daily. When I had my flare-up, mine was very predominantly left-sided as well. I had damage throughout the…

Varies considerably for me; I started tracking my weekly macros (Sunday through Saturday) and so far this week I have been at 415 (+215), 129 (-120), and 156 (-112) as far as carbohydrate intake goes. For what it's worth, when I was going through my strongest weight loss phase in 2011, I was eating a pretty high carb…

I hit chest, shoulders, and triceps - not much for any new personal bests, but I also threw in 20 minutes on the elliptical, probably my highest intensity run yet ^_^
-
I had a homemade tamale from one of my buddies' family. No alcohol yet this year ^_^
-
You're right you are on fire, doing great there! Keep up the good work!
-
I think mine is hovering around 3-4 weeks old now.

My gym was closed by the time I got out of work so I did the P90X One-on-One "Super Cardio." It was intense but my tank wasn't empty by cooldown so I repeated the hardest third of the video. Duration was 45 minutes, I'm usually past 12 cal/min on elliptical after subtracting 20% so I credited myself 11 cal/min for a total…

I was gonna say, these pics are of 330 and 246? Couldn't have put it by me! Great progress thus far, keep up the good work!
