  • speaking from experience, be careful. Shin splints will get worse if you don't figure out why you are getting them and try to fix that cause. The best thing to do is rest and ice and ibuprofen for now. But shin splints are a small tear in the muscle lining and continued stress to the area will cause more damage over time.…
  • I think that you can feel better that you are not alone here. All of us have felt bad about how we look at some point and we are all here because we are committed to getting healthier and making changes for the better, so good job that you are here! It's hard to get going at first, but once it becomes a routine it's easier…
  • I didn't fall off the treadmill, but I did get off mine and slice my leg on the one next to mine as I was leaving. That was embarassing.
  • It is really tough to find the time....I have done p90X and i won't lie...it is time consuming but worth it. I suggest waking up earlier or staying up a bit later. Plan it into your day so you don't find yourself at the end of the day and upset that you didn't get it done. If you really don't have the time, there are other…

  • My class is Anatomy and Physiology and there will be labs, not sure I can eat. So yes, things in transit would be best. Wraps are my best bet I think now.
  • Plan out morning and afternoon snacks....a piece of fruit, serving of almonds, or a protein bar in the afternoon. I agree with the last poster, plan ahead and bring snacks. If you calculate it up and you have the calories..do it. I always pack two snacks for work and it helps me get through to lunch and then make it to…
  • I sure have. Even the smallest things make me feel like crap. It's almost like my body is getting used to the healthy stuff and it is outright offended by the crap I try to put in it. I am happy that my body reacts this way, it makes it much harder to go back down the wrong path.
  • Derry, NH here.....hello all.
  • I have read that it's not good to run two days in a row, so I do every two or three days. I am also only running about 3 miles at a time, but I had shin splints and stopped running for a long time, but I also would like to increase my distance. Perhaps a running program such as couch to 5k,but one for running more? Might…
  • sure, it's plyometrics! anything that makes you sweat has to be burning something.
  • put the picture that makes you crazy in the kitchen somewhere, that way if you go to grab a treat or snack it will make you think twice and ask yourself if you really need that snack.
  • seriously, I can't stand people in jeans, flip flops....either come to work out or don't come at all. None of this half *kitten* crap really.
  • lots of core moves, plank, push ups, ab stuff helps, but so does your diet. It will happen. I am working on the same issue and I see progress but it is slow. Hang in there.
  • A week is a short amount of time to expect results. For me, it was the whole lifestyle change and changing the way I thought about eating and then having MFP just helped that even more. Keep doing what you are doing, and toss your scale out the window. Judge your success by how your clothing feels, take your measurements.…
  • Me too! I already signed up last week, terrified but super pumped for it!
  • I have just signed up for a 5k obstacle course/run. I am really only concerned about the obstacles, specifically the wall with a rope. I don't know if they have one or not, but I bet they will and I have never climbed a rope wall before and I'm worried. How did those of you who have done this before do with the wall? Is…
  • I will be signing up to do it in Boston in the spring, the whole idea is so very cool and awesome and a bit scary all at the same time. Any other Mass-holes thinking about running?

  • I log it as high impact aerobics because I also do not have the money for a HRM, seems to be close enough to acurate, or as close as one can get.
  • You look great, nice job
  • Not sure what it is called, but search these forums for mug muffins or muffin in a mug. Think I recall seeing something about those that looked really yummy. oh, and Vitamuffins or Vitamuffin tops are really tasty and healthy. You can find them in the frozen section near the waffles and frozen breakfasts.
  • Congrats! Smaller pants are such a good feeling!
  • Insane abs cardio abs anything with plank moves I can feel in my abs right away
  • Yes it's really crazy....I remember going to Friendly's with my son and ordering from the low calorie menu. When I entered it here the sodium was through the roof. So I learned my lesson that low calorie might not always be good.
  • I am just around 5ft. I started at 165 but would like to get to around 125 and see how that looks, almost half way there.
  • Hey if you have the time and it's not tiring you out, then I say go for it. Just stop when you feel it's too much. I wish I had that kind of time, so good for you.
  • wasa crips with laughing cow or wholly guacamole spread on special k crackers apples with almond butter to dip and fiber one brownies rock my socks off!
  • Hey that is a lot of calories for just an hour. If you sat around you would have burned none, so it's a big improvement. And don't compare yourself to guys...sorry but they seem to have it easier IMHO when it comes to some weight loss/fitness things. Just tell yourself that today was not your best day, but it sure as hell…
  • First of all, don't be frustrated. We all hit slumps and/or plateaus and you will get through it by telling yourself that you have done well so far and will continue to do better. The more positive attitude the better. Now, I am no nutritionist however from what I read on these forums, you need to eat more. I looked at you…
  • I am kind of close, Derry, NH here. I am always looking for support and new friends. Oh and Salem Willows is such a great place, we have taken my son every year for the past three years as a summer day trip.
