Today is my "Day 1", after a break, in which I gained back 11 of the 17 lbs I lost.

I'm with you! Seems like as I get older it so much harder to lose. I'm enjoying walking more, I rescued a dog, and while I might skip exercise for me, I am SO committed that she needs her exercise! :-) Whatever works, right? I'm trying to forget the "lost time" in discouragement and start fresh! Good luck to you!!!

You too, Steffy! I agree, even with the occasional trolls, people that get a little testy, by and large its a wonderfully supportive group.

You are so right about the difference in weight loss & age. In my 30s & 40s, when I went on a diet, or added exercise, the weight came off quick! Now I lose nothing unless I watch my eating AND exercise. The physiological reason, we are flat losing muscle as we age, muscle mass which burns more calories. So MFP is SO…

You crack me up! Yeah, maybe not helpful to the serious question, but I didn't take it as you being rude. I need to go log in the calories I burned laughing... My favorite comment was: "even a statement from me that is half-right is worth its weight in gold." :-)

It says on the box that 3/4 of a cup is a serving. I don't like them plain, but you might. They are really high in fiber, low in sugar, which makes them good for you.
-
I "need" dessert every night, really trying to limit sugar, (not eliminate), so we have strawberries & blueberries w/ low fat cool whip on top. The berries are really good for you, & since I don't live in Califirnia, the strawberries need the sweetness of the cool whip.

It does seem counter intuitive, but my weight often stays the same when I am not eating enough. Staying on my calorie goal ensures regular loss.

Lots of good, balanced advice! That's why I like being on My Fitness Pal!! When I was on the Atkins- I felt bad, it was unnatural so I binged after weeks of deprivation. I am with those who said my weight loss came when I moved my body more. Again why My Fitness Pal is so good, makes you think about it! I lost well without…

SO good of you to share! So many people feel hopeless when they are morbidly obese. Good for you!!!

It is different for everyone. When I have 40 to lose, I have to lose 20 lbs for a size drop, when I have 30 lbs to lose, it takes about 15 for me. My sister and a friend of mine both only have to lose 5-10 lbs to lose a size. Whatever, just keep on keeping on & it will happen!

There are not nearly enough totally shallow comments, so I will provide! I said at 20 lbs. I would have a piece of lemon meringue pie. When it was sitting in front of me, I couldn't do it! All that work, I can't just eat this! It really wasn't that big, but I split it with my husband and enjoyed it! At 25 lbs. I had set a…

I found the ticker factory website, made mine, but how do I get it onto MFP?? Pity the technology challenged, and give me a hint, will ya?

1st timer, need some new inspiration. I'm setting a goal for 50 miles.

Good for you, girl!! Sounds like you are thinking well already, for long term life change. Not doing something you can't live with, but making healthier choices. Exercising, another fabulous idea!! Good luck!!

I posted a heading like this about 2 months ago, I had only lost about 6 lbs. Felt like I was working hard, but struggling with the fantasy/impatience of wanting to lose 20 lbs. like, yesterday. SO many great pieces of advice from MFP community! You have done it, you joined MFP, so you have begun. Continue making great…

MFP chose for me, according to my activity level and my goals. I thought I couldn't do 1200, but I'm learning I can. Only if I want a treat, dessert, an extra snack, I know I have to go and exercise to "afford" it. Its changing my lifestyle! I'm losing steadily, 1 or 2 lbs. a week, which really adds up as time passes.

I checked it out and she is behind on the reserch. If you don't "Break your fast", your metabolism slows down. Many studies show more overweight people skip breakfast. Too low carbs is not good for your body, (not talking about processed foods), you need them. When extreme no carb diets are followed, your body burns…

But you live and learn!! Next time you say, "I remember that was as many calories as a day's worth!" Then you eat the 3 tacos and maybe only 1 other thing. I did the same with pizza last week, ate one, two then, in a little "pity party" for my long hours at work, I ate a THIRD! I haven't eaten 3 pieces of pizza in years. I…

Sorry- really thought you were kidding- didn't mean to mock!!! You are working too hard, but good for you for being so serious! Just don't get bogged down on the little things.

Thanks for the laugh! Of course, if you actually EAT the peel, that's a different story...

Good for you, and welcome! Its a wonderful resource for recipes, experiences and questions. The big thing is logging everything, even the small stuff, and it works! SO encouraging at the end of every day, "If every day were like today, in 5 weeks you will weigh:...", ( Some great weight you'd really like to weigh!) It…

I'm glad to see this discussion, I was thinking about asking for a fitbit for my birthday.
