Lanette, guess we’ve dated ourselves with “Diet for a Small Planet”. Somewhat relieved the amino acids might not have to be balanced at the same meal. I used to make her chocolate chip cookie recipe until my then boyfriend explained to me that while they were filling and sustaining, they were like eating rocks… and he was…

Michele, oh yeah I sure do remember baking “special” brownies in the ‘70s and late ‘60s. They don't call me an Ageing Hippie for nuthin' One friend got the munchies, ate too many, and turned the color of split pea soup. Had to leave the A's baseball game in the 7th inning. Oregano might not be too tasty, could you…

Terri thanks for sharing those pics. Kim your “one pan” story  Lisa “napocalypse” that word. “…put your cast iron pans in the dishwasher” oh nooo! Yours to Debbie, well said. Welcome @nescalera2710 Nini! I’m 73 and my weight is finally beginning to microscopically creep down toward pre-menopausal ranges… maybe by next year ;) Baby steps starting where you are, weighing and logging every bite lick or sip, finding an activity you enjoy, these are key for me. Weighing food was a real eye-opener,…

Just excavated some (very old) dried black and adzuki beans from the recesses of the pantry and put some on to soak. Is there any danger in eating old beans? No obvious defects or fuzzy mold . . . ;)

Communication is so challenging! Investing time sitting with Joe without being tied to an expectation that things will go MY way, this is tough! Yesterday morning he resolutely sat with eyes closed and barely spoke until I’d finished my tea and stood to go up (patience is NOT my strong suit :laugn: ). Then his attitude was…

Today’s (8/2) gratitude: that my legs actually feel better after yesterday’s exertions. Flat Fire now over 15,000 acres with mandatory “Leave Now” evacuations in place for the Oak Flat area 4 miles south/southeast of Agness. Not heavily populated but perhaps 40 structures in the area. Wildfire season has begun. The “Flat Fire” is burning 8600+ acres in the Rogue River/Siskiyou National Forest near the town of Agness.
