The only way your body would store it as fat is if you exceeded your maintenance calories for the day. OP, I don't think it's a good idea for weight loss, it doesn't teach you how to eat/portion sizes.

I think part of the problem here is the assumption that "extreme" is necessarily a bad thing. In some cases it can be, sure. But that shouldn't be an automatic assumption. I might think low-carb is extreme but that doesn't mean i think it's terrible. And the difference between clean and moderation, as I am sure you well…

I drink my water in the form of Coke Zero and Crystal Light.

I think most of us know exactly why they're "concerned."

Hit the flag button on the bottom of your post, choose report and then click the request to have it deleted. I am sorry if I am repeating information. I'm still reading. FWIW, I thought it was a great article.

Oh, I don't think there's anything wrong with not eating in moderation. At all. Nor did I take "extreme" in a negative way. It just seems like there's a lot of deliberate misunderstanding here of what moderation is and this article summed it up nicely. Of course, people continue to believe what they want to believe,…

This actually sounds really good. But I can't justify a juicer for just this. LOL And sadly, I can't eat grapefruit with my meds.

I have given up my diet soda in the past when I fell for all of the hype. It did nothing for me. I didn't feel better, I didn't magically lose weight. Nada. I just really, really missed my soda.
-
So?

It doesn't matter. How often any one person specifically eats treats is beside the point. The point is that they do eat them, just not all the time. That's the thing about everything you just wrote here. It is irrelevant. It does not matter if I can only have two cookies and Jim Bob can have four. Two cookies is…

Yes, that would be helpful. Because frankly, I can't figure out who the heck would fit this description of saying that they eat in moderation but they don't eat in moderation but they also don't eat in extremes . . .
-
But there's nothing wrong with either Mio or diet soda so . . . OP, Mio is like Crystal Light but it's liquid drops that you add to your water.
-
And once again, just because some people use the word incorrectly doesn't change the meaning of the word. And I am pretty sure that absolutely no one offered a qualifier of "100%."
-
Exactly, it's like people who say feminism is man-hating because some people who call themselves that term behave that way or people who call themselves vegetarian but still eat meat. The definitions of the words don't change just because some people use them incorrectly.
-
So like the article says, if someone eats a diet of mostly junk food, that's not moderation, it's an extreme.
-
Yep. There was a discussion here recently where some people were trying to argue that moderation has a million different definitions, just like "clean." I couldn't figure out how to articulate that even though we all might do it differently, it is still the same thing.
-
Meal timing, carb timing and calorie distribution are irrelevant. As long as you achieve a caloric deficit, you will lose weight.
-
I hear sodium bicarbonate is pretty dangerous too.
-
Oh, I like this one! There are some folks that think that moderation "can mean anything" but this article nails it down. It is the absence of extremes. Nice. Thanks for sharing it!

I don't remember drinking "real" soda but I probably did as a kid. I've been on diet for eons. (I'm old.)

The support forum is down the hall, this is the Food and Nutrition forum. Here, you're going to get advice. I don't think you're hurting yourself by juicing, I just don't think it's necessary, especially when your body needs extra nutrients because it's bleeding. But hey, if you enjoy it (although this post doesn't make it…

This won't end well.

Well, my blood pressure could use some help but I think that's a product of my weight rather than sugar as all of those other markers were described by my doctor this month as "perfect." I quite like the quote that ended the article @PeachyCarol shared: Given that sugar and starch contain roughly the same amount of…

The all or nothing mindset likely comes from the forbidden aspect. When I tell myself I can't have something at all, it just makes me want it all that much more. Once I let go of that kind of thinking and decided that I can have anything any time I want it, I find I'm not dwelling on it anymore. Even diet soda. I too tried…

There are lots of rumors about diet soda. Many of us here have lost weight while continuing to drink them.

-
No no, everyone knows you can't start a new diet until Monday.
-
"I must be addicted to sugar/carbs/food." Nah. I can now stop at a cookie or a handful of chips (not to say I always do but I can)
-
I can't say that I have ever experienced anything like that at all. Well, a little hangry now and then but that's normal, not "withdrawal."
