so nice to read your post, I love reading/hearing about people who love their spouses. My husband is a wonderful guy who supports me every step of the way, and it's so nice to find a forum where I can give him a shout out for his loyalty, reliability, and great sense of humor :) He encouraged me to try organic meats and he…

thinking about the same. not sure about stevia,I see that there are articles about it that say it's not been tested enough for widespread use. google and see what you find. regarding processed foods, i totally agree. about sugar, hmm...not sure if I can go that low yet. gonna hit my goal weight then clean up the rest of my…

wow! you look like Lionitus! Good job! Man, I hope I can get to my goal, feeling a little undermotivated lately...you have just inspired me to work out!

@ the guy who likes canned beans - have you tried lentils? they cook up really fast. high in protein, zinc, and fiber also good with potatoes. awesome with stewed tomatoes, garlic, a little nutmeg

make sure you're eating unsalted, raw almonds. If you mix 'em with the dried cranberries you should be def okay on the calories, and also good with dark chocolate or carob (check sodium content on those). Also, make your own stews in a slow cooker that way you cut out time spent cooking, sodium, and the meat keeps the fat…

After I eat like a big mac or something, I feel like I ought to just cave and give up. But one day does not a diet make or break, so if you go a little nuts on the treats one day, just dig your heels in and fight the hardwiring and put in a week of good eating. A friend of mine once told me 23 days builds a habit, and I…

oh boy, that's a toughie. My best version of myself says, just eat the fruit, the craving will pass in 15 minutes, go for a walk to deal with the stress, or try a punching bag (totally a workout, especially with jumping rope before and after). The rest of me says, some days it's so tough. I like the dark chocolate from…

you are awesome!!!! honestly, this might be a little controversial, but I would suggest doing only the recommended cardio (I think it's like 30min/day but double check) and do a little extra strength training. make sure you're focusing on alternating days between your problem areas, so one day abs, next day arms, next day…

yessir! I use a deck of cards for 3 oz of meat, two dice (or the size of my thumb from the web to the thumb-tip) for an ounce of cheese, a tennis ball for a cup of rice or cereal, and I don't really limit my veggies. fruits, i usually try to eat small or medium ones, about the size of a hackey-sack or less. if it's a…

haha my name is Nil! glad to meet you, if you're in los angeles, by the way, I'm looking for a workout buddy! you will make it work, i'm sure! and there's lots of support here.

are you sure you aren't supposed to add 500 calories for breastfeeding? I think you add 350 for pregnancy, 500 for breastfeeding. the quickest way I can think of to add calories to your diet is with almond butter, but that's not lowfat (low saturated fat though)...hmm...maybe an almond butter sandwich (it's like peanut…

well, clearly you've lost inches and pounds so maybe your head is catching up with your weight loss. Sometimes it takes awhile to recognize our achievements and become comfortable with how we look after a significant weight loss. that's what I think. Good job and just give yourself time to appreciate all you've done.

sure you will! good job!

sure!

about the fat calories thing, in whole foods that is true. 9 calories per gram for fat, versus 4 per gram for carbs or protein; so portion control is key. snack on veggies, right?
-
one thing though, I do take a calcium supplement because I like nonfat milk, but not enough to drink as much as i need to get my calcium requirements, and honestly, I agree with whole foods but just don't think it's good to take in 24 oz of whole milk for the daily required calcium

I think a lot of discombobulated foods end up with the wrong proportions of nutrients and fractionated stuff that just clogs up, well, everything. Whole foods are best, all the way! I'm working on losing weight now, and then once I'm used to the reduced calories, overhauling my diet toward a more organic, more whole-food…

sorry, no advice here from me, just support. I totally get how frustrated you are, it's so hard to be doing all the right things and not see the desired result. Have faith fellow browncoat, you are headed in the right direction and good things DO come to those who wait.

I had a coworker who didn't like the saying "que sera, sera" it just really bothered her. oh, the things that irk me are so numerous. but I tend to dwell and am turning over a new leaf!

buffalo chicken all the way! 1 large boneless skinless chicken breast, salt and pepper both sides, cut into strips and pounded out both sides so it's super tender, throw it into a pan with a little water or chicken stock and heat it up until it's totally cooked through sauce: small bunch of cilantro minced up tabasco sauce…

I admire your initiative and honesty, and I think you are very smart to approach this as you have. It's insulting to hear people label you anorexic, or as someone with low self esteem, and I hope that did not hurt your feelings. It's not helpful to be spoken to that way. I also agree with that person who advises strength…

interesting about truvia.

oh, I almost forgot! the lettuce should be tossed with fat free ranch dressing to make it stick to the pizza!

I love pizza and make room for it, sorry but most substitutions don't cut it for me. If you get a regular New York style slice, just cheese, and ask for half the amount of the cheese, it tastes just as good, I PROMISE. One slice of New York style runs about 400-600 calories and just doesn't have anything besides vitamins…

coffee bean has a new genmaicha that's really beautiful and tasty

try to eat balanced but if your body is craving more protein and carbs, there's probly a reason for it. Just make sure to drink your water and don't eat too much protein all the time because it is hard on your kidneys at some point.

it can be so painful when it seems like all your hard work is taken away from you, but it's not. like the other person said, focus on inches and clothing fit, and keep logging and working out. It will pay off in the end. if your scale says you weigh 6 pounds more than you thought, so too did you weigh that at the beginning…

I was vegan for a long time. I went back to eating meat, but recall a few things. What are you doing now, what direction do you want to go in, in terms of flavors? Have you been to Follow Your Heart in the san fernando valley(if local)? Whole Foods has a huge selection of gluten-free stuff. Might have to invent your own…
