my favorite is, well, I have two. In my car, there is like tons of space between the steering wheel and me now so much I can actually nap in the car without feeling all contorted and stiff. And my husband and I both fit on the couch now, no squishing or falling or arguing over space! yay for regaining lost inches!

I have no excuse, I am just majorly lazy and a couch potato. And it doesn't seem to matter. calorie counting totally works. I've lost 20 pounds the past 2 months.
-
yay you! that's amazing. Congratulations on your accomplishments and I know you can do this :) piece of cake compared to what you've been through! Just dedication and repetition. In no time you'll see results. Or at least that's what I hear a lot about, and what I've seen in my own life in just the past 2 months. Love your…

whoa. you have A LOT going on. I have plantar fasciitis and it soo hurts! ow! haha and I got neuromas from wearing xcountry shoes and tall boots that were a little (a lot) too small. But my hat's off to you! best of luck in your athletic endeavors, may your riding breeches be forgiving and complimentary in the near…

something I just thought of about kids and kid food, I'm not sure how many calories kids are supposed to eat but I would be a little concerned that if I'm on a diet to make sure they're not, you know. weight loss is one thing, weight maintenance and diet for growing bodies quite different. I'm sure it's obvious to everyone…

I love kid food. portion control is key, and substitute higher fiber, lower calorie options when possible. For example, grilled cheese on white bread can be made using wonderbread's smart bread (45 calories per slice, 2 slices has 5 grams of fiber) and one slice of american cheese or weight watcher's american cheese. I…

welcome! I'm not a parent but there's lots of people here who are. good luck on your journey and feel free to add me if you want :)

you got this, start now. don't worry about tomorrow, it's got enough troubles of its own. You know how to do it, just make the right choices at the time. I can say this because I have made schedules tons of times. just let it go. make each choice as it comes to you, wait until dinner and then when you have to choose what…

like 10 pounds. don't worry about it! I never see on the scale what I think I ought to, it is what it is. Sometimes it's more, sometimes it's less, but seldom what I think it'll be. one thing I know for sure: it works, just stick with your weight loss plan and get a maintenance plan in mind for once the weight is off.

I,like others, have had several "enough is enough" days. I have noticed I can stick with my resolve longer now that I'm on MFP. I love this site, and never even made the connection, but my husband did (he's so smart!), and I think he's totally right. this site keeps me accountable and gives me measurable goals, and lets me…

*the british biscuits that are like 20 calories each, not the scones
-
if you're hungry and you tried water and still hungry, perhaps a cup of tea with one or two of those british biscuits. Or, a big bowl of steamed veggies, that fills me up when I'm almost out of calories but hungry.

my husband's "Island person" is natalie portman (he loves Jewish girls!) and mine is, regrettably, Brody from mallrats.

that's about the time our circadian rhythms dictate we ought to take a catnap, and sadly, that's when most of us get really really busy at work (you know, so we can pick up the kids or be able to leave by 6pm) maybe you're tired and looking for a pick-me-up. Try a cup of green tea (for me, honestly, i get coffee) and see…

for example, it was kinda hinted at in the article that the foods we eat trigger the foods we eat, like diet sodas are sweet so we crave sweet things. I think something similar is true of high fructose corn syrup than sucrose, even though they look the same, taste the same, they are actually quite different in the body.…

@mercury: I think most people find a psychological component in weight gain/weight loss. It would be nice to know how you got over it, if you'd like to share :)

Good article - lots to think about! my thoughts are as follows: I'm seeing obesity not starvation in my neighborhood, so I'm not inclined to believe people are starving energy-wise trying to eat right, but I think they are substituting nutrient poor food for nutrient rich food; that is they are eating empty calories (so,…

wow self honesty, what a terrible thing to lose but what a wonderful thing to regain. Thanks for posting that, I've been kinda glum and it was nice to see someone value something that I have managed to retain in all these years, something that at times doesn't seem worth the struggle but is still there after all the…

I'm seeing people like pizza (starchy) and peanut butter...I think there might be a link there. must be that corn stuff that's been recently blamed for diabetes.
-
OMG peanut butter? what is in it that is sooo crazy addictive? Not the rough stuff, the creamy gooey filling that is more dessert than sandwich-building material. I LOVE it. And I can't stop eating it when it's in the house, hence its banishment. I even tried to get the individual servings and just eat those. nope, not…

Welcome to MFP, personally, I love this site and think it's been very helpful in my weight loss journey. Mine has been more about yo-yoing, and emotional eating so that's the extent to which I can identify. I am sorry to hear about your suffering and all that awful experience. I'm happy that you are sharing your story…

I was taught that (in a college nutrition class like 10 years ago) nutritional supplements are not as easily absorbed as the vitamins contained in the food you eat regularly. That being said, look at how many foods we eat that contain additives: calcium in OJ, calcium in butter, fiber and iron added into cereals and bread,…

yes, i totally understand the desire to just cave because you don't see a way out, or you need a break and aren't able to have one. Life can be so hard sometimes. But everyday is a new day and we get a chance every single day to do something different, and every small change counts. People can change and relationships can…

maybe you're thirsty and mistaking thirst for hunger? working out hard means you gotta drink. make sure you're getting enough protein and also make sure you are not just retaining water. salted or smoked almonds can be high in sodium. Or maybe you feel deprived because you're working out so you're eating even when you're…

cute! that is such a great idea! I'm gonna try it too!
