I am down to my last 2 Animal Paks
http://www.animalpak.com/html/sections.cfm?ID=7#Anchor-daily-47857
(for anyone interested in what they contain). Anyway, someone posted a link stating taking vitamins may not be effective; that the body does not absorb the vitamins. Animal Paks have many other ingredients and benefits besides being just a multivitamin.
So...knowing this should I continue in taking them, or replace them with something like fish oil and green tea capsules?

I read somewhere that an easy way to see how easy they dissolve is to put one on the dirt on a plant pot and see if it dissolves and how log it takes. Just a thought I never did this myself..0

I was taught that (in a college nutrition class like 10 years ago) nutritional supplements are not as easily absorbed as the vitamins contained in the food you eat regularly. That being said, look at how many foods we eat that contain additives: calcium in OJ, calcium in butter, fiber and iron added into cereals and bread, etc. and so forth. I think the goal is to maintain a balanced diet and eat whole foods, not altered material that might not be as easily absobrted. But this is 2011, obesity and diabetes are major problems. For me, I try to eat healthy as I can and get the weight off. In order to make sure I get all the nutrients I need on a calorie restricted diet, I take a multi vitamin daily and calcium/vit D supplements. That's just what I do. Hope it helps.0

I've read a few articles regarding vitamin supplements over the last year. I've read that taking supplements with food makes them more absorb-able. I believe the quality of the supplement has a lot to do with it too. The FDA doesn't regulate vitamin supplements but then again they have approved pills that end up killing people and they have to be recalled.
Of course it's better to get all of our nutrients from foods but even the veggies and fruits we buy in the stores don't have as much nutrition as they did say 50 years ago because they aren't given time to truly ripen before being harvested and sent to the stores.
I did find this with just a quick search online. Don't know how valid the article is - it came from the internet.

I still take a multivitamin, fish oil, coQ10, and a calcium/vitamin D supplement - all recommended by my doctor when I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. The article is if you take separate supplements. I do take my multi coQ10 and fish oil in the morning with breakfast. I take my calcium/vit D at night because I read the vitamin D has a calming effect. I don't know how much is true but I figure it couldn't hurt me that much.0
