  • Something else that has helped me is when I get the urge to get up and grab a string cheese or crackers or whatever I'm "craving" I force myself to think about something else or do something else and if I still want it in 10 or 15 minutes I may give in...but usually the urge has passed and I'm good. I have a ton of little…
  • That is certainly a hard habit to break, I was a grazer those few hours between dinner and bed time as well. Until you can completely stop yourself from eating after dinner, try limiting to one, high fiber snack (popcorn, a handful of nuts, cherries and a sparking flavored water of a cup of tea). I found that the easiest…
  • My aunt has been doing an anti inflammatory diet (eliminated Lectins) for about three weeks now and she is moving better and feeling better than she has in years. She had to eliminate the night shades (tomatos, peppers and eggplant) but she will incorporate them back in slowly to see how she reacts.
  • Thank you for that! Learned something new! :)
  • As a middle aged lady who has been fighting the battle for the past 20+ years I have learned quite a bit. The last thing that people struggling with addictions need is somebody telling them that they can't overcome. I would find new people for your support group...people that actually support you for instance. ANYTHING is…
  • There are some very wonderful people on this site that will be happy to support you and motivate you. Just remember my dear, what you think is what you receive. Tell your self every single day that you are beautiful and fit and healthy and happy and deserving of good things....and BELIEVE with all of your heart, and you…
  • I think the original point of this topic was not so much the advice and the different opinions but the WAY they are expressed. There is no need to reprimand and/or publically flog anybody. As one poster said...it's a matter of being civil regardless of your point of view. You catch more flies with honey....
  • I have had the same experience so now I try and make sure I track it before I eat it...it helps to see what the damages will be so I (usually) will make a better choice. I have REALLY been craving wings but I have a feeling that when I see what I'm really getting I will pass....sigh. :) Don't beat your self up...it starts…
  • I've been on here for a couple of weeks and I must say it really does make things better commiserating with people in the same boat. What part of AZ? I grew up there...I really miss it!
  • It's not about agreeing with everything everybody says, it's about respect.
  • Seriously? If I'm wrong then please enlighten...why ARE you so mean?
  • Because they are unhappy in their own life and it makes them feel better to degrade those that don't share their opinion. Anyone that tries to justify their rudness with being helpful and/or honest are kidding themselves. We all know why we are here and making themselves feel better at the expense of someone else is not…
  • God bless you, may you find peace and happiness in what ever you decide to do.
  • It's a catch 22....too many calories and as we all know, you gain weight...but, too few and your body slows down on the burning which has the same effect.

  • It's scary how much faster the weight comes on and how much slooower it comes off, the older I get. It does get a bit depressing. I think the one thing that is going to make a difference this time is the tracking of my food. I was SO off on some things I'm ashamed to admit it even to myself. We can do this!!
  • I like the chedder rice cakes ok but they are kind of bland....I found RiceWorks Gourmet Brown Rice Crisps and now they are the only "chips" I eat. They are so much more flavorful then the rice cakes...they really satisfy my crunchy-salty cravings. :)

  • All these diet aides have the standard "to be used in addition to a sensible diet and exercize program".... If I had that I wouldn't need the product! :) Maybe I'll try the new feeding tube diet... All kidding aside, I have tried various "get thin quick" products and as we all know, the truth is that if you don't change…

  • I know what you mean about getting lazy on the measuring but it has made such a HUGE difference to me...I learned how "off" I was on certain things...especially the stuff I love - like nuts...and steak. :) I have been taking a couple of hours on Sunday to make a healthy soup for my lunch during the week and to measure out…

  • I use the mobile app during the week and like Christylee76 I post my food immediately. It has made a HUGE difference in how I plan my day. I come to the website on the weekends (my second actually) to socialize with all of the wonderful people who have the same ultimate goal as I, to lose weight and get fit! Combining what…
  • Ooooh...me TOO!!! I'm turning 54 two weeks after Christmas and I would LOVE to wear a "little black dress"...emphasis on LITTLE! I'm bouncing between 165 and 170 right now so 30# will make me very happy! Count me in!
  • LOL...I guess you're right...bonus calories. I appreciate your effort...thank you! :)
  • Thank you...I feel the same way. I guess I need to find what works best for me and go from there.
  • Yup! I have had the same desk job for 12 years, not to mention I'm 53...it is amazing how the weight crept on and how HARD it is to get it off. I try and set up and walk around a bit during the day and when the weather is bearable again I will take a half hour walk at lunch. That is NO WHERE near enough but every step…
  • Nice work!!
  • The "trainer" at the gym I just joined told me that the benefit from the incline is minimal and that I was better off just doing intervals instead (2 or 3 minutes of higher speeds every 5 minutes or so). I thought that sounded a bit odd, how can walking on an incline NOT burn more calories?
  • LOL...that's funny! I am 53 and have been neglecting myself for so many years I had tricked myself into thinking I was good at "estimating" my calories/serving sizes etc. My clothes disagree with me too. I just tracked my Friday and Saturday food intake....for REAL this time and I realized how badly I have been sabotaging…
  • I have had the frustrating experience of being with an unsupportive, critical man. Everything was wrong...from the way I sliced tomatoes to the way I hung his shirts up in the closet...even the music I listened to (when he wasn't around...it was always his music when we were together). In retrospect I don't think he…
