Also, tv dinners and things of that nature are very high in sodium. Anything you don't make from scratch is likely to have a ton of salt in it, mostly as a preservative.

I usually just have one small "bad" thing a day, like a handful of small cookies or a half cup of ice cream. I always make room in my food diary for that treat, because otherwise I'll have a whole day of junk, and that whole day really shows a few days later!

You should still definitely be working out. It raises your metabolism and strengthens your heart, lungs, and other muscles. Just find something you can eat that you love, and only eat it if you work off that many calories a day. That's what I've been doing.

Your boyfriend does not sound supportive in any way. You're losing weight for YOU, right? Get the scale, go out and buy your own food, and be strong.

Hi, welcome to the site! Those hormones can be very potent drugs against our wishes, can't they? Cardio vs. strength training.. Cardio will help you lose fat faster and increase your metabolism, while keeping your heart and lungs in great shape. Strength training will make your body tighter and firmer, so it shouldn't be…

You're probably gaining muscle weight if you haven't worked out in a long time and started up again. It's wonderful that you eat healthy foods, and that's a great step. The goal now is to eat *less* of the healthy foods :) You sound really motivated and on the right track! I started using this site in June and I lost the…

Yes, you should definitely be eating AT LEAST 1200 calories per day. If you eat less than this, your body will think it is starving and suck up every little calorie it can find and store it as fat. If you work out, be sure to eat the difference in calories that the workout gives you. For example: Your calorie limit is…

I have a coworker who tried Nutrisystems and she thought it was okay. She's now doing Weight Watchers instead, which she prefers, because she can cheat more *rolls eyes* On the other hand, I have a friend who does Nutrisystems and LOVES the food. Combined with working out at Curves 3 times a week, she's dropped 60+ lbs and…

Hi, I've been using the site for a few weeks now and I love it. I've started posting here, so I figure I might as well introduce myself. I'm 21 years old and I was overweight in high school. I worked the weight off, and kept it off while working at a gym. However, I just started an office job, and while my coworkers are…

Congratulations on your decision to finally get that weight off! What kind of gym have you joined? If it's a regular style gym (where you work out alone and have to pay for a trainer), and you find it hard to motivate yourself, try bringing a friend. If you can't get a friend to go, try a gym like Curves, just for the fact…

I eat a lot of beans and whatnot. I also love Greek yogurt; Fage brand has 14g of protein in a small cup (but a lot of calories). I sometimes eat "energy" bars, they also can have a lot of the stuff. You just have to watch the sugar and calorie levels on those, as they'll often be ridiculously high for such a small snack.

I don't eat processed foods as a rule anyway. My biggest issue is that a lot of the best potassium sources are good for a snack, like a banana, but they have so many calories that if I eat them as a snack and can't include them in my meal, I go over my calorie limit for the day! I'm a pretty healthy person (I think), I eat…

I've been keeping track of my potassium intake and trying to squeeze in more potassium-rich foods. I've started taking a small supplement and I still can't get anywhere near my RDA. Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on how to get closer? Even on a good day I'm only around 900 out of 3,500. :(
