Anchorage, Alaska and I raise money for the University of Alaska Anchorage. I'd like to lose about 40#. I work a lot and have not been very good about integrating movement into my day. Of course, I also eat too much! I am working on both of those.

I have hip bursitis too and I have found that losing weight helps out a lot. Why can't you swim? I have found that swimming and yoga are good for me. I tell the yoga instructor about my condition and just stop anything that hurts.

I was always a thin kid, teen and young adult. But I think that most of that came from the fact that I exercised a lot: swimming, hiking, biking, sailing, etc. When I got out of school, I took a desk job but I still managed to exercise 4-5 days a week. When I married someone that is gone 6 months a year and had a baby that…

I met my hubs when he was 38 and while he might be eating a bit less at 53, he eats whatever he damn well pleases & is all thin/muscles. This is a typical day for my 53 year old -- 8 eggs with veggies/cheese, 2-3 heavy buttered toast, lots of bacon, heavy whipping cream in 2-3 coffees; big homemade cinnamon roll more heavy…

I am a fundraiser for higher education. I have been raising money for 22 years. I love my job because I get to hang out with generous nice people who want to help students. It is long hours and it is hard to spend 10 hours a day with very wealthy people -- you start wondering, why am I making about 1/10th of what this…

Nirvair Singh is the best for weightloss: http://www.yogatech.com/Nirvair_Singh/Weight_Loss_with_Kundalini_Yoga He is a Kundalini Yoga teacher and he is one of the best. His studio used to be down the road from me but sadly, he's moved to New Mexico. Now, I use the DVDs too! Sat Nam

My now husband asked me what I liked and cooked that for our first date...A that time, it was a vegetarian meal and since he is a hunter and commercial fisherman, it was awful hard for him but I really appreciated the effort.

Hi. I am 43 and I started this journey at 199# with a goal of 155# (about 44 pounds to lose). So far, I have lost 18# so I have about 26# to go. I am a working mom and my hubs is gone 1/2 of the year so while I have food under control most of the time, I am constantly trying to find time to exercise. I am not sure where…

When the number of toddlers out numbers the number of adults or the one adult is stressed/distracted. I am from Alaska and traveled to Hawaii with my 2 year old toddler. While I was paying one of our Hotel bills, she ran out the auto sliding doors into the street. A taxi driver saved her life. And, out came the harness or…

Hi. I just sent you a friend request because I'm in the same boat. I'm a career loving parent that works full-time and movement has been the hardest part of my journey. Food hasn't been that hard (but don't judge by the the last 2 days because I've been celebrating my birthday) because I have the time to not eat -- ha ha.…

Good luck on your journey. After reading through this thread, it sounds like portion control is one of your issues. Mine too. Due to the nature of my job (fundraising), I have to eat out a lot and I was having a hard time judging portions. I found this book very helpful: "The Portion Teller" by Lisa Young. It gives you…

I think weddings and funerals are for the family; not the couple or the dead people (I mean, the people getting married are already committed). Our weddings welcome the new person into the family. It is a ceremony welcoming her into his family and vise versa. I can see why she may not feel married without their families…

We notice the coconut flavor when making pancakes but when it's cooked into larger meals (ie stir fry) we can't pick it out...

Have you seen this site yet? http://getdrunknotfat.com/ It helped me get a handle on the calories in most of my favorite drinks...

Thank you for posting. Your journey is an inspiration to me and so many more who could not take the time to write a note. Good luck to you!

Before my kid, I was a kundalini yoga instructor & I think that anything that Nirvair Singh does is fantastic: http://www.kundaliniyogacenter.com/Videos.htm

What a wonderful post. Congratulations. I wonder what else 2013 has in store for you?

I thought the same thing!

And minus 100 (those 100 pounds!) in no time! Way to go!

Bump. I look forward to learning more about what people have to say

My mom said a similar thing. I was complaining about trying to find time to work out when trying to work more than full-time, be a mom/wife/friend/daughter, and take care of a home. My mom said, "of course, you are going to be fat -- you are a working mom. It is something that you have to accept." This is coming from a…

Me: I wonder when I will be able to see results? (after on my "eating proper portions journey" for about 4 months and losing 10#). Him: Well, when you take a cup of water from the ocean, it is difficult to see a difference. (said in a sweet-sincere-didn't-have-any-idea-he stepped-in-it voice)

My mom did a program a lot like this one (??) called South Beach. She has lost about 45# and has kept it off for years. However, whenever her weight starts creeping up 5# or so, she jumps back on "Phase 1" (the no carb phase of the diet) and then, she lives in phase 2 or 3 the other time (with a sweet cheat once a week).…

Your story is an inspiration. You really look fabulous! I too would like to help my daughter learn about living a balanced life, including eating healthy and exercise. Way to go!!!

I like this video a lot too. Very inspirational -- a tear jerk-er!
