  • Kickboxing! Focus on the upper body stuff and most of the lower body is just standing there and kicking, you don't have to do the jumping around stuff or rapid lower body movements if you can't handle them. You will still get a GREAT cardio and strengthening workout.
  • Weekly Goal: 3500 Mon: 599 (25 minutes circuit training, 30 minutes circuit tradmill) Tues: 446 - but I think I burned more, MFP is almost never below the treadmill count - (42:25 5k, interval on the treadmill, 4.5-6.0 MPH) Wed: Rest Thur: Rest (May have hurt something.....) • MFP adjusts the nutrients that have calories per unit, like fat, carbs, and protein. Things that have a set recommendation or limit, such as protein, fiber, potassium, etc, are not adjusted. I believe you can go into your own preferences and change it to whatever you want, just click on "custom" rather than "MFP…

  • She looks fantastic, and great job on the loss yourself! :) She looks so happy and proud of herself and her new body, way to go!
  • What an amazing, inspiring story! And what a beautiful end result in both you and your baby! Congratulations and thank you so much for sharing!
  • I LOVE buffalo! We get it really fresh here because there are a lot of buffalo ranches in Colorado. I have found it at King Soopers (Kroger/City Market) and WalMart. It is more expensive than ground beef, but it is also much leaner, tastier, and better for you than ground beef. I'm excited to hear that it is popular in…
  • I got sidetracked last week and never finished. I did over 2000 though, so that's still a win in my book! On to the next week. Weekly Goal: 3500 Mon: 599 (25 minutes circuit training, 30 minutes circuit tradmill) Tues: calories burned (how they were burned) Wed: calories burned (how they were burned) Thur:calories burned…
  • When they say 5 a day of fruit and veggies, they mean together. Fruits and veggies used to be 2 separate categories on the pyramid, they have just recently been combined because most American's weren't eating enough veggies and were eating too many fruits so to make them feel better "they" combined them. Really, 1-2 fruits…
  • The food pyramid, in my opinion, is skewed. I hate that bread is the base (since the gov't subsidizes wheat farmers) because you don't really need THAT much bread in your day. Could you imagine eating 8 cups of pasta in one day?! I live by the rule that I try to eat as many things that are healthy for me, so that includes…

  • bzmom - I just looked at my bottle, and it has listed under ingredients omega-3 (450 mg), omega-6 (110 mg), and omega-9 (110 mg) fatty acids. I don't know how much is recommended or in fish oil, but there is some in there which is good I guess!
  • I eat only wild caught salmon, talapia, cod, halibut, and tuna and occasionally shell fish. The thought of farm-raised, poo-eating fish makes me gag. Thanks guys, I feel better about this now! I have a TON of flaxseed in ground meal and oil capsule form, and am relieved to hear I'm not missing out on anything essential.…

  • :noway: UGH. I do these almost every work out with my trainer. She's a TRAINER. WTF? Leg press, close-grip seated cable row, hanging knee raise or a variation almost every workout. Grrrrrrrrrrr. Thanks for the info, I might have to bring this up to her!
  • Greek yogurt. I use it in everything now!
  • I think 180 is completely reasonable. You have to remember it might take a few months, and while you are TTC you can still be trying to lose weight. Then, once you are pregnant, you can continue to eat healthfully and exercise regularly to keep the weight gain at a minimum, say 25 pounds or less, which will be easier to…
  • I'm back in the game for this one! I am aiming for 3500 at the minimum. I have 2 training sessions, my birthday and my daughter's birthday this week, with her party on Sunday afternoon. I HAVE to burn enough to have a cupcake with her at her party!
  • I love me some popcorn. I add nothing to it, I pop kernels from a bulk package I have and I use a stove top method. It is very satisfying and if you buy high quality kernels it's really yummy without butter or salt. You can always add a few shakes of a salt-free spice mix like Mrs Dash if you don't like it plain. I don't…
  • I'm with Dr BorkBork. Cold turkey. That stuff is horrible for you. Smaller amounts of the real thing is always the way to go. If you want a soda, have a real one or mix sparkling water and fruit juice.
  • One of my faves: 1 tbsp olive oil 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped 1 onion, finely chopped (I used a shallot for the milder flavor) 1 14 oz can diced tomatoes 1 tsp dried chilli flakes 3 oz sliced low-fat mozzerella Handful of basil leaves Sea salt and black pepper, to season Cook the gnocchi according to the instructions…
  • Both are important. I do both at almost every workout, 30 minutes of each unless I am dong a longer run then I just do the run and a good amount of stretching. You don't want to be a flabby skinny chick. You also don't have to look like a body builder and most likely won't unless you are really trying to. I have noticed…
  • Oh my goodness, thank you all for the amazing ideas! I will try a few out and see what works best. The treadmills at our gym do have TVs on some of them, I could try that out - that and the downloadable books are right up my alley. Didn't even think about that one! Thank you thank you!
  • If it's been a month since you had these foods and they are making you sick, it's possible that you have an allergy, sensitivity, or even a gallbladder issue that has come to light after your "fast" from these foods. I would take it up with your doc and see what they think.
  • Oh my goodness, thank you. Seriously, there were presidents BEFORE Bush. There were problems BEFORE Bush. There are problems SINCE Bush. Not everything is Obama v Bush.
  • :drinker: We need an applause smiley. Thank you for your service, and for these words.
  • I worry about this too. He finally produces a birth certificate (I'm not a birther by any means, but for the sake of this argument) and then announces that Bin Laden is dead? That seems a little suspicious of misdirection. Hard to keep that thought out of my head.
  • I agree with this 100%. I can't believe that happened, it's such a terrible tragedy. I personally think that the celebrations are overkill. I am happy that the threat of Bin Laden is gone, I am happy that we don't have to worry about him anymore. But we can have tact about it, it is still a lost life. As much as I'd like…
  • I've been saying circuit training on the days that I do the high intensity, fast paced strength training. I take no breaks in between sets, I m constantly lifting for 30 minutes and working multiple muscle groups at once. I feel that it's a much better way to count the calories burned.
