I didn't want to go on HRT so at my doctors suggestion I have been on Black Cohosh for a while and it seems to be helping my symptoms. I get it at Walmart, $4 for 60 so not too costly either. Just wanted to share this.

A cup of tea alone would not be a bad thing for water replacement, but if you add sugar etc then it needs to be logged because it has more calories. Here is something I found to tell how many ounces of water a day a person needs to drink. To figure out how much water you need, divide your body weight by 2. This is the…

I grind my flaxseed and put some in yogurt. Works pretty good there as well.

The reason I added about the food consumption is because of the feeling of hunger that people who are diabetic have when their blood sugar isn't controlled, hence the weight gain. I am not saying that everyone that eats that way will become diabetic but what I am saying is that when someone's blood sugar is uncontrolled…

Oh and just a little more info, obesity is not central to getting diabetes, passmetheduck... read my post cause maybe it will enlighten you and others to the true reasons behind it....and its not just too much food and being overweight....cause my hubby is normal weight and he was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in April…

Being a diabetic that I had a genetic predisposition for and a nurse, I will let you in on a few things I know. To correct one thing I read, carbs that are not broken down as far as I know, don't scar organs. When you have diabetes, sugars are trapped in the blood in high amounts. The cells aren't absorbing sugar properly,…

Don't want to give anyone anything extra to worry about, but.... Hubby and I both had been having a lot of muscle cramps, his were in his legs, mine was in my side and calf. In April we were both diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Since we have been on meds and gotten our blood sugars down the cramps are gone, completely.…

I am 51 and just joined in August. I started out at 225 with severe osteoarthritis in my left knee and right hip. I started out just putting on some music I love and dancing around to it. Since then I have progressed to doing Zumba on DVD at home. At first I could only do 10 mins but now I do 65 mins at least 3-4 days a…

In 2009, I worked in an extended living facility as a nurse. I had the priviledge of staying with a patient who was dying while waiting for her daughter to arrive. I didn't want to leave her alone so I stayed by her side, sang to her and read from her Bible to her. It is an experience that I won't soon forget. Each of us…

All this really does is predict that if you eat the same way you did each day for 5 weeks that you will weigh ....... It is just an average i think to give you an idea of where you will be doing what you did that day...

I don't go to a gym and lift weights but I have been doing Zumba for cardio and toning. I use light weights but the videos are higher reps which I feel work for me, for now. I have lost 24 pounds to 201 from my starting 225 and want to get to 145. When I get to a point where I feel I need more weight I will add it but…

I am 5'4 and started at 25, now at 201. I am doing Zumba at home DVD's for exercise, both cardio and toning 5-6 days a week. I set my weight loss at 1 pound a week, and go with the calories MFP gives me. I also eat back 1/2 to 2/3 of my exercise calories on days that I exercise, but otherwise try to stay under my calories…

From a diabetics point of view, ketosis isn't a good thing to get your body into. It is hard on your body. But that is my opinion. Ask your doctor about it.

I started out weighing 225 and am now at 201. I have adjusted my calories after every 10 pounds or so. Besides that I also determined what size my frame was, and was surprised to find that I had a large frame. But my daughter, who weighs only 138 also has a large frame. There is an excellent site that I have found that…

Congrats on your first step toward a healthier and lighter you!!
