How many calories are you eating? Are you drinking water? Your diary is not open, so we can not view what your habits are or what you are eating. In the past, I have used calorie deficit calculator on fitwatch.com. It takes into account your height, weight, age and activity level to come up with a good calorie goal for…

If MFP set you at 1210 calories, then you should eat back most if not all of your exercise calories. They have you set at the minimum and your net (calories - exercise) should not go below 1200 calories. Remember that food is fuel and your body needs fuel to function. Food is not the enemy; eating the wrong foods and too…

That is a fantastic story!!! ABSOLUTELY you should brag about it. You have been proactive in changing your lifestyle and the results are showing. You are doing great! Keep it up!!!!!!

HI Brenda, What a scary way to find out that you have diabetes, but glad that you are being proactive about your diabetes. It could take a while to level out your fasting blood sugars. I have been working at this for about 3 months and my fastings are finally in a normal range (most days). Are you exercising? I find that…

Welcome to MFP and the Type 2 Diabetes Support Group. The people here are fantastic and have a wealth of information. It is great that you are wanting to learn more about the disease to help your boyfriend. I was diagnosed 7 years ago and am currently on insulin. I cook for my family of 5 and we eat real food. I have only…

I have been on insulin for almost 5.5 years but wasn't really watching anything when I first started, so not sure if I was gaining weight. I do know, that since I have been watching my food intake and exercising, the pounds have been coming off. Sure I make mistakes and slip up, but my doctor was thrilled with my progress…

Welcome to MFP and the Type 2 Diabetes Support Group. You will find that people here have a lot of good information and helpful knowledge. I have had type 2 for 7 years now. I am starting to get things under control. Weight loss and exercise is what is helping me. My last 3 A1C were 8.3 (June, 2012), 8.1 (January, 2013)…

I usually need a grab-n-go type of breakfast because of the busy weekday mornings. I either have a Zone bar or an Atkins protein bar, only about 210 calories. The protein helps get me through until lunch. I know a lot of people don't agree on the protein bars, but I have been eating them for a number of years and they help…

You look amazing and have done an incredible job in such a short time!!! Keep up the great work!

Your significant other should notice. 50 lbs is a lot of weight. Regarding the others around you, are you still wearing the same clothes? Maybe it isn't as noticeable then. At 26 lbs lost, I am still wearing the same clothes, although things are completely hanging on me and are baggy. I'm sure when I finally wear something…

Cleaning around the house, rarely, unless I am completely cleaning the basement. But general housework, no. Lawn work, yes. It is above and beyond what I normally do...walking behind the lawn mower, trimming the bushes, hauling the trimmings to the street and raking, I know I am burning a TON of calories Snow shoveling -…

A friend tried Sensa for about a year. I think she dropped 5 lbs and about $300 (or more). In my opinion, it was a waste of money.

You both look amazing!!! You are doing so great. Congrats on the success and the anniversary!!!

Good for you!!! Keep up the hard work and you will begin seeing the results before you know it!

It is advised that you not eat under 1200 calories and if you do set your limit at 1200 calories, then you should eat back the exercise calories that you burn. You may want to do a search on "In Place of a RoadMap" on MFP. It explains a lot about coming up with the right calorie number for you.

I'm not sure what you mean. My doc only tests A1C and then I test my glucose 3-5 times per day.

What kind of snacks have you tried at night? Have you tried protein? Lean meat , yogurt or nuts. I am on insulin and used to have high fasting blood sugars and my doctor had increased insulin at night. Now with exercise (which I tend to do in the evening), he has actually reduced my insulin at night.

I spent nearly 7 years in denial. I would try to watch what I eat, but I would slip up all the time. I would try to remember to test and then I would "forget" for days and wonder why my control was bad. I would try to get exercise, but I had a million excuses why I didn't have time. FINALLY, in January, it clicked. I knew…

Thanks everyone!!! It can be done...I am a firm believer!

Very inspirational! I am also a diabetic and am amazed at how quickly my numbers have gotten better. I will look forward to watching your progress!

Hi Nicole! Welcome to MFP! Today is the first day of the rest of your life!!! You can not live in the past and cannot undo the things that you have done in the past. Just, start making better choices and the results will start to show. I have been overweight most of my adult life and have been a yo-yo dieter that now has…

Welcome to MFP! If you put the work in, you will start to see results. Add me as a friend, if you want.

When is the last time you went to your doctor? You may need to visit again if it has been a while. Also, is this a general physiciab or someone specializing in diabetes? You may want to also consult a diabetic educator and/or diabetic nutritionist. As you know, diabetes is a very complex disease that is different for…
