Many people would say to throw away the scale. I wouldn't quite go that far, but would not focus on the number on the scale. If you are feeling better and your clothes are getting looser then you are building muscle. Just keep at it!!! BTW - how many calories do you eat? What kind of exercise are you doing?
-
I usually eat between 1450 - 1550 calories a day. I used the calorie deficit calculator at http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php to find out how many calories I should eat based on my height, weight, age and lifestyle. I have been doing this for 2 weeks and have averaged a 1.5 lbs weight loss both…

I'd like to add that you are a beautiful young lady and you should be so proud of yourself for making this step now. I wish I had taken better care of myself when I was younger and my kids were young.

I am going between 20-25% deficit. I often don't eat back my exercise calories. But most importantly...I am no longer starving and obsessed about food! That is why I knew I had to up my calories!

Yeah for you!!! That is an awesome NSV! Hopefully they went to a 2nd hand store or consignment shop and someone else will enjoy those jeans as much as you did! I told my husband (he's dropped 34 lbs) last week that he had to retire a pair of dress pants. They were so baggy on him and it was ridiculous. We went out this…

http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php This website has a lot of really good information and calculators. The roadmap is fine, but very confusing. The calculator above, is a little easier to understand. Although it doesn't account for your body size (i.e. small boned vs large boned). But, it gives you…

I like to use this calculator: http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php Based on the information you provided, to just live, you need to eat 1932 calories. So to lose weight, you would eat a deficit of that (15 - 30%). 15% deficit - 1642 20% deficit - 1546 25% deficit - 1449 30% deficit - 1352 I would…

I used a calculator found at this location: http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/weight-loss-calculator.php Using the information you provided, to stay at the same weight, you would need approximately 2095 calories a day. To lose weight, choose an option from the table below. 1467 calories October 27, 2013 1571 calories December…

Welcome to MFP, MRSHHJONES! This is a tremendous place to get support in your journey. If you honestly and faithfully enter in all that you eat, drink and your exercise, you should start noticing results on the scale and in your lifestyle. Glad you have found us!!!

Hi Molly! I just sent you a friend request. Glad to be here with you and hoping we can support each other. I am also a type 2 diabetic and have 60+ lbs to lose. My goal is to get off insulin and live a healthier and happier life. Would love to support you along the way. :)
-
I find MFP so much easier to use. I can walk in any store/restaurant and figure out what I can/should eat and without having to use a formula. Just looking at the nutritional information on the product/menu and I know what I am going to eat. I also like the app for my phone. Although that doesn't always work (synching can…

Welcome to MFP! I am also a Type 2 diabetic, diagnosed right before I turned 40 nearly 7 years ago. I have been in denial for these 7 years and am only finally starting to take care of myself. I have dropped 20 lbs since the first of the year and more importantly, my blood glucose levels have gone done tremendously. I am…

Welcome to MFP! I also have Type2, for about 7 years now. I have definitely noticed a change since I have been eating healthier and exercising. I am going to send you a friend request. I'll see you on the Support Group! You can do this!!!

Here is a really easy calculator to use to figure out how many calories you should be eating: http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php A woman at your age, weight and height with a slightly active lifestyle should consume 1912 calories to maintain. A 15% deficit comes in at 1625 calories. If you are not…

I looked at your diary and you are set for quite a number of calories. Have you ever figured out how many calories you "should" be eating? There is a great calorie deficit calculator you can use. It takes into account your gender, age, weight, height and lifestyle and tells you how many calories you need to live and even…

We are the same age. It definitely gets harder to lose weight over 40. Although, I really don't have any excuses except that as my 3 kids were growing up (youngest is 16 and the oldest is 24), I was just lazy. I recently upped my calories, as I was only eating 1270. It really has helped my temperment and my hunger. You may…

It is great that you have joined MFP in support of your husband. Is your hubby exercising? This has helped tremendously in lowering my fasting blood sugar. Before, my fasting was well over 200 and now, it is consistently around 100 (and even lower). The healthier diet has been huge in reducing my numbers as well. My macros…

Welcome to MFP! How many calories are you eating? Are you exercising? Those are all key factors in how much success you'll have. You may want to figure out how many calories you SHOULD be eating from the following website: http://www.fitwatch.com/qkcalc/caloriedeficitcalculator.php. You enter your height, weight, age and…

Congratulations for coming to MFP and asking for help. That is a huge step!!! There are so many people that have lost a lot of weight using MFP as a tool. You can search the success stories and learn so much from them. I am just starting out and don't have as much to lose, but I too have learned a lot.…

I ignore the people that are rude. I have surrounded myself with "friends" that support me and give me encouragement. I hope you find a group of people that will support you and give you encouragement. Add me, if you'd like.

Welcome to MFP, Lois (my mom's name, so I felt an instant connection to you). Glad you have made the commitment to MFP and you are doing an incredible job by already using the tool and posting on the forum. I don't have all the answers, but am pretty good (at least on weekdays) of offering support and encouragement. I will…

Hi and welcome to MFP! I am Nancy, am 47 years old and have type 2 diabetes. My husband turns 50 this year and we decided it was time to take care of ourselves and lose the weight. We are both doing well and can say it is from being able to honestly and acurately track our food and exercise and thank MFP for being an easy…

Hi! Grew up in Racine, lived for a bit in Iowa, Pennsylvania, Milwaukee and have settled in Grafton, WI (just north of Milwaukee). Love WI!!! Especially the change of seasons...so ready for spring to finally be here!

Hi Nancy, I too am Nancy and lived in Catasauqua (not too far from Bethlehem) for about 10 years, but now live back in my home state of WI. Welcome to MFP! You can do this. You just need to log in every day and honestly and acurately enter the food you eat and the exercise you get. Results will follow! I will send you a…

Keep it up! Glad you joined us

My two cents (okay...I guess I really did have quite an opinion on this)... - make sure that it is easy enough to pronounce, based on the spelling. If you have to always say/type the actual pronunciation, then it is probably not a good choice. - decide if you want the name to be shortened or appreviated and make sure you…

Thank you for sharing this! I have been trying to keep a spreadsheet with the information, but there are so many variables. This is going to help me better keep track of my numbers and share with my doctor.
-
That is fantastic! You are doing great!!! Keep it up. :)

Welcome to MFP! This is a great place to get support and for tracking your food and exercise. If you do those 2 simple things, you will begin to see results. I am a type2 diabetic and have found a lot of support from the forums and groups. Not sure if you are type 1 or type 2, but there are definitely a lot of people out…
