  • Many of us on this site have the same problem, that is why we have a weight problem. However, by creating this account, you have acknowledged you have a problem and want to change your behavior. Today is a new day. Let whatever you did yesterday or last week or last year stay behind you and move forward! You can do this!…
  • I so agree on this one!!! For the 30th anniversary of when my husband and I met at an amusement park, we are planning a trip back to the place (in about 3 months time). Last time we did this, we were too big to ride on many of the roller coasters. Not this time!!! We are determined to have a blast that day!!!
  • SAHmomma - we are pretty close, although I'm an inch taller, but I have probably shrunk as I am in my late 40's! :) You have done a fantastic job with your weight loss. Sounds like we are about the same now and have about the same goals.
  • ittybittybado - you're pretty close to me! 5'6" SW 236 CW 218 Goal 156 (maybe)
  • I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like it could be water retention. Are you drinking a lot of water? Do you have elevated sodium levels?
  • Welcome to MFP! You will find that there are a lot of people in our 40's that are trying to get healthy for ourselves and our families! I am 47 and have 3 men/children (24, 20, 16) and have been married for 27 years. I work 2 jobs and have very little time at home, especially when I add in all the housework and gym time. I…
  • Welcome to MFP! If you honestly and accurately enter everything you eat and all the exercise you get, you should start seeing great results. Congrats on finding the site! You can do this!
  • First of all, let it go. Today is a new day! Don't be afraid to step on the scale. Just do it, get it over with, and start over again (just like pulling off a bandaid - get it over with quickly will hurt less in the end). Start tracking your food and exercise (again) and you will start to show results (again).
  • Hi from the Milwaukee area! The key to your success will be in how honestly and faithfully you enter your food and exercise. If you do those alone, you will have success. It is great that you have cut out the soda and sweets, have started eating healthier and have joined the gym. Now just continue. Set small goals, so you…
  • I too am Type 2, was diagnosed about 7 years ago. I am on insulin to control my blood sugar levels. There is a great group called "Type 2 Diabetes Support Group". You may want to join and learn from those that have successfully lost weight, are still learning and those that are just starting out. It is a great place to…
  • Wow, Wow, Wow! Can't believe the transformations!
  • Thank you! I just bought brussels sprouts last night and will be making them for dinner tonight. This topic couldn't have been more timely for me!
  • Awesome! Keep it up!

  • If you have an Aldi's Store near you, they do have a version as well. It is called Happy Farms spreadable cheese. They have 3 versions, regular, light and Light Garlic and Herb. I have found these at Aldi's near their "chunk" and parmesan cheeses (at least in the stores I have been to). They are slightly lower in calories…
  • I made mashed potatoes last night with just potatoes, skim milk, salt, and pepper. I just typed "mashed potatoes made with skim milk" and it came up with something. I just measured out 1 cup and figured it was close.
  • When you have time to make PB&J sandwiches, make a bunch ahead of time and put them in the freezer. That way when it is time to go, you can grab one, pop in microwave for a few seconds to defrost and then head out the door. Zone Perfect or Atkins Meal bars are really delicious, have protein and carbs and will get you…
  • That is such great news! I hope to get there too. Maybe not by the summer, but hoping by the fall. I notice the change in my numbers even having dropped 16 lbs...can't wait to see what they are when I see my doc in April. Nice work!!!
  • Welcome to MFP! You have already had success and you can do this. I personally don't think of this journey as a "diet", but as a "life-style change" as I want to lose the weight and keep it off. I wish you continued success!
  • Welcome to MFP! You will begin seing results if you honestly and accurately enter all the food you eat and all the exercise you get. If you aren't honest with yourself, then it won't work. It sounds like you've had great success by applying the AA principles to your life and you should have the same success in your weight…

  • [/quote] Peanut butter is absolutely the wrong thing to eat to correct a low. It has no carbs, a little protein and is mostly fat which slows the absorption of any carbohydrates you do eat. You need an easily absorbed source of simple sugar in a controlled portion. Having a low is like getting the munchies when you smoke…
  • HI Nancy - My name is also Nancy C and have been experiencing the same things. In fact, this morning, I woke up at 1:30 feeling "shaky" and tested. My blood sugar was 57. I ate peanut butter on some bread thins and felt better soon. I should have thought to grab the glucose tabs I bought over the weekend, but didn't have…
  • People do it all the time. I have seen people ask people if they live in a certain city and want to be workout buddies. You may just want to see if there are any MFP'ers out there from your geographical area. People will respond, if they want to. As far as searching in a specific georgraphical area, people may be creeped…
  • Welcome to MFP! As long as you honestly and faithfully enter all the food you eat and the exercise you get, the pounds will start coming off. Good luck on your journey!

  • Welcome to MFP, Linda. You can do this. You just need to honestly and faithfully enter all the food you eat and all the exercise you get and you will begin to see results. Good luck on your journey!
  • Good for you! Keep it up; you're doing a fantastic job!
  • Excellent work! Keep it up. It has got to be amazing to see the progress.
  • I can definitely see that you have lost a lot of weight! 50 lbs is an incredible amount and you should be so very proud of yourself. Don't give up. You are an inspiration to me and I'm sure to so many other people. Don't focus on how much you have to lose in total. I hope you have smaller goals set for yourself. You really…
  • You were very brave taking the picture and posting it for all of us to see. But you have done an amazing job in your transformation and can be very proud of where you have gotten!
