I was 252 five months ago. I've been militant about my diet and losing consistently. I'm down around 60lbs (currently 190.8). I suppose if I had been working out harder I could have lost a LITTLE more... but not much. I lost 20 the first month and around 10 each month after.

If you were losing a pound a week and it's only been 2 weeks, how do you know it's not 2 lbs of: 1. Water retention from sore muscles or swelling for some reason 2. Food waste (poop) If it's #2 (ha! Literally!), then take some fiber. Eating more won't cause you to lose fat but if it forces out whatever is in your…

Which takes more energy: watching what you eat or being overweight, hiding your fat, and your eating habits?

Went to dennys. Had a bit of some scrambled egg whites on half am English muffin, a little butter, one piece of Turkey bacon and a spoonful of grits (never had them before) And mediocre coffee.

Sweets, which I've given up completely. And snacking, which is harder to change.

Here's why I use libra: I weigh every day amdbof course there's fluctuations and days that I don't lose even though i think I should. Libra helps show that whatever my weight is, it's usually right on trend with where I should be and I don't have to worry about the odd fluctuations.

I'm also 50. I've lost around 60lbs in 5 months. very little exercise (just walking a few times a week). My guess is that you're not logging everything correctly. Make sure you don't overdo it with cooking oil, dressing, or portion sizes and you drink plenty of water.

I have a 2 hour drive, then I sit at my desk from 9am-5pm, then a 2 hour drive home. needless to say, once I eat dinner, I don't get up.... so here's how I get moving: I take the stairs whenever I can. I go to the bathroom or the printer or the water cooler as often as I can. I either walk at lunchtime, or I take a 15…

My husband is 6'2" and I'm 5'4". At the beginning of April he weighed 230 and I weighed 252. So obviously I was heavier than him but he wasn't skinny. Then he got diagnosed with diabetes and had to quickly change his diet. I changed my diet dramatically as well but he didn't stick to it all that well. He still had soda…

It depends on a TON of things. How heavy you were/are. how closely are these people looking at you. How you hold your weight. How you dress. how quickly you lost it. how comfortable are they with talking to you about it.

I've been losing steadily and feel great, eating high protein, low sugar foods. So: Greek yogurt Beef (or turkey) jerky grilled chicken, fish, and sometimes red meat roasted peanuts in the shell fresh fruits and veggies lots of different kinds of protein powders lemons to add to my water

Hi daisy. That's actually am old way of thinking that was never true. Your body may retain water and times but that's it. Because we are MFP friends, you may have noticed that I eat under 1200 cals a day (medical reasons) and have lost weight steadily. Anorexics also continue to lose and they truly starve themselves. Any…

This is the best response! I love it. I broke through the 200 mark. After a week of no loss, it poured off. :) I didn't change anything so it was just water i guess.

I've lost around 50lbs in a little over 4 months so I have a lot. At the beginning of April, I was slightly over 250lbs Seeing people I haven't seen in a while and having them say, "OMG you look great!". Putting on pants that were snug 3 weeks ago and discovering they are no longer snug Having my husband call me "skinny".…

That's me too, exactly. I sometimes will even go back up a tiny bit, or drop a tiny bit, then back up. Then a few days later... boom.... another low. and I'm consistent with my calories.
-
Did you just start doing cardio and strength training? If so, your muscles will retain water for a bit. I don't know what your weight is, but 20lbs in a month is pretty aggressive unless you're substantially overweight.

So here's my experience: I was 55 lbs heavier than i am now and when I got hungry, I felt weak and lightheaded. Every day. Then I had a medical issue that needed surgery and I can no longer eat much at once. Aaand I no longer get light headed. I seriously think it was all in my head. I just couldn't handle feeling hungry.…

It's frustrating, I know. whether it's a real plateau or not, and whether they exist or not...you wake up in the morning being SURE that today is the day the scale will move... and then it doesn't. I've been losing steadily and consistently for months. 2-3 pounds a week. and last week? No loss at all. not a big deal…

Not eating all of your calories won't cause a person to be malnourished. Not getting enough nourishment will cause it however. Someone can eat 2500 calories of cookies every day and be malnourished, or 2000 calories of lean protein, fruits and vegetables and calcium and be in great health. Telling someone to eat more…

ha... you may be right (I do take fiber though) I think a lot of people have a misconception about how much "monitoring" happens when a person is under a doctor's care and on a low calorie diet. I see my doc every 3 months and he has actually never asked me what I eat. I've told him, and all he asked is if I'm taking…

lol... I actually mistyped that... I meant to say the opposite. I'm not in a rush to lose. I know it will happen.
-
I'm not starving. When I'm hungry. I eat. I had a physical last week and I'm off all meds. Bloodwork was good. I'm 50 btw. My doc knows my diet.

Starvation mode? I'm not going into the mysterious and illusive (and mythical) starvation mode because it doesn't exist. I am eating less that 1200 cals a day and I do log often, so the days that I don't, i ate either the same calories as the days that I do, or if they are over 1200, I don't care because ..well because…

Congratulations! Great job! I know it's water weight, of just my body catching up. I don't get frustrated usually... actually since I do weigh every day, I often look back at my weight from 2 weeks prior and it usually evens out to 2-3 lbs a week. Hopefully I'll get under 200 this week. :)

Nice! I'm sure it will happen for me. I'm not worried really...just anxious to pass that goal. It actually had been making me laugh every morning. To the person who suggested I give up bread- I hardly eat bread at all. Once or twice a week I have a slice of Ezekiel whole grain bread (80 calories) and once a week my…

Lol...then it would be a total mystery to me and if have to do math. Math is harder than dieting. :)

Your body went into starvation mode? what is that and how do you know? (I'm super curious, as there is no such thing as "starvation mode". Maybe you just weren't eating well.) There's nothing magical about 1200 calories and a person can eat 1200 calories a day of total crap, or 1100 calories a day of protein and fiber...…

I have lots of them. 1. Protein keeps you fuller longer. Fill up on lean protein first. 2. If you get hungry at night, try to save a small amount of calories so you can have a snack later (like an apple or a piece of cheese). 3. If you have a craving for something that doesn't fit in your calories for the day, promise…

besides everyone else's good advice here, I'm also going to suggest that since you mentioned that you are eating decent sized meals, that perhaps some of your hunger is psychological. when I know I'm not able to eat everything I want, that's all I can think about. my hunger feels intense and I feel weak and lightheaded. On…

ha... I clearly remember back then and every time someone said they weren't losing, EVERYONE jumped on the "you're not eating enough" bandwagon. I had so many arguments with people about it that it made NO sense. I was going to make a post about it now, how trends have changed. Because also back then, a lot of people would…
