  • i'm sorry too. it's always hard when people we love leave our lives. he was just as lucky to have you in his life as you were to have had him in yours. Let yourself grieve and then do something kind for someone in his honor.
  • i have a desk job and i've learned to pack my lunch every day. I plan it on sundays when I go food shopping to make it easier. Try single serving hummus and a baggie of carrots and celery. take an apple and some single serving cheeses. THere's also tons of 100 calorie snack bags of nuts or crackers. I buy low sodium…
  • that is a VERY cool story. I had something just like that happen years ago, after I lost 100 lbs. I confused an elderly neighbor, who just could not get the fact that I was the same heavy woman living down the road from her. I'm hoping I have a similar story next year again. :) Great job on the change!!
  • like when I drive to work (in fair lawn) and tell them there was a bear in my driveway and everyone looks at me like i'm nuts. Or when I'm late because my car was frozen over and it's 40 degrees at the office, but 31 at my house (high elevation).
  • i'm on week 2, day... 2. I couldn't quite finish W2,D1, but I got the 2nd day done. so far so good!
  • amber! you're shrinking! that's a great difference in barely over a month!
  • beans are high in protein and not really low calorie. You can find some great recipes for roasted chick peas (I buy them already roasted in the grocery store). Great to snack on and hard to stop eating.
  • wait. you've lost 26lbs since SUNDAY?
  • 40lbs since august 8, 2012
  • I have 3 dogs: a 12lb Maltese a 45lb English Bull Terrier (like the dog on the Target Ads) a 140lb Great Dane I also have 3 cats, 5 chickens, 1 rooster, 1 horse, 1 husband, 2 kids, and my son has a bearded dragon.
  • I'm lucky... Current Job: Marketing Manager/ Art Director and Graphic Designer Dream Job: Graphic Designer that earns a good living (see current job)
  • My son is 6'1", 21 years old, and he says he's around 160 but I'm guessing got closer to 150 for a while. We were starting to worry about him- he looked too thin. Like, verging on "gaunt". I didn't want to load him up with junk, but I bought him some granola bars, protein bars, and some chocolate to keep in his room. I…
  • what do you mean by the word "tone"? You want to be less giggly? lift weights. eat plenty of protein and find a good routine that you can stick to. Don't listen to anyone that tells you to lift light weights - that won't do anything. lift enough weights so that you can just do 8-12 reps - 3 times.
  • i read your post to my daughter, who is 16. i asked her what you should do and she said said you should explain to her that not eating enough will slow her weight loss AND her metabolism and if she wants to lose, she should do it the right way. :)
  • that's great! I also lost .6 of a pound, making the last 7 day total: 2lbs. :) I started the couch to 5k program, and even though it's only 29 minutes long, i think the increased effort is helping. I also started getting cramps today though. :(
  • I have found that making my food diary public makes me feel more accountable. It also opens you up to lots of possibly unwanted advice, but you''ll get good advice and encouragement too.
  • I just finished week 1 and i think I'll repeat it, but go faster. Running is SO difficult for me and i was really out of shape. I ran week 1 at 4.0 and walked at 3. I couldnt finish day 1 but i did 2 and 3. It felt so good. Lol I am going to take it slow...when i can do week 1 a little faster, I'll move up to week 2 and…
  • that's one of my all time favorite books too. He also wrote "I know this much is true", which is another favorite of mine because I have twin brothers and one is autistic. My other favorites are: The good earth, by pearl buck. I never thought I'd love it as much as I did. I couldn't put it down. Memoirs of a Geisha, by…
  • It's so great that you're here. I have a feeling that you're going to impress all of us, but mostly yourself, with your progress. I sent a link to this thread to one of my MyFitnessPal (MFP) friends, eye4art, who started at around the same weight as you. She is encouraging and warm, and she inspires me all the time just by…
  • you really are a pretty girl! This site is FILLED with people who are or were heavier than you and felt that they couldn't do it, and they did. Sometimes it was easy, sometimes it was hard, and other times it was actually FUN, but i bet every single person here who has started to lose weight is shocked that they could do…
  • My kids are 16 and 21. when they were little, I just made sure they had plenty of healthy snacks and wouldn't watch their calories- I just tried to make sure they weren't eating too much junk. Now that they are semi adult and adult - my 16 year old is trying to lose a few pounds. She looks great as is, but i'm supporting…
  • yeah, i see it all the time, and not just from thin people. I see it here too, which sucks. comments like, "you go enjoy your lettuce... i'm going to have a pizza." okay, yeah... that helps.
  • haven't read the rest of the responses yet, so if you've given the answer, I don't know it, but I'm guessing 160 as well.
  • dan, I calculated my tdee yesterday. 2049. I'm currently 217lbs, so i think a 2lb a week weight loss is still reasonable, which of course puts me under 1200. Now, if your arguement is that I shouldn't be in such a rush to lose weight, or that eating like this isn't sustainable, I can tell you a few things: 1. I have no…
  • This seems pretty accurate. My TDEE is 2049. To lose 2lbs per week, i'd have to eat 1000 calories per day below that (or 1049). I am eating closer to 1200 per day, and averaging 2lbs per week exactly. (i'm trying to get some walking in per day too)
  • I used to be SO addicted to sugar. I'd stop at a convenience store on my way to work and get coffee and a bag of candy almost every day. I don't have any, anymore, but I do chew gum for my entire drive (a few pieces - I have a long drive to work). Instead of candy in my desk, I keep a bag of dry roasted edamame or chick…
  • that looks delicious! Hubby and I went out to eat. I was going to have a big salad, but then I saw that they had a veggie bean burger on the menu. calories for that seemed good. It came on an onion roll, but I only ate the bottom half. It had a slice of melted cheddar and some kind of pepper aoili (mayo), pickle, and I got…
  • omg, it's so funny that you posted this today. I went shoe shopping earlier (and I seem to be out of wide width!) and every time I bent over, I needed to discreetly reach into my jeans and pull up my panties. I came home and changed, got on the treadmill, and my stretchy yoga pants keep falling down. when I was done I was…
  • This is 3 months difference: 250 lbs: 218 lbs
  • well you run a lot, and walk around 3x more than me (and plenty of other people here) per day, so you're probably averaging the same net calories as someone eating 1200. I don't think you can compare your progress and calories with other 1200 cal eaters because you're activity level is allowing you to eat more.
