I'm up for it even though I don't really know what a shred is. However, I am in a brutal weight loss challenge with my wife - the one who loses is a domestic slave for a whole weekend !

Muscle soreness happens to me anywhere from 1 to 3 days after weights. No real pattern
-
I had it for over a year and it was state of the art awful - I tried nearly everything from massaging, foot-rollers, ice packs, shoe implants cortisone injections etc, but it didn't improve (these have worked for other people, but I was unlucky). Finally I had shockwave therapy on my feet - based on ultrasound, it feels…

If she knew I was a highly trained UFO spotter I would like to think yes, but once she saw my tin foil hat, I'm afraid reality may bite and the deal would be off...

This will sound like a boring response from me, but try to get a trainer with qualifications in exercise physiology, or go and see an exercise physiologist. They're great at both working around these sorts of injuries, along with getting a proper remedial set of exercises to deal with the injury (my PT is trained in this…

totally agree with all the above (maybe not the cockroaches or alien probes). Do not obsess about the scales. Look at measurements and body composition

See your doctor - make this the issue. It may be something trivial / maybe not, but that person is the one to tell you. Work with your doctor, or whoever he/she refers you to work through this.

I would still explore the personal trainer - don't be afraid to ask about their qualifications, and avoid those that have only done 6 week courses etc. It's true that there are mixed experiences out there, but you will increase your chances of success with someone who can properly assess your goals and set an appropriate…

I do hope this isn't a horrible play on words. I remember a certain weather report...

You look wonderful - great job.Be proud.

In a word - don't. Eat real food, make it nutritionally dense (google it). Having said that, my wife & sometimes do the meal replacement shakes in the morning when we are in a hurry (self made with protien powder wheatgerm psyllium husks and fruit etc) but two or more replacements a day (unless medically directed to do so)…

View my diary and you'll see my weakness begins with the letter "A" as well (cheese is a close second). Like you I have high blood pressure (had it since my mid 20's when I wasn't overweight - long before my "before I did what I did to myself shots" of 1999 on my profile!), but I'm managing it. I find resistance training…

I feel curious about your wish to eat "high calorie" foods. Maybe you should try to include more "nutrient dense foods (google them) in your diet - if you aren't doing so already. It is sadly possible to eat too many calories and still be undernourished (a big night on the turps can do that and more...). MFP is a useful…

As for what I said before, her personal trainer may have a very good exercise routine for her, so it may not be wise to throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are no easy answers here. First and foremost, your friend must still keep up enthusiasm for a better lifestyle, even if it comes in slow steps (exercise with…

Personal trainers are a mixed bag. Even if they have been properly trained, some people will have their own agenda which will override their education, others may feel awkward about advising people about their eating habits. It's really unfortunate that your friend has got a trainer that doesn't have a good overall aproach…

I totally agree

For me, this is an intersting tool, which focuses me on what I am consuming, vs what I expend. I do not put absolute faith in the figures posted by this application, and sometiimes when I am recodrding the calories, I go for the nearest approximation I can find on the database. Other than that I am brutally honest with…

It is a useful tool to track your intake vs outgoings. When you have achieved your target weught, why not use it to keep yourself there at least until healthy eating habits are a natural part of your life?

"Feeling muscle building" is one of the best results you can have. Most people vex themselves about the scales, but should be concentrating on their body composition (eg body fat percentage). Concentrate on your results in the exercises and maybe on the actual body measurements (waist hips etc)
-
Spot reduction doesn't work. Best advice is the addition of resistance training to your routine (others have said this proviously so I may as well say "what they said")

Go to www.taste.com (or taste.com.au I forget which at present I'm having an old moment) Lentil & Chirizo stew (among others)

I had it for about a year. I tried everything, insoles (orthotics), heel pads, stretching, those overnight stretching boots(I've forgotten their exact name) icing my foot and cortisone shots. Only the shot gave me temporary relief. Finally my podiatrist tried shockwave therapy, after four sessions things improved greatly,…
