  • I calculated her numbers for her on fitnessfrog & fat 2 fit radio based on the stats she gave me (age, current wt. goal wt. height, activity level) Her BMR on the Katch-McCardle was 1352, on the Harris-Benedict formula it is 1665. I was told to use the Katch-McCadle because it is more accurate :ohwell: Her TDEE was 2282…
  • Doctors and Psychologists are not always right, especially when it comes to one person's willingness to try their hardest to get well. It wont be easy but it can be done! There are many people on here that have lost 100, 200 and more pounds. Please don't give up before you even try. Perhaps join a group for people who have…
  • This may help you decide. http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/dry/ One thing to be careful of though is that some vets get "kickbacks" (can't think of the proper word at the moment) for recommending certain brands of dog food, others have their student loans paid off if they recommend certain brands. This was…
  • I feed my dog Taste of the Wild. He was on Iams for several months and had horrible problems with his skin. I found out he had an allergy to his food. In the past I fed my dogs Iams thinking I was doing a good thing buy giving them quality food. All three of them died in a little over a years time from cancer. I later…
  • Definitely working out is harder for me. I work 13 hour shifts, and sometimes have to drive an hour or more to get to my patient's home. The last thing I want to do is exercise! Snacks aren't usually a problem as I pack my own lunch and take it with me. Even when families try to be nice and get me to eat something I don't…
  • This is what I do as well.
  • This. Logging everyday helped open my eyes to where I could make healthy substitutes for the things I loved that weren't the best for me, plus showed me where I was doing well at. I also get the "munchies" late at night. Instead of letting it turn into a binge I now plan for eat with a healthy snack. Give yourself time for…
  • Central Florida. originally from West Virginia....missing those beautiful mountains.
  • These chicken breasts are delicious. Even my picky husband likes them and he doesn't usually like chicken! Spicy pecan crusted chicken breasts: 4-4oz chicken breasts 1/2 cup chopped pecans 1/4 cup bread crumbs 1 1/2 teaspoon orange zest 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes 1 large egg white only 2 tablespoons…
  • Well I fit the bill. I love food, cooking & trying new things. I am slowly learning to make my favorites into healthier versions. And, so far I have logged on MFP for the past 45 days and logged everything (and I plan on doing so until I reach my goal and beyond.) Feel free to add me if you want.
  • Way to go. This inspired me as I also am 5'2" and started at 240....gives me hope!
  • I learned in nursing school that a normal resting heart rate is between 60-100 beats per minute. As long as you stay under the recommended maximum heart rate you should be fine. However, if you are experiencing chest pains, dizziness, etc. then you should not go as high as that. As you work out each day your heart will…
  • I'm an LPN. There is a nurses group on here that you can join as well.
  • Amazing. what an incredible achievement. So happy for you. I wish you continued success.
  • I agree the headaches could be withdrawals from soda, caffeine, etc. However, as a nurse the dizziness concerns me. Are you eating enough calories? Has this happened to you before or is it something new? It could be related to your blood sugar levels, not eating enough calories, standing up to fast, etc. If it continues…
  • I wouldn't call it lying to my food log, I would call it lying to myself so what's the point. I know if I ate something or not, my weight shows it, my clothes show it, etc. It's not human frailty it is excuses. Excuses are what got me over weight to begin with. I came here to stop the excuses and be accountable.
  • When I was in nursing school 3 years ago I had to do a research project on artificial sweeteners. Some of the things I read in peer reviewed scientific/medical journals was scary. I stopped eating & drinking stuff that had artificial sweeteners in them. Think I will try & find that paper or some of the research again.
  • I love skinnytaste. Great way to still enjoy my favorites but in a healthier version.
  • This! Agreeing in prayer with you & others that your father will be healed and that the donor family will find peace that passeth all understanding in this difficult time.
  • Really? Do you think that was helpful? OP, you are not an idiot, there is no such thing as a dumb question, and as you can see from the above quote not everyone on MFP knows what they are talking about. I agree with the other posters that you are not eating enough. I started out eating only 1200 calories (some days a…
  • Weight goal: to lose 80 pounds Fitness goal: to do cardio & strength training 5 times a week, tone up, climb a flight of stairs without getting out of breath! Other goal: walk my dog a minimum 5 times a week in this hot Florida weather (gotta get up earlier) Met goal: my goal this month was to lose 6 pounds, today is the…
  • Support: to endure; tolerate,to be capable of bearing; withstand, to hold in position so as to keep from falling, sinking, or slipping. There have been many times in my life that I have been given advice by others and although I may not have been able (emotionally or otherwise) to respond to them as they would have liked,…
  • I don't think you are eating enough calories. I started doing that in the beginning, however, when I upped my calories to almost 1500 after reading several posts on here I started losing more. I would up your calories a bit more for a couple weeks and see if that helps. Give your body time to adjust.
  • I third it....sooo good
  • So inspiring, thanks for sharing. Congratulations to you.
  • Please do not start taking laxatives they can/are harmful on the body. Like the above poster said see a physician if you want to go that route. I am a nurse and have seen the effects of laxative dependency...not pretty. To increase peristalsis (contracting movements of the intestines) you want to drink lots of water (at…
  • This. I love mine!
  • Congratulations, you look great!
