• Cabbage sauteed in bacon grease with kielbasa.
• Coconut chicken & green beans.
• If you don't mind using a hack there is a way to set up MFP to count net carbs. Here is a video showing how (if link doesn't work look for YouTube video: How To: Setup MyFitnessPal for Net Carbs by Manda Panda https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtHtVCblKlc&index=6&list=FL3Dq9g93AXBeCdVAU5qoQdw
• Don't count them now. I used to count calories because I believed in the calories in calories out theory even though it never worked for me. I now do keto and count carbs. With that method I have lost 19 pounds in 5 weeks. So I will probably count carbs until I lose all the weight I want to and then periodically monitor…
• This list is great. I'm a home health nurse that works long shifts with no way of heating anything up. Thanks.
• Hi anna_lisa. I am new to this group as well. I have also just came back to MFP after quite a long absence. Congrats on the 40 pound loss. I have just started Keto (actually I am in the "preparing" to start phase as I am gathering up meal plan ideas, recipes, etc....I'm a bit of a control freak like that). I have a lot of…
• I don't. When I tried that I was miserable. Then I came across a forum post about calculating your TDEE to figure out your calories and upped mine to between 1500-1600 and was able to steadily lose 1-2 pounds a week last year. I gained it back during a stressful period, now I'm back to lose it again.
• Though a lot of people don't agree, 1200 calories is pretty low are hard to maintain long-term. When you reach a plateau at that amount of calories you really don't have much to "play with." If you were eating more, say 1400-1700 calories a day & hit that plateau you can go lower to get through it. At 1200 calories you're…
• I'm vegan & hubby is a die hard meat & potatoes guy. Cooking can get frustrating at times. But lately I have been doing this: make meatballs for his spaghetti, I eat just the pasta, he gets meat tacos, I make black bean tacos (really good), he gets beef fajitas I get veggie fajitas. This made my life a bit easier. Lunches…
• The way I understand it is, when using TDEE (in your case 1680 calories) those are the amount of calories you should eat in a day regardless of how much activity you do. You ignore MFP's recommendation to eat back calories. If however you start exercising more than normal you would want to recalculate your TDEE. You also…
• Welcome. You have taken a step in the right direction by joining MFP. I will be 47 in 2 weeks & I want to lose a large amount of weight as well. I know when you look at the numbers it can seem overwhelming & leave you feeling unmotivated. Just take it one day at a time and try not to think of it as "I need to loose 100…
• I log every day, no matter how many calories. We celebrated my husband's birthday yesterday. I told myself I was going to "celebrate without worrying about it". But, seeing those numbers helps keep me accountable. I have found I lose more consistently and quicker when I log. I lost a little over 30 pounds last year then…
• I live in Pinellas Park, FL. Should have included that in my OP....lol
• Congratulations that is awesome. It is inspiring to hear that even with adversity us "older" woman can do it. Hooray for you!
• If you are miserable you are not going to stick with it long term and that is what is important. Sadly, most Doctors don't know much at all about nutrition it is not something that they study in medical school other than maybe a 3 hour lecture. They are often misinformed. In nursing school I had to take one semester of…
• That's great, congratulations. I have been debating whether or not to take the course. I'm a nurse so I know that I could use it as CEU credits but was wondering if it was worth it or not. As in, is it just more of all the stuff I've already read or seen? Did you like it, would you recommend it? Thanks for any input.
• The recipe I entered had 1 cup rinsed dried chickpeas, 1 small onion, several spices & 2 tablespoons lemon juice ( a baked Falafel recipe, uses no oil). Not really an area where user entered data could differ much. On here it said each patty was 16 calories on the other site it said 44 calories...considerable difference.
• Just moved to Pinellas Park. Trying to get back on the weight loss wagon. I lost 30 pounds last year then gained it all back again during a difficult period.
• A while back there was a long thread on chicken recipes, if you check here you will find a lot. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/post/search
• I went in and changed my custom goals to 1700 calories and carbs 40%, protein & fat 30% does that seem correct? Is the 1700 what I should be eating on non-workout days as well as workout days? Sorry, I am so confused, and don't want to gain back what little I have lost  but am tired of being hungry all the time…
•
What kind of exercise do you do? and for how long? if none then your BMR is 1673 according to Scooby and your 15% cut is 1707 fat2fit radio has you at 1679 as your BMR and around 1700 would be your cut with no activity.
Between a sedentary job and being a student I don't get a lot of activity. At most…
• This! I don't like the word cheat either, it is to negative. This is a lifestyle change for me & that includes eating things I want in moderation when I want them without beating myself up about it.
• A lot of my massage patients have sciatica that I work on. Find a good therapist, one that uses cryotherapy (ice) along with myofascial release/trigger point therapy & stretches. I also agree that a good accupuncturist can help. Good luck, I have this problem myself on occasion due to herniated disc. It is quite…
• What do people do when they accidentally have a binge?
I've never "accidently' binged. I have "on purpose." I knew what I was doing, knew I shouldn't do it. May have felt like I didn't have any control at the time but that is not true, you always have control over what you put in your mouth. Don't mean…
• Don't give up before you get started. As much as you may hate to, counting calories really does work. This site makes it relatively easy once you get the hang of it. Most people are creatures of habit and generally eat the same several foods. Once you know what yours are it will get easier. It's okay that you can only do…
• Me. I live just outside of Orlando. But, I.m a party pooper.... Hate it here, can't wait to leave in the fall back near the beautiful mountains. When I first came here someone told me that you either love FL or you hate it. I have since found that to be true.
