LPN doing crisis care for Hospice. I work 13 hour night shifts and often have to drive an hour or more to my patient's home...makes for a long night.

I take lots of finger foods, celery, cucumbers, green peppers, fruit, some hummus and Special K multi-grain crackers are my favorites. I eat "breakfast" with my hubby before work (which would normally be a dinner meal during the week.) When I get home in the morning I'll eat a small amount of cereal with strawberries…

Bump. Can you tell me how many servings total this makes?

gbelltx is right, one day is only one day out of 7! Don't beat yourself up about it. It's never good to be negative with yourself when you are trying to make changes in your life. Just keep going one day at a time, some will be good some not. The important thing is that you don't give up! I started back on MFP about 3 or 4…

Peristalsis (the contracting movements of the bowel) is aided by drinking lots of water, regular exercise, and eating a high fiber diet. Before starting MFP I had severe constipation problems (as a nurse, I knew what I should do but wasn't doing it.) Now that I am watching what I eat, including all of the above mentioned…

I tried the spaghetti squash to...not my cup of tea & I love veggies. I do like the thin whole wheat spaghetti noodles when I want to eat "real" pasta.

I lost 40 pounds in 2 months on the divorce & depression diet! I also ended up losing my gallbladder, gaining back all the weight & then some, with a messed up metabolism. I know you don't want to hear that slow is the way to go but it really is for long term healthy success! I am now working with a doctor who specializes…

I love homemade pita chips made with mini whole wheat pitas, spray with Pam olive oil spray & sprinkled with spices. Bake for about 8-10 minutes. So good.

I like the Breakstone's 2% reduced sodium brand with fresh fruit, usually oranges. I'll have it for breakfast or a mid morning snack.

Fantastic! Congratulations :flowerforyou:

Welcome, I'm also here because of my Dr. (although, being a nurse I didn't really need him to tell me what I already knew myself!) This is a great site. Make sure and log your food intake, it is a big help. I was so surprised once I started doing this. The calories add up fast. I'm sure if I were to log a "typical" day of…

I just found out on Thursday that I was very near to being dehydrated which really surprised me as I was drinking 5-6 glasses of water and 1-2 cups of green tea a day. My doctor told me he wants me to drink a minimum of 72 ounces of water a day. He then said for every cup of tea I drink I have to drink 2 cups of water (or…

I understand, it is so hard to do this. But, I wanted to say something about "willpower." I too used to think I just didn't have any willpower then I heard a message from Dr.Oz about it. Willpower is all well and good, just not very useful really. Think about it, you can say to yourself I am going to hold my head…

Hi, if someone says 'I'm Christian," I really don't know much about their path. Are they Baptist, Methodist, Catholic, Pentecostal, etc. etc. The same is true of paganism. There are many pagan paths; Wicca, Druidry, Asatru, Heathen, Celtic Reconstructinist, and on and on. My suggestion would be to start reading about the…

Hi, I don't have children of my own but I have a step-daughter who is almost 15 and has been asking me "pagan" questions for many years. I think it is good to teach the basics; Sabatts, Esbats, what you believe about deity, what magic is and is not especially in this world of Harry Potter and Sabrina the teenage witch (my…

Hi everyone, I go by Autumn (not my real name). As you can see from my profile I joined MFP a little over 2 years ago. Looking back the time wasn't right for me to try and lose weight so I am now back again. I want to lose over 100 pounds (trying not to think of the big number and breaking it into smaller goals this time…

When I was in nursing school I had to do a research paper on the artificial sweeteners that are used in products like Crystal light, etc. What I found out was pretty amazing, I wont touch the stuff myself. I would reach for the caffeine before reaching for the artificial sweetened crap.

Losing is one thing, doing it in a healthy way is another. I once lost 40 pounds in a little over two months (due to depression, not dieting) and I ended up having an emergency surgery to have my gallbladder removed. I was told it was a result of losing weight to quickly.

Thanks everyone.

I'm not GLBT, but have many friends who are and I know for certain they wouldn't like the "fruity" thing. Perhaps that's why it didn't get much response. Just my 2 cents.

I was told by both my doctor & a dietician to only weigh myself once a week, use the same scale every time, & preferably (sp) at the same time of day, wearing the same clothes. I know this probably doesn't help with your original post but thought I would tell you. Also, being "obsessed" with the scale isn't helping you…

Thanks, I will check them out.

I'm new here. But not new to weight loss. I have lost and gained the same pounds over and over again. The important thing is that you never give up, keep trying, and one day we will get it "right" and reach our goals. I understand how you feel. I weigh more now than I have ever weighed in my life. I knew I had gained…

The amount of workout these people do is insane. I have read some of their stories following the show in various magazines and they all say the same thing....they work out 5-6 hrs a day or more and in "real life" they could never do that. Also, every one of them including the winners gain back some of the weight after the…

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

I'm in. Sad thing is I gave it up for 4 years cold turkey. Then one really hot day in the summer 3 years ago at a very hot laundry mat I needed a drink and the only thing the machine had was soda so I figured one wouldn't hurt me....WRONG!That first sip was like ahhhhhhh I've missed you and I have been drinking it again…
