When I have gone backpacking I usually carry about 25-35 lbs and hubs 35+. We are usually on uneven rough terrain.

My favorite is roasted garlic with carrot sticks. I would go with a flavor that you usually like.

I have been looking for something similar in my area. My kids go to different schools (middle & high school) and their times start too close together for me to easily transport both. I have seen a bunch of transportation vans with different companies around the high school but have yet to find the web page for any in my…

Normal means different food to different people which may not coincide with your choices. Do you only want to eat 'healthy' to lose weight? If so you do not need to change what you eat but reduce portions for yourself. So fill half or more of your plate with a salad (sans tomato and a very small amount of dressing) or…

Well the tracking is either off on how much you eat/drink or how much you burn. Other have suggested tracking intake more closely. Maybe get your RMR (resting metabolic rate) tested? Check hospitals, clinics, nutrionalists around you to see if they have a machine to calculate this. It looks at amount of oxygen your body…

I get how you feel. Guys have different hormones and their bodies work slightly differently than women's bodies. My hubs can think about losing 5 lbs and 2 days later he has. Just be happy for him and you be happy for you. OP kudos to you for working out, eating healthier, and being honest about how you feel. @JoRocka-…

Good job! I would look up some stretching exercises for squats on youtube. Doing stretches after working out might hurt while you are doing them but you will feel better afterwards.

pork roast + BBQ sauce slow cooker on low for 7-8 hrs shred meat using two forks or take sauce out and reduce add back to meat and shred use meat with buns eat with some salad use meat for tacos

Since you mention thyroid/glucose issues maybe get your RMR tested so you have a more precise idea where to start and eat at a deficit from there. What are your stats? I get that counting is not sustainable for you. It is not for me either and I do what you do to lose about 5 lbs. It makes me focus way too much on food.…

I have one of those. And when he does gain a few pounds he just has to *think* about losing it and poof it is gone a couple of days later. He has no concept of how difficult it is. I don't get any kudos for working out or eating healthy from him, but that is okay because I was the only one who wanted to change how I look.…

Your salad is fine. I would worry that if you are finished for the day that your calories are so low. Try to get as close as possible to the calories even if you are over by a small number. Once you have that under control you can focus on your macros.

How about -garlic hummus and carrot sticks -peanut butter and celery -those tuna packets that come with crackers, or even flavored tuna packets (gotta have the protein) Have fun!

Awesome job! I had the same thing happen to me. After I got back from my 15 day trip to Washington DC I figured I gained a couple of pounds even though I was trying to be very mindful of how much I ate. So I get on the scale and am shocked to find that I had lost 3 pounds! I kept weighing my self frequently for the first…

I would say you were shallow if you chose guys from the site solely based on their picture and nothing else. Personally I think it is hard to know if you are attracted to someone unless you see them in their entirety, in person- how they behave, their body language, their expressions, their outlook etc.

LIke the above poster I have added more protein to my diet like eggs, tuna, cottage cheese & nuts. I have reduced carbs. I find that keeps me full longer.

I've been there for lunch once. I got the three tacos. It was good but I wished I got the salad instead because it looked more filling.

We were in Belize, Ambergris Caye (an island) a couple of years back for our honeymoon. If you have the time go snorkeling (absolutely must!!). The water is beautiful and the sea life amazing. We also went on a trip to visit some ruins (with a smaller tour company) but nothing compares to the snorkeling. We did not spend…

Modified from cooking light-- I have also made this relish type salad with Vietnamese pork skewers: shred one carrot shred one cucumber mix in 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice 1/4 cup rice vinegar 1 teaspoon minced garlic 1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce, 1 sliced serrano chile 2 tablespoons sugar stir until sugar dissolves, let sit…

I make something similar except I leave out the Dijon & celery seed and add spicy salsa. Super yummy! especially with a few chips or celery sticks.

On my last flight I took hummus and carrot sticks- crunchy and filling.

Usually the lentil dishes are less calorie laden but still filling. Also the chickpea curries usually don't have cream. Tandoor chicken is marinated in spices & yogurt and then grilled so that is a good meat option.

I know how you feel. I am 46, 5'2", with an RMR of about 1300 which is slightly below the average for my age/height. So that leaves me very little wiggle room for what to eat. I started at 140 and just wanted to lose 10 pounds, but that 10 pounds is next to impossible. I have always worked out consistently throughout my…

I have not done a class in a few years, but I loved it. It was so much fun jumping around to loud music. I was doing step classes regularly all the way into the early 2000's. And yes I had firm calves and thighs. The last time I did a step class a few years ago I was dying 'cause I could not breathe and then for days my…

If you are looking for something a little nicer than Applebees, Outback etc. check out Seasons52. Everything on the menu is less than 500 calories even the dinner entrees. They are in many major cities across the US and the food is seriously yummy! They also have mini desserts which are a few bites of pure goodness.

I go through periods of not being able to sleep. I have -cut back on caffeine, stopping caffeine at around 4 pm -no gadgets while in bed-- computer, ipad, phone etc. -completely dark in the bedroom -there is lots of light coming from the TV, router, phone, blinds etc. -make the room a little cold and have a down blanket…

At buffets my strategy is to take only 1 tablespoon of the items I like to try. I like tasting different foods. I only go back for a reasonable serving if I really like the item. Stay active. Walking is great because you get to see a lot of the area and get a reasonable amount of exercise too. Enjoy it!
