  • Well, I can tell you, your "waist" isn't the same as your belly. :) I was measuring my waist around my love handles below my belly button (it was my biggest around other than my hips). Turns out your waist is where you crease when you bend sideways. It's usually your smallest spot (especially if you're an hourglass…
  • That's sad. The Kenpo is my favorite one. But, yes, I have to adjust my living room for the kicks. Especially when you have to do the front, side, back combo. I could see doing plyometrics or cardio as a sub, but yoga isn't taxing on your body in the same way as the Kenpo at all. I know the yoga in P90X isn't the typical…
  • The safest recommended rate to lose is 1 pound/week. So, it seems like you are losing that. If you're eating 1200 calories and also burning 1200 calories, then your net calories are ZERO. That's not good. Your metabolism may have slowed because it thinks you are starving in some wilderness and it doesn't know when it is…
  • I can't help with how long it will take. It's taken me just over 6 months to lose 30 pounds, but that's over half of my goal. Just want to say: DON'T GIVE UP! Looked at your profile and your reasons are definitely worthy and you are worth it! It's awesome that you're doing it and this website definitely helps. Keep the…
  • You did not gain 2 pounds overnight. Unless you ate your allowed calories plus 7,000 yesterday. Which I doubt. Weight can fluctuate by up to 5 pounds daily. Settle down. Remember you're in this for the long haul (unless you aren't and then I can't do anything for ya)
  • Have you tried measuring yourself? One month I only lost 3 pounds (yes, all month) but I lost a good 2" round my belly that month alone. Muscle weighs more than fat. You cannot go by the scale alone. Plus it says you signed up in February? You haven't been at it long enough to be that fed up. :)
  • Go for dark chocolate. Over 70% cacao, preferably. This is the chocolate that has health benefits. It's also lower in sugar and calories.
  • Not the healthiest way, but definitely possible. Google "Calorie cycling". It worked for me when I had an injury and couldn't exercise.
  • Your body craves the same thing your mind does at this point: change. Change it up. You don't have to work any harder, just smarter. Try changing what you do for exercise. If it's always been the treadmill, try some zumba or some kickboxing. If you've been focusing on lowering carbs, start focusing on getting enough fiber.…
  • I was getting really bored with my workouts until I started doing kickboxing. It's something that I love and always wanted to really do. The videos are a start and they burn more calories than anything else I was doing previously. Also - you may want to try Pilates or yoga. I thought I wouldn't really care for them at…
  • I love Center Stage. Corny, but I'm a sucker for a dance movie and I love the sequence at the end. If you think Legionaire is the worst Van Damme movie ever, you've never seen Knock Off or Death Warrant. (Or No Retreat, No Surrender, but he was barely in it) I totally agree with Catwoman. I would add Hannibal, Hot Rod,…
  • Just today I was able to fit into a size 10. I tried on four pair to make sure it wasn't a fluke. When I started on this road 6 months ago, I was in a size 16.
  • It's probably all protein anyway :)
  • I have a similar situation with one of my guy friends. He is about 150-200 pounds overweight and just keeps getting bigger. Then he complains about the way he looks and gets really ticked if anyone even gently tells him he's overweight. He lost like 80lbs on some hopsital diet, then gained it all back and then over again…
  • I think "Circuit training" might actually be your best bet, because it really is intended for people who do circuits (usually on machines, but using your body weight as in for the pull-ups and push-ups in P90X is fairly equivalent.
  • The only thing you can do in spots is tone. You can try doing toning exercises for your thighs (squats where you squat, come up, lift one leg out to the side, then repeat with the other leg for instance). This may help tone the outer thigh, which might give you the effect you're looking for. But yeah, to just burn fat in…
  • If logging bad days is going to make you obsess over it and feel guilty, then I'd say don't. Better not to dwell on the bad and then start the cycle of "I'm depressed, so I'll eat, cause it doesn't matter anymore". For some people, that is how their minds work. I log my "off" days (which I schedule and do on purpose) so…
  • Oh, Bill Conti. That was definitely in my playlist back when I jogged.
  • Being fair: March 1st is less than a week away as this is February. But yeah... no one ever asks me why I didn't before, but I would have said that I hate exercising when my husband's around.
  • I only lost 3 pounds this last month, but lost 2" off my waist. Not trying, that's just what happened. My diary is public: don't know if there's anything in there that could help.
  • If you have Netflix, look in the Instant Watch stuff - there's a bunch of workout vids and it'd be free.
  • Disclaimer: I have a predisposition for showtunes and music we listened to when I took dance classes in the 90's. Ladies Choice - from "Hairspray!" anything by Technotronic Little Less Conversation - Elvis Dance Commander - Electric Six The Cup of Life - Ricky Martin (sounds stupid, but it gets me moving) Slave 4 U &…
  • Does it cost? It keeps saying "Free trial".
  • Just to clarify, I really didn't mean it as a judgement, just that some people need or want to have a great # of friends and others don't care and only add people they know. Don't want to make anyone self-conscious :)
  • If I request people I don't know, I always say why. IE: "I saw your post on this and liked what you had to say". Some people are just friend *kitten*, I guess.
  • Awesome! And sizes are definitely wonky. I am wearing a 12 these days, but I had a pair of jeans that were a 16 and still fit fine. Not one, but 2 sizes bigger. Weird. I swear jeans just run smaller, but I do have 2 pair of 12's that fit.
  • Hahaha... BTW - I like the Maximus Decimus Meridius thing you have going. "Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife and I will have my vengeance... in this life or the next."
  • Haha.. I use regular Irish Spring body soap, but I love my milk and honey hand soap. I can't fall asleep unless my hands smell like milk and honey.
  • My worry is more that once I see I can lose a bunch of weight, I won't know when to stop. I've lost 27 pounds so far and for awhile I was happy when I looked in the mirror, but it seems like I feel as fat now as I did when I was 27 pounds heavier. I'm a little OCD, so I'm afraid that I won't be able to let go of the reigns…
  • I understand. I have turned a few people onto MFP (including my husband). While I do want them to be healthy, a couple have more than me to lose and I know I'm gonna be super pissed when they pass me in the "pounds lost". Even though, it may be the same or smaller percentage of their total weight that they are losing. I…
