  • I'm 5'6". At 202 I was a size 16. Now I'm a size 12 and weigh 175 currently. Brnad sometimes makes a difference: I always wear Levi jeans and Daisy Fuentes dress pants (they fit the best)
  • That's weird. It only gives me that message when my total cals are under 1200. Most people will say it's the net cals that count. But it's one of those things where there is no definitive answer, so do whatever works for you.
  • As you lose weight, yeah you should update them periodically. However, if you're set to lose 2 pounds a week, then your daily calorie deficit is 1000, so I wouldn't worry about bumping it back up a bit. You can do the "manual" set and set it to whatever you want.
  • The scale usually reads 4-5 pounds heavier the week leading up to it. Then it goes away the day I start.
  • Cheesecake and potatoes (any kind including mashed, scalloped, potato chips - they are my weakness)
  • I'm at work. It's 3am here. I work 10pm-6am Sunday through Thursday. I pretty much hang out here all night. I work front desk at a hotel, so the spurts of actual work are few and far between.
  • The Crunch ones are definitely the best ones I've found. I do Crunch: Candlelight Yoga and Crunch: Fat Burning Pilates. I wish the yoga was a bit more advanced in the Candlelight Yoga, but there are SO many yoga ones, wading through them all intimidates me. I really liked the Pilates one, though. The Self ones actually…
  • I weigh myself daily and keep track of any fluctuation more than 1/2 pound with an app on my ipod. I only record my weight here when I've lost some, lol
  • Netflix is a website where you sign up as a member and they send you DVD's in the mail. You watch them, send them back and they send you more. You can sign up for whatever number of discs at a time you prefer. You can also watch many movies streaming online. I live in the U.S. and have no idea about it's availability…
  • I am aware. I just found it amusing that they used that as an example. I usually have either a glass of milk or a bowl of fiber-rich cereal before bed.
  • I have no help or advice, but I have been noticing the exact same thing. I get about 1/2 what MFP wants me to get *on a good day*.
  • Just found this though: "If you are hoping to gain weight, adding a nutritious, calorie-dense evening snack to your day, such as whole grain toast with peanut butter, avocado or cheese, may help you reach your goal." [ Read more: http://www.livestrong.com/article/87749-eating-before-bed-gaining/ ] May not have been the…
  • There is actually little evidence to support the theory of eating something before bed being worse than eating at any other time.
  • BTW - the one I recommended is 44 minutes, but the first 4 minutes are really just intro and I usually skip them :)
  • There are a TON of Yoga videos on Netflix Instant Watch, if you have that. The one I do most is "Crunch: Candlelight Yoga". It's definitely beginner level. I take a yoga class that is a bit more advanced, so it's nice to do some easy yoga on the days I don't have class.
  • People who sing wrong lyrics to a song. If you don't know the lyrics, don't sing when you're around other people. People who feel entitled to anything they haven't earned (though that one doesn't seem very silly). Restaurants with terrible iced tea :)
  • Try eating things that are higher in calories, but not necessarily in volume. That way you can eat about the same amount of food, but get more cals. Almonds and peanut butter or other natural fatty things are good for loading on the cals. Very small amounts have loads of cals, plus protein which is always good.
  • An article my Dad sent me a long time ago. It helps to put it in perspective: One Meal to Good (or Bad) Health Everyone knows a good diet is important for long-term well-being. But a new study shows that it's also crucial for good health today By LAURA BLUE Posted Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008 Want to know how many cheeseburgers…
  • I can actually breathe in child's pose (it's a yoga thing).
  • Apple juice works for me. Still a bit high in sugar, but certainly much better for you than a soda.
  • They say it's best to have some lean protein a couple hours before working out and then protein after. But yeah, general consensus is not to eat RIGHT before.
  • I didn't start exercising until I was used to eating healthy and it no longer felt like a sacrifice. Then I exercised for 3 weeks and hurt my back, so I was out of commission for another 5 weeks. When I couldn't exercise, I took to calorie cycling and I was losing weight faster than I am now exercising most days. However,…
  • That is the best feeling! Congratulations!
  • Gilad Janklowicz's "Total Body Sculpt"
  • The body responds to change more than anything. If you have the same routine, then your body has gotten used to it and will want to maintain the same weight. Just try changing up your routine. Or try calorie cycling. Eat 1600 cals for three days, then 1200 for three days and just cycle it. I lost more weight when I was…
  • I stopped drinking soda before Halloween of last year and haven't had a single sip since. I drink skim milk, plain iced tea and water. That's it. I was drinking a bit on the weekend in August and September 2010, but one weekend i realized it really screwed with my mood and made me tired and irritable and SO thirsty! So I…
  • It generally tastes like whatever you cook it with. It doesn't have a strong flavor of its own, which makes it very versatile.
  • Our anniversary is the 11th, so we typically celebrate that and not Valentine's Day. We're going out to dinner to our favorite restaurant for the anniversary (6 years) and then will probably go home and watch the new episode of Supernatural that airs Friday :) We're a bit nerdy.
  • I do not live in a health-concsious town (I live in Northern Indiana) and I have to go way out of my way to even find good foods. Obviously any grocery store will have the fruits and veggies, but I do like my carbs and it's hard to find healthy choices around here. There is one grocery store by where I work that carries…
  • Might want to try this, if you have the discipline and/or time to map it out. http://www.answerfitness.com/316/zig-zag-dieting-fitness-nerd/
