I decided to take a sneak peek and step on the scale for the first time since I started the regimen on day 23 of the 24 day challenge. I had gained 22 pounds. Needless to say, I didn't complete day 24. Fortunately, it was a friend who was the distributor and she said she would front me the stuff and guarantee the weight…

My (adopted) daughter is small, and when she was in the Army there was one point in her tour where the Army made her gain weight to make the minimum weight standard. Here is a link to their chart for weight ranges proportional to age and height. http://usarmybasic.com/army-physical-fitness/army-height-weight-standards…

No, but look at the calories. I just eat the 2 entrees.

My "Go-to" is Quaker reduced sugar granola bars, 100 cal, 5g sugar. If anyone knows of a 100 cal bar with less than 5g sugar, please let me know!

I don't look at the charts. I knew I was huge at 455 ten years ago. At that time I didn't care. In this, my current weight loss timeframe, I started at 415. Didn't really have a goal. Loosely followed Weight Watchers. Lost a bit but not much. Then I found MFP. Several people had recommended it and I also heard others…

Do you dip it in Paul Newman's salad dressing?

Between my advancing age causing my hearing to wane, resulting in me having to turn up my Heavy Metal Rock louder, combined with the fact that my internal left turn signal light is not working, I find myself doing this about once a week. Oh, and I also hang on to the rails when I walk on the treadmill.

Started with a goal of 100 lbs lost, then moved it to 200 lbs lost. As I steadily approach the 200 and with a date goal by the end of the year, I'm starting to think about when I hit that goal to extend it to the upper limit of the US Army official weight for a person of my height and age and gender. That would make it 230…

5 pounds a month x 12 months = 60 pounds.

I lost 2 pounds somewhere. But I know exactly where the rest of them are: stacked in the corner on the gym floor.

Same as above  When I hit the official Army weight for a person of my height, I am going to dance on the roof nekkid. :noway:

I second the Maple Grove Farms. I follow a low sugar regimen, and their sugar free version is 5 cal/2 Tbsp with zero sugar. I will say, however, that the strawberry flavor doesn't taste very good on a salad containing tuna. :ohwell:

A trainer at the gym gave me a basic guideline for eating and losing weight. The most important aspect of it was staying under 45g of sugar a day. I didn't follow it perfectly, especially the sugars. I hit plateaus that lasted a long time, and got really frustrated. REALLY FRUSTRATED. I stood on the scale week after week…

Been there, done that. My highest ever was 455, somewhere in my late 30s early 40s. Its nice that you have a spouse willing to join you in the effort. As far as the gym goes, I really don't give a flyin' leap what anyone else thinks. I pay my membership dues and therefore have purchased an equal right to be there and use…

My main snacks are Quaker Stila Strawberry - 80 cal, 5g sugar. And Quaker 25% less sugar granola bars, 100 cal, 5g sugar. Others include a serving or half serving of crackers or chips. I spent a little time in the cracker section reading nutrition info, and picked out a few different chips and crackers to keep some variety…

Why don't <fill in the name of your college rivals here> ever go elephant hunting? Its too hard to carry the decoys!. How do you get a <fill in the name of your college rival here> off the front porch? Pay him for the pizza!

I spent over half my life trying to please parents. I finally woke up and realized its my life to live. Do the 5K !!! Set a reasonable goal. My reasonable goal was to get to the finish line. I moved it up a notch, and then set the goal to get to the finish line in under an hour. Have someone take a picture of you crossing…

Dance on the roof NAKED!

I gotta chime in on this one. At my heaviest ever - about 10 years ago, I was 455. When I started this current effort two and a half years ago I was 415. Currently I am 261. I got all the previous mentions beat (except the pregnancy) - BUT NOT ANYMORE AND NEVER AGAIN! 1. When you are too fat to fit in the Santa Suit. 2.…

WTG! Some people may have come looking for boobs. I was looking for a picture of you in a convertible!

I rest my case.

Try making small changes one at a time so you can see which one worked. I was on a 2 month plateau. Under the calories consistently, exercise consistently, the number never budged. Keeping all other factors the same, I cut the sugars to less than 45g per day. So I stopped the daily banana and other high sugar fruits, found…

Interesting thread. I am a bit older, 54, but many people guess that I'm in my 40's. I was married 30 years and never cheated. Divorced two years, I have tried online dating twice - two different sites. Injecting a bit of humor here, but there's always a bit of truth in humor, otherwise it wouldn't be funny. Its…

Do several "practice" 5K's beforehand so you know what your endurance and comfortable pace is. Don't worry about beating everyone else, just concentrate on completion. Its OK to walk, and its ok to finish last ( I finish last 75% of the time), Make sure they have your correct T-Shirt size. HAVE FUN!

When someone wants to break in to my five minutes of time doing 3 sets of 15 reps and use the machine I am using so they can get their workout in faster......... take a breath, look at them head to toe to head to toe to head, and say "OK. It looks like you need this machine worse than I do." Then allow them to use the…

I have recently tried on-line dating. After studying what women are looking for I decided to open my profile with: "I am not athletic and toned, I do not make $100,000+ , and I live 3 hours from the beach so I normally don't take long walks there. If you are still reading this......." Surely none of these women are so…

WTG !!! CONGRATS !!! My highest ever was 455. When I started this time I was 415. I joined that under 300 club around the first of the year, Now down to 266 with 215 as the distant goal and 250 by the 4th of July as the intermediate goal. MFP has been a big part of that. 5Ks as well.

My first 5K was over an hour. That was 3 years ago. Even within the last year I had people tell me before the event even started that they didn't think I could make it. The best revenge is Success! I got my on-pavement time down to 52 minutes, and my treadmill time down to 46-48, depending on how hard I want to push myself…
