I think I was too thin in high school. Don't remember my weight, but I know I was a size 0 - size 2 (now a size 10 after gaining A TON then losing 75+). When I look at pictures of myself, especially in a bathing suit, I look like bobble head! Unless you are in an unhealthy weight range/body fat range for your height, I…

I won't be logging during Holiday celebrations because it's too difficult to track how many calories are in each food. I definitely won't pig out, I get uncomfortably full quicker than I used to. I will continue my regular exercise routine during the holidays to counteract some of the extra calories I eat. Here's a great…

I like gettting the compliments, it feels nice to know that my hard work and dedication is paying off. What actually annoys me is when I'm asked for my "secret" and get disappointment when it's eating less/healthier and exercising. I find it incredibly gratifying to motivate and inspire people, but I can't give anyone a…

whatever you do, just eat! Don't skip dinner just cuz you had a big lunch. You should probably eat a light dinner, but don't worry about going over your cals every now and then. If you skip dinner, you may end up binging later if you get real hungry, then you'll be worse off than if you have a light healthy dinner that…

I've lost 70+ lbs starting at 234.8 lb/5'4". I'm down to 162 lbs and I don't have any lose skin. I think the key is to incorporate strength training into your routine several times per week. Try Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 and 30 Day Shred. They are a great way to start off. Good luck and congratulations on the weight…

Right on, sister!

Question: What was your activity level like before you started this? If it was absolutely nothing, then maybe you truly are not eating enough and your body is going into starvation mode. Try upping your cal by a bit, maybe 100, and see what that does.

I agree with this. I lost 60 lbs on ww online. I got annoyed with having to calculate points and free is working for me now! I also think that there is much more support on MFP than I ever got with ww online. I know that would have been different if I went to meetings, but I'm not willing to pay $40/month. I learned a lot…

sounds delicious! thanks for sharing.

I calculated your Basal Metabolic Rate (http://exercise.about.com/library/blbmrcalculator.htm) and the result is 1485. This is the amount of calories your body needs to live and perform basic functions like breathing and pumping blood. By not consuming at least this amount of calories, your body goes into starvation mode…

Congrats! I am nervous for that day, but I am still several weeks away. Thanks for the motivation and keep up the great work!

I'm from Dracut! I have an open diary. Please add me :)

I record every week (unless I'm on vacation and no scale is accessible). If I gain, I look back and think about what I could have done differently. Most of the time, gains are expected (ie. it was christmas and I had 10 too many desserts), but sometimes they are just due to water or sodium.

Your neighbor sounds like a *****. For me, it was when my dr said I was pre-hypertensive. I have high blood pressure in my family and I knew that I was overweight. I didn't realize until that point tho how overweight I was! When I calculated my BMI and it was 40, that was disgusting! So glad I took my health into my own…

people are funny! Everyone should exercise :)

If you consume too few calories then your body will react poorly and turn calories into fat to store for later use because it goes into crisis mode (unless you are consuming so few that your body basically consumes itself, ie annorexia). Your BMR is the amount of calories you need to live (ie breathe, pump blood, etc). To…

I can do this! SW: 234.8 (true starting weight before weight watchers); 177.2 (starting weight on MFP) CW: 171.2 GW: 165 Weigh in Dates: 9/3 9/10 9/17 9/24 10/2 (I weigh in on Mondays, not Saturdays, and I don't want to weigh twice in a week...) Total weight lost:

It is important not to deprive yourself of anything, just setting up for a binge. Unless you have a medical issue to do so. One word = MODERATION.

Yogurt does not contain lactose because the bacteria in the yogurt metabolizes the lactose to lactic acid which is essentially what turns milk into yogurt.

So glad to see that working out really has an impact! I have recently renewed my work out efforts because I'm just not where I want to be even though I lost 60 lbs on weight watchers. I have been exercising a bit, but my heart wasn't really into it. I was doing yoga, I love yoga, I will do yoga forever, but yoga alone is…

you can verify the information if the product or food's already in the database. You can estimate how accurate something is by how many times its been verified. I often compare the label to what's already in the database and then verify it.

I think it is important to eat when you are hungry and not eat when you are not hungry. If you don't eat a snack, then take it off your log. If you have a morning or afternoon snack that you pass on then because you're not hungry, but then you are double hungry after dinner, you might want those snacks then and you will be…

I am a vegetarian and I eat fairly clean. You are welcome to check out my diary and I am willing to share recipes back and forth if something looks good to you!

Eat dinner as usual, forget about it, and move on. Everyone "slips up" sometimes and as long as it's not a daily event, it won't hurt your bottom line that much. Feel good about your progress made so far (37 lbs is a great start!) and tomorrow is a new day. Adding in a bit of exercise won't hurt either!

You look fantastic and your journey is inspiring, I hope to meet you there in 'normal' :)
