Totally don't take the baby out in the cold!! that is a game changer! I get that, wouldn't do it either :) I would try some DVDs that mix weight training and cardio. That way you push yourself to do what the DVD is asking for and you won't get bored. If you have the funds, maybe you could join a gym that offers babysitting…

Strength training is far more effective for weight loss than cardio alone. Strength training builds muscle, which burns more calories. I recommend some power yoga and/or getting some dumbbells and doing high rep/low weight strength training. Workout DVDs are awesome! If you have been running five miles, five days per week,…

enter your exercises to get a more accurate calorie count on MFP and fitbit. If you do things like resistance training and yoga where you are not moving particularly fast, your fitbit won't really recognize it as activity.

I've never had green tomatoes, fried or otherwise. I have a ton of green tomatoes on the vine right now, maybe I should try ;) I would definitely try to mimic fried green tomatoes in the oven. coat in flour, then dip in some milk or egg wash, then coat in a mixture of breadcrumbs and cornmeal. Then I'd bake at 400-425…

Take a class or do workout DVDs. But you shouldn't really be focusing your training on cardio, and when you do cardio, you should do High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) for only about 20 - 30 minutes. You'll burn mad calories. Make sure you get your strength training in for 3 days per week at least 30 minutes. This…

thumbs up

I don't think it's cheating, but I do think that it's far less safe and does not guarantee weight loss.

you are not helpful. I agree with all the previous posts except for the above quoted. I am vegetarian and eat a well balanced diet including lots of protein and veg. Try TVP, that is high in protein and vegan. A multi is a must.

I would def say at least lightly active being a stay at home mom. try getting an activity tracker such as fitbit to test it out.

sweet, thanks for sharing

YES! I do not like the gym, but I love love love love love Jillian Michaels. I've lost 22 lbs and loads and loads of inches working out at home with Jillian, doing yoga or pilates with the ladies on my lunch break in a conference room at work, and walking/jogging with the pup. Haven't stepped foot in a gym in years and I…

First of all, everything in moderation. Coke, chips, milky ways, etc are ok EVERY NOW AND THEN. You just shouldn't live on them. I highly recommend Jillian Michael's Master your Metabolism. It's an interesting read and explains clearly why processed foods are "bad". Hope that helps.

Hands down - establishing my workout regimen. I lost almost 60 pounds before really committing to fitness, but that took 1 1/2 years to get off. This last 30ish pounds have flown off in less than 6 months and I'm starting to see that I can look good naked, plus I feel sooooo much better overall and haven't been sick (knock…

Jillian Michaels is super awesome, highly recommend. Some others I really enjoy are Body by Bethenny and Skinnygirl Workout (both yoga) and Kristen McGee Weight Loss Pilates. I also like Tracey Mallett. Have fun!!

I've been doing essentially the same thing. I got a fitbit a couple of weeks ago and I use that to calculate my TDEE, which is great because it does vary day to day, so I can adjust my cal intake based on that day's cal burn. For the most part, I average a burn of 2700 - 2800 cal per day and I eat ~500 cal less than my…

I also love BBT! But my favorite part is probably how my husband completely geeks out to it and kind of becomes part of the sitcom :)

Def. this! Log your food for a few months win maintenance so that you get a good idea of what the amount of food you should be eating looks like. Hopefully, over time, you'll be able to stop logging, but there is no shame in food journaling!

You are correct, the difference is that the one tracks sleep and stairs. I wear it to bed because I have trouble sleeping and I like to track my sleep efficiency (which honestly, is quite depressing). I really like that feature. The stairs and sleep tracking is 100% what led me pay the extra $40 for the fitbit one. I…

I feel sluggish when I don't get some exercise in mid-day. Try a quick walk or stretching. I bet you'll feel a lot better!

All Jillian Michaels!!! I love yoga and I've found Body by Bethanny and Skinnygirl workouts to be very approachable and fun.

Because sugar from fruit comes with a lot of good things too like fiber, vitamins, and minerals. The fiber will help keep you full and the vitamins and minerals are essential for health. Sugar from cakes, candy, etc is completely empty and will only serve to spike your blood sugar. That being said, everything in…

I'm embarrassed also, not so much about people I know, but those I don't. I want to join a gym to start lifting, BUT I don't want to pay for it and I'm nervous about trying something new in front of people. For this reason I love working out at home. I never used to walk or jog around my neighborhood, but now that we have…

I'm with you here! Unfortunately, my family seems to want materialistic things and can't understand that I just want to spend time with them and not stress over gifts and have them stress (cuz they do!).

you need to eat at least your basal metabolic rate, which is the minimum number of calories your body needs to perform everyday functions (ie. breathing, pumping blood). I assume this is the 1840 calorie number you are quoting. By eating under that amount, your body is storing all the food you eat into fat because it…

as soon as they don't fit any more and I buy replacements, the fat ones are out of the closet!! Nothing to fall back on, don't want to have to spend more $$$ on new fat clothes is my motivation.... or one of them.
