Went through this also, started lifting heavy at the beginning of the year, increased my calories and lowered my fat macro like all the calculators recommended, but wasn't seeing any progress, in fact my BF% kept going up. So I lowered my calories from 2,000 to 1,600, increased fat macro and didn't worry if I went over on…

I bought a new car a few months ago, I worked out, coordinated a pet adoption event, bought a new car, then went to the grocery store. I don't see the problem.

I loooooove hummus. My favorite is the Chicken Hummus Power Bowl. Its originally from Panera, but I've recreated it at home with spinach, cucumber, red onion, tomato and of course hummus and a grilled chicken breast. MMMMMMM. Fills me up and is less than 300 calories, depending on how much hummus and chicken you use. I…

I don't normally workout at a gym, but a couple of weeks ago I decided to do a trial PT offer at a local high end gym and actually saw the guy the OP describes, only the beard was expertly coiffed. Decided working out from home is best.

It's not impossible to lose weight during menopause, it may take longer and you have to be more diligent, but it can be done. I've been having symptoms since my early thirties, but they became more serious a couple of years ago about the time I started my weight loss process, it took about 18 months but I lost 100lbs. It's…

It's weird, you would think people would want to hear that you don't have to go on a strict diet and/or buy expensive pills, that all you pretty much have to do is "eat less, move more". I do sometimes throw in "lift heavy" or "being more mindful of what I eat", but its always the same, blank look.

I tend to follow the Michael Pollan philosophy: "Eat real food, not too much, mostly plants". I think you need to do what's best for you, for me, avoiding most processed foods is what's best for me. I'm not starving or lacking in variation. It does take planning, I try to cook one or two meals over the weekend, portion and…

I always take my birthday off, but for the big 4-0, had dinner with lots of wine with friends.

If you're starting out, do 30 Day Shred, there is weight training, not heavy, but its a start if you're a beginner. If you want to do a Shaun T program, do Focus T25, only 25 minutes and its progressive. I consider myself a fairly fit person, did FT25, Turbo Fire, lift heavy, but when I tried an Insanity class, I thought I…

Sure, if you're doing it while walking on the treadmill.

You say you want to work out, but do you? I was almost 30lbs heavier than you when I started. Also with a bad knee, couldn't do any jumping exercises or a full squat, but I did what I could. Finally had knee surgery, by that time had lost close to 40lbs. Though it took awhile, I can now do ATG on the squat.

"muscle weighs more than fat", spoken by someone who doesn't even lift.

helllzzzz to the noooooooo!!!!!! WTF is wrong with you?

Completely agree, it is worth it to pay for a good pair of shoes, but once you find the right pair you can always shop around for cheaper price. I paid $100 to be fitted for the right shoe, but have been able to find the same shoes at the outlet store or online for much less. Same with running bras.

Mine was due to a hiatal hernial, had to take a prescription medicine every day for years, if I knew I would be drinking alcohol I would have to double up otherwise I would become physically ill. Once I lost all the weight, I get a little heartburn when I drink alcohol, but the acid reflux is pretty much gone. If you don't…

Most likely a CYA situation. I had outpatient knee surgery a couple of years ago under a general, I was around 236lbs, so definitely a high BMI, but before they would do the surgery I had to have a bunch of blood tests to make sure I was healthy enough for the surgery. Maybe this is their way of skipping the blood test by…

Clothes? I thought you were going to say something like, being hit on by guys half your age. Oh...wait...that's me. Never mind.

My dog knows "go pee" also, though, I usually only have to use it when its raining. She hates the rain.

Too simple...it will never work.

You get pizza ads?? I keep getting Cold Stone Creamery ads reminding me that Father's day is around the corner.

Another recommendation to go to a specialized running store. Most will allow you to return the shoes if they don't work out. Spend the money for a good pair with a proper fit.

Please make sure to find naturally sourced fish oil and not from farmed fish. I use the Kirkland brand from Costco...no fish burps. My ortho doc and PT recommend fish oil over glucosimine for joint health.

um, pretty sure that's pee

I have a friend that spent $300 a month on Nutrisystem, lost a bunch of weight, but when she stopped, she gained all the weight back. All of that money and she never learned about proper nutrition. It is only worth the money if you can keep it up for the rest of your life or if you learn about proper nutrition. Otherwise,…

When you're so sweaty, you're peeling off your workout clothes You're lying on the floor in a pool of sweat and can't muster up the energy to push the dog away while she's licking your face You have to start keeping air freshener in your workout room (which also doubles as your office), cause it gets pretty rank in there.

Why do some people feel they have the right to get up all in your business? I get this on all sides, people feel they need to justify what they eat in front of me (I don't give a rat's *kitten*), if I turn down something "bad", I get, "but you're so skinny, you can eat anything" or if I indulge, I get, "hmmmm, are you…

Leave puddles of sweat through the house. Still sweating AFTER you take a shower. Too freakin' tired to eat.
