You'll have a great time!

Thanks so much! Not sure what's next. Maybe a 10K, but probably a couple of more 5K's first. I first started running in mid-January. I did the Couch to 5K training program.

Ran my first 5K this morning (Saturday)! Here's the thread I created with pics: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/246339-nsv-first-5k

There is a guy I see pretty regularly at my gym that uses the treadmill at full incline and holds himself on by the rails the whole time. He's easy to spot--I mean, he's a tall guy anyway, but he'll be the one 3 feet up in the air.

I no. egsacklee wat u mean.

The sodium will make you retain water. Give it another day or two and step on the scales again. If weekends are typically bad, maybe move your weigh-in day to Wednesday.

Forgot to post Monday. Just barely made it! 4/2: SW - 223.6 lbs Week 1 - 220.6 lbs Week 2 - 220.4 lbs Week 3 - 216.8 lbs Week 4 - 213.2 lbs Total lost - 10.4 lbs

Ran my first outdoor run today. 3.25 miles in 33 minutes! Faster than what I do on a treadmill--averaged 6 mph whereas I run at 5 mph on the treadmill. I found it hard to slow down when running outside, and I started out way too fast. As such, I'm very sore now, but glad I was able to do it. Never felt real on the…

I usually tell myself something along the lines of "You didn't do all this just to come up short!" or, borrowing from a podcast I listened to when I was doing C25K, "You can do it, PUSH!" I may have to adopt the "finish strong" mantra.

Same boat here. Blue Diamond makes 100 calorie almond packs as well.
-
This! I use unsweetend almond milk and stevia. I was really surprised how creamy it is. Unsweetened almond milk is 40 calories a cup, so only 2 1/2 calories a tablespoon.
-
Lol, make that 3 times--just got another!
-
Welcome! Hope you find it to be as useful a tool as many of us have. I set mini-goals for myself as well, and gave myself plenty of time to hit them.
-
I was told TWICE today that I look younger now that I've lost some weight.
-
Nothing wrong with that! Took me 12 weeks to complete, and another 2 before I was running for the full 5K distance.

I don't really see the difference.

MFP gives you a caloric deficit. By not increasing your intake when you burn off extra calories, you further that deficit. Sounds find and dandy, except too much of a deficit has the opposite effect than what you want--your body starts conserving as much fat as possible. Essentially, your body is convinced that there is a…

The point of losing weight is to be healthy and look good. You do that in one of two ways, or a combination of the two: eat less, burn calories. MFP builds in a deficit for you, so this program is designed to have you eat back your exercise calories. As such, you could do no exercise whatsoever and lose weight following…

I may be the only person to try in that doesn't like it. I can really only get it mixed in two manners: either too weak or too sweet. There seems to be no middle ground, and I have tried two different flavors. I'll stick to the pre-measured Crystal Light packets.
-
"Depends on the person" translates to "whether or not I find them attractive myself," no? I mean, that is really what it comes down to isn't it? You do not mind a compliment from someone else that you yourself find "hot" but a compliment from someone less desirable gives off 'creepy' vibes. It is pretty much a minefield…

Bacon burgers are part of a "very healthy eating regime?"

I have a Polar RS300x with footpod. It has some nice features, isn't too big, and is easy to use while running. Keeps track of HR, distance, pace, lap time and zone. Will show calories burned after workout, not during. This HRM, unlike some of the lower priced ones, allows you to input your VO2max if you know it, or has a…

I can understand this. I volunteer to work at my lodge fish fry periodically, and they pay us in food. Did I mention our fish is fried in lard? I have found I just have to prepare for such things. I KNOW I'm going to eat some fish (too good not to) but I've learned to pass on the fries. I also will often end the day before…

When I started this, I told myself that I was going to put it all out there. If is easy to give up if only you will notice. So, I started a blog (offsite, before I found MFP) and started out by talking about my situation and why it needed to change. I shared the link with my friends and posted on Facebook. For better or…

On a side note, that should really read "MOST HRMs don't account for this." My HRM allows imput of VO2Max, so it does a very good job of adapting for my level of fitness. It also has a built in test for estimating VO2Max, which I have read elsewhere is decently accurate. Essentially, the more info your HRM can accept, the…

Or? I don't understand....

Awesome! I had a similar situation the other day, though at a theater rather than an airplane. In a venue I had been to before, I caught myself just as I was leaning over to tell my wife that "these seats farther back are a lot bigger than the ones we had last time" and instead chuckled to myself. Last time was about a…

Never heard anything like that. I do not think your food intake would much matter. Lack of sleep does affect you, but it is probably nearly impossible to determine on a meaningful level to what extent. As for the exercise, go for it, but take it easy. Your heart rate will likely be higher than average due to the lack of…

I use RunKeeper to keep a log of my runs. For the actually timing of intervals, I downloaded and listened to music podcasts (free) from http://runningintoshape.com Us guys are used to being wrong. Don't let this be an exception!
