I don't want to discourage you, but chances are he is going to lose faster than you. Men usually do. It's not really fair to yourself to make a pound for pound bet with a man. Maybe you could do a percent of body weight bet like they do on Biggest Loser .. tends to level the playing field a bit.

Whole wheat toast is more filling than an english muffin I have found. If you can fight through the "hunger pain" for a few days, your body will adjust. It's probably psychological anyway ... you are full, just not satisfied. Maybe drink a glass of skim milk?
