  • Runner's Stitch is very common when just starting to run - has to do with bloodflow to the diaphram and your breathing... try to coordinate breathing with your foot strikes - and also slowing pace may help.
  • Only sharing this as I wish someone would have suggested it to me along the way. I wasted 6 long frustrating weeks waiting for something to change - upped excerise, etc. Not saying other things won't work - just offering you another possibility. Good Luck!
  • Just went through the same thing... stalled for 6 weeks. Did some research on leptin (women are especially sensitive) and found I was probably eating too little (I do quite a bit of cardio) article suggested eating at maintenance (increase good starchy carbs not fat/protein) for 1 - 3 days every ten days or so. I did that…
  • Hang in there! It took three looooong weeks for me to see any change on the scale. However - I lost 3 pounds the fourth week. It's frustrating but your body will catch up !

  • You are so right about that - muscle looks infinitely better than fat :) and...losing muscle is a self-defeating prophecy - you are doomed to re-gain. I don't think people realize how muscle wasting cardio can be when over done.
  • I love the strategy you've just outlined. I'm down to the last 11 pounds and want to be sure that its lost in body fat. Up to this point I've done high and low Intensity cardio as well as lifting. I've managed to gain just about a pound in muscle and lost 20 in fat. I've managed through the dreaded plateau and now think I…
  • It's a little hormone called leptin - check out bodycomposition .com- part 6 has the answer! Good Luck!
  • I believe you!!! I just broke a 6 week plateau by having two high calorie days last week... I logged a 2.8 loss (6 weeks/1/2 lb per week which is my goal). 1% reduction in body fat :) - going to do this every 7 - 10 days :)
  • I am !!!! Just joined a week ago - was on a 6 week plateau and desperate for reasons why :) managed to break it this week but need encouragement as well ! I'll send you a friend request :)
  • Just say to yourself - it won't taste as good as watching the scale go down feels (and although temporary- the sugar will spike your insulin and stall your progress) So...........Hang in there ! Good Luck
  • I use Gorton's Grilled Tilapia (season it up with some Tony's or other spices) , brocolli slaw (ishreaded really fine), Hidden Valley Chipotle Ranch dressing with white corn tortillia (only one). They are delicious and only about 125 calories each ! One piece of fish will make two tacos and - can be microwaved in five…
  • It's likely water weight - when we eat starchy carbs our bodies store glycogen and water in muscles, etc. ... just remember it takes 3500 calories to gain a pound of fat... so you know it's not fat :) Hope this helps ...
  • Thanks, great thread - I have NOT been eating my exercise calories back - this could be the problem - putting me below BMR ???. Thankfully, I haven't lost any lean body mass (if my scale is right) and I do strength train a couple of times a week. Thanks for the link... adding more calories today!
  • Hi, just signed up and saw your post about going back to maintenance calories. I am 15 pounds away from my goal and plateaued 6 weeks ago and the scale has not moved (bodyfat % not changing). Tried everything but going back to maintenance... can you tell me how long you after you added calories that you began losing again…
