• Mainly because of the convenience of MFP in scanning new foods, import recipes, and the actual meal entry. I'm talking where Samsung Health is better is in the nutrient breakdown, nutrient goals etc. MFP wins on the actual data entry.
• I'm trying to get the meal data over to Samsung Health, but so far, the only thing that comes over is exercise data, hours later. No steps, no meals, and Samsung Health has so much better tracking than MFP.
• Odd, it works fine apparently on my iPhone, but absolutely refuses to acknowledge the Samsung. Going on for a month? Isn't that enough time to actually address the issue? Or at least an update?
• Does anyone from MFP actually read these forums ,or is this simply a place where the users can whine about the shortcomings of the app? Has anyone got an update on the "progress" toward fixing this? Having an IT background, it seems to me that any 1st year HS student could have completely rebuilt this system in the month…
• I am here, and yes, I do have the "Member" status for a few more days. As noted very plainly above, I took up the 30 day FREE trial of the upgraded membership, and immediately cancelled it once I found that it simply was a worthless upgrade for me. I continue to "enjoy" the "benefits", which apparently include the coveted…
• It's gone downhill fast since it was taken over by UnderArmor. I guess that's what happens with "corporate sponsorship"... *sigh*
•
It would appear you *are* paying for it! People using the free version have the word ‘member’ after their screen name in the forums. You do not, which suggests you’ve paid for the premium version 🤷‍♀️
Nope, I did the 30 day free trial, then immediately cancelled it, as I wanted to see if MFP would break…
• HA! You should try moving stuff over when you upgrade a phone!!! I've been trying for 3 days to get the info from MFP over to Samsung health, and apparently, this is a form of technology that is way past the capabilities of MFP's IT "guru's". If this isn't fixed pretty soon it's Lose It!, recipe import or not! Pretty old,…
• Wow, looks like almost everyone has about the same thing to say, but I'd like to give you my 2c worth also. I started going to a gym at around 265, and I'm 5-7". Needless to say, I considered myself an exact replica of the Michelin man, but when I got to the gym, there were many who would come up to me, just regular gym…
• Perhaps I was using the term HIIT a little too loosely, I know when I did the 30-30 for 5 "reps", I couldn't talk, could barely breathe, etc, but after about 10 minutes, I went and did a light weights workout. The deal is that I've been doing treadmills, ellipticals, etc for a while, and still don't see any improvement in…
• Okay, thanks for all of the replies! I have an "old people" (silver sneakers) class on Monday, and Silver Sneakers Yoga on Wednesday, so I think I'll probably do the intervals on Tuesday, or maybe Friday, then put a little weight training in there somewhere. I really need to address the VO2 Max issue.. (grin) Good advice,…
• There is an issue with those using the newest (6.*) version of Android. Seems "they" (Google) have tweaked the security interface, so that unless you have location services on in your phone, nothing will sync over Bluetooth. This is all over other forums, Garmin, Suunto, etc, so that may be a problem if someone is trying…
• Don't know if anyone knows this one, but it used to be my "mantra" in more "adventuresome" days.. Anone else remember THIS one? Fits even today... <img src="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3W7-ngmO_p8>
• Jumpergirl3, I have a Fitbit charge HR, and have the same problem. Needs a recharge every other day. I turned everything off per Tech Support, (which, actually kind of defeats the attractiveness of the unit!), and still Monday Charge, and Wed morning "Your fitbit charge is low" appears. I whined to Fitbit, they immediately…
• I noticed that too, for some reason, the UP app thinks that the packaged Apple Slices (70 calories, with the lo-fat carmel) is a 2.7 on the healthy scale. Sorry, you can't convince me of that. But, I'm sure that if they (UP) are aware of that, then they'll address it in an update. I just got the UP3, replacing my Fitbit…
• I hear you about the Garmin! I've owned the 910, Edge 700, 800, and 850? and finally settled on the Polar V650 for a bike computer. However, we're not discussing that. I have an M800, and like it quite a bit. However, the data that comes from it isn't all that great. I also have had the Ambit 2, (not the S, the "full"…
• The Newton connects to the HRM strap, along with the GSC-10 on the bike. It also connects to the Suunto, a great thing about the Ambit 2, no longer are the Suunto devices limited to their own connection protocol, the Ambit 2 uses ANT, just like the Garmin, etc. I was thinking about it, and the Newton simply calculates the…
• I have an iBike Newton+, and really like it. I understand the science behind it, and it's way less expensive than any of the direct force power meters.
• Thanks to those who answered, it makes sense, that because of the sustained higher rate, that the demand isn't as great, but what threw me off was the length of time for my body to get used to the new "demand".. In answer as to how I'm getting my heartrate, I use a Suunto Ambit 2, with a chest strap. I've found it pretty…
• First off, congratulations! I know the feeling, I went from 307 to 189 in about the same time, and now am hitting the gym trying to "firm up" the loose/extra skin. I too still have a ways to go, but as I've said, "I'm not there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday!".. (I think I need a T-shirt that says that) Good luck…
• You got that right! That's why I've gone to the expense for all of the toys, I love the data, and love to watch it vary, usually indicating that I'm improving, at least a little. But, having retired from the computer industry, I'm simply a data geek, and will always be. Thanks for the link, I think I'll cruise on over…
• First, I want to thank all for the input, and I think I'm going to continue using the calorie count from Firstbeat Athlete, it seems more realistic, at least for the weight training, days. The days when I can ride my bike, I'll use the joules calculation from the iBike power meter, and I honestly believe that one is…
• Gotta chime in here. I too, tried the "home workout" routine, but on a limited budget. I wound up with a set of barbels, a few weights, and a rather small bench. I did what I could, with a bench that had a 50Lb maximum. Prior to that, I used a treadmill, and stationary bike. I saw pretty limited results, to say the least.…
• Okay, y'all have convinced me, I am going to try to hit 1500-2000 calories a day, and have decided to add a protein product (Whey) to add protein to my intake. I have been "missing" the protein mark for a while, and after discussing it with a nutritionist at the gym, they explained that after and during exercise, the body…
• I guess I can weigh in here, and give my personal experiences. I have had a Polar FT7, FT60, and an FT80, and am now using a Suunto T6D. I've found that using all of these, gives fairly consistent readings with the HRM. However, I've also started downloading the information from the Suunto into another program, Firstbeat…
• Most heart rate monitors are notoriously inaccurate. It's best to just use them as a guideline, I take the lowest number for my readings, that way I know I'm doing best, and if I'm under, that's a good thing. One thing, I have recently went to a Suunto T6D, which is very accurate, as it measures the actual time between…
• I have a Withings scale that computes body fat, along with BMI, but have recently purchased a caliper to try to do this myself with the "3 Measurement Method". I decided to give this a try since I've read that the calculation using the bioimpendence method depends on your body water content, and that your muscles retain…
