  • I think they do but more to tone the stomach muscles then your cardio is what burns the fat off your stomach - have you tried holding a dumbell or weighted ball in your hands while doing crunchs you will feel it more then. at least i do
  • i guess i depends on what you want overall - i personally do cardio then strength training then cardio when i work out i just do muscles on different days. I feel that strength training is important because you want to tone the muscle underneath as you lose fat.
  • i love mops - i try to pick from the healthier meals at the potluck or smaller servings of whats availiable - i usually try to leave some wiggle room that evening just in case - mostly becasue someone always makes a really good dessert and i want to be able to have some with out feeling guilty over going over my calories.…
  • you could grill it i use alittle coconut oil to grill it in instead of butter - or shake and bake it or boil it if you are putting it in somthing

  • have you measured yourself - i take measurement each month and noticed a bigger difference there then in my weight - plus if pp see you everyday they may not notice as quickly as someone who sees you sparadicly (sp?).
  • welcome - i have found this a great place to keep myself acountable and get info and help when needed.
  • well i have been using a treadmill - since it is way too cold and slick ot run outside here and i chart the average speed that i did for the entire workout. I started with week 2 this week -2 days down. (its easy to adjust the speed less amount of times on a treadmill)
  • yes my fil always brings over candy and snack cakes - it drives me crazy i usually end up taking them to church and handing them out as treats to the kids
  • i use steviea pwdr or sun crystals (mostly cause i can't take the packets with me) and evaperated cane juice to sweet most items - we do still use white suger to sweeten our tea but i only use 1 cup per gallon so it isn't as bad as it used to be.

  • well my dd just turned 3 so i have had mine for about 3 years - i still cramp (badly) around that time of the month and have periods that range from light spotting to full out but they only usually last about 2-3 days. if you start having like can't get up off the floor or move cramping -or stapping pain and or bright red…
  • Sounds like great motivation which is what i need I'm Lauren my current weight is 206 and i really don't like to excersise but prefer the eliptical and weight training along with swimming. I work out with my dh so he keeps me going to the gym even when i don't want to. My fav food is pasta any covered with sauce. I am…
  • thanks we are definitally looking into it for the workout - the fact that it comes with stuff from Jillian is just a plus i don't care either way. plus since it is shorter it will fit in our house better - neither of us plan on running on it - i am wanting to keep or membership to the Y and since i want to try the C25k i…
  • you can find some info here http://www.c25k.com/ I am going to start next week when we get back in the gym.
  • well first congrats on taking the first step - definitally charting all of your calories - if it hits your lips write (log) it. also I was a size 18 when i started and now can wear a 14-16 depending on the brand. You can do it is just takes effort. As far as picking food - when we have had food in for employees at work i…
  • this program looks good - i think i will try it out this next week in the gym - so can you program a treadmill to change diffrent speeds or just inclines?
  • mostly inactivity but also 3 pregnancies _ though i did lose alot btwn the 2nd and 3rd then also i was on meds for my migranes and they really packed on the pounds now trying to lose.
  • i measure around the beginning of the month and i measure my hips, waist, top thigh, upper arm and neck. I do suggest not measuring during that time of the month in case of bloating but find a time that is right for you - ialso try to measure in the am.
  • yes i refuse to by much clothing till i lose weight - i did get some t-shirts at the Gap on Clearance (some were only like $2.00 cause litterally had no shirts that fit but i bought them snug so they would fit nice after i lose some more inches.
  • first of all congrats on taking the first step and to answer you question i tend to try to drink a large glass of water (or flavered club soda if i feel a need for somthing bubbly) to make sure i am really hungry and not just bored and wanting to snack i also try to eat at the table - it forces me to prepare the food then…

  • when i hit a plateau a few weeks ago i was talking with a Doc who also did some bodybuilding and she said that i should change my whole workout - so i did - i started alternating btwn the eliptical and treadmill each day that i am at the Y and then instead of doing the same weight training (i use free weights) that i was…
  • i try to pick out the healthier items to eat plus items that i wouldn't have during the year - also when i make my plate i spread out the food so it doesn't touch - that way less food is on the plate but it still looks full - if that makes sense
  • well congrats on what you have lost so far. as far as hitting a plateau the trainer i spoke with said to change the workout up that your body will get used to what you are doing so for me instead of walking just on a treadmill each day I alternate btwn the eliptical and the treadmill (on at least a 3.5 incline for most of…
  • Here is a book a friend of mine (also a licenced nutritionist) suggested i read - Eat Fat Lose Fat by Dr Mary Enig it discussed the need to have some fat in the diet. I have lost weight abotu 20 pounds total using this diet. Including the coconut oil in the shakes - I also work out 4-5 times a week…
  • Quaker Life Cereal with some milk and Water to drink now off to the YMCA to workout
  • welcome - so sorry for the loss of your father. As far as commitment and motivation i find it helpful to have some to keep accountable with - even if you arn't able to workout at the same time -you can always compare workouts and keep eachother accountable to how many times a week you workout and what you eat in your diet.…
  • well congratulations on the little one - alot of women show sooner with the 2nd or 3rd etc. Don't let that defeat you - you can still stay healthy while pregnant and exercise (with your OBGYN's OK) do things such as walking stretching , pregnancy yoga etc.
  • oh its crazy i had my dh Hide the Halloween candy that our kids brought home and they still have another night to go trick or treating and a Halloween parade- guess he'll be hiding that candy too
  • i suggest like others to eat after exercising - i personally get nauseas if i eat before hand - though if you are very hungry maybe a small snack shortly before you get to the gym would help
