Currently in Northwest Indiana, but I lived and/or worked in lots of the other "Chicagoland" places listed in this thread at one time or another! That commute from Gurnee to Chicago is no fun! How do you even have time for fitness?!

5'5"... My goal is 135.

I didn't quite make it this month! I started taking a Zumba class, so I haven't been running as much. Hopefully some nicer weather will come my way and I will get back out there! Great job, everyone!

Shoes do make a big difference! I had the same problem when I started, but as I ran more they went away. In the meantime, the best advice anyone gave me for shin splints was to spell out the alphabet with your toes while you are lying down. Sounds goofy, but it is a great way to stretch those sore muscles! Hang in there!…

Nice work!

Not such a good mileage week! Hoping to get back at the running this week!

Feel free to add me! I feel like I spend more time here than facebook! I agree with you that it is so much easier to stay motivated when you have MFP friends who are online a lot.

I have been struggling with some of these same issues. Nice to know I'm not the only one! After completing C25K, I was up to running at least 5K (but usually more) with no walk breaks. I wanted to improve my speed and distance, but I felt like I was getting in a rut. Same path, same distance, same time. So I started B210K…

Looks delicious! I will definitely try it!

Halfway there!

Shameless is my #1... I miss my Sunday nights with the Gallaghers already, but not so much a guilty pleasure! My TV guilty pleasures- Intervention the occasional Lifetime movie So You Think You Can Dance My Name is Earl

I can't eat ice cream without diet pepsi I can't eat peanut butter without milk

I didn't read through all the posts, so I'm not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but if you go to the Women's Health website, there is also a video that demonstrates each of these.

I recently opened up my food diary because I thought that public shaming would be good for me. Not so much! I just changed my settings tonight. I realized that I don't like the scrutiny! I've never paid attention to anyone else's food diary so I haven't noticed anything unusual.

I don't usually log zero calorie beverages, like diet pop or green tea. I also don't log condiments or pickles unless the container is right in front of me to scan. I do always log my coffee because the creamer that I use has quite a few calories. I don't think it is cheating... it is just a time saver. I know that most…

I'm definitely interested! I will also spread the word to some of my other friends on MFP. This competition ends on the day of my 20 year high school reunion! Sounds like perfect timing to me!

Rat Race. It is just so ridiculous!

Oh, gosh, if I had to drive somewhere, I'd probably never do it! I'm fortunate enough to live about a third of a mile from some great bike paths along a lake/ beach. When I get bored, I go in a different direction. I do occasionally meet a friend at a park that is about 20 minutes away.

I'm currently at the same height and weight as you... and also working on that last ten pounds! The scale is rarely moving for me! I have my MFP goals set to lose 1 pound a week. My calories are set at 1460. I feel like that is enough for me, but I still go over sometimes! Good luck with those last ten! I wanted to get…

I'm going to try to hit 100 miles again this month. My overall goal is to do something every day and stay under my calorie goals so that I can reach my goal weight by the first week of June. (The weight loss process has been very slow for me, so I'm not sure if this is realistic!)

I've been wondering the same thing! I REALLY need to get a heart rate monitor!
-
I agree! I also couldn't run for more than a couple minutes non-stop in the summer. The steady build-up of minutes in C25K really worked for me! I had a hard time with breathing too. I slowed myself down and counted my breaths and it got easier. I inhale for a count of 4, then exhale for 4. For the first couple months that…

Yay! I FINALLY made it! I look forward to updating my ticker every week. Nice to see improvement! Let's do it again in April!
-
I do the same! When I did the C25K, I told myself that I would never stop to walk during the run times. Some days I was in such a rut, but I just kept reminding myself of my goal. A lot of times getting started is the hardest part.

Wow! Only 3 months? AWESOME progress! Keep up the good work!

Meeeee tooooo! I'm not so much shy about it as I am uncomfortable. I've never been very athletic and I was always THAT girl who was always the last one picked for the team! That has caused me to really be a loner when it comes to working out. I still have the mindset that I am not doing something right and feel very…

I had the same problem today on just my left foot. This is my first time wearing a new pair of New Balance (the only brand I wear). I was fitted for the shoes and they feel great. I'm hoping that this will go away soon! My foot stayed numb for my entire run (about 4.5 miles) and it took about 10 minutes of walking for my…

Sounds like shin splints. I got them when I first started working out. They went away for me once I got into a regular routine. People gave me a couple tips that really helped me stretch the muscles: 1. When you are sitting in a chair, tap your toes. 2. When you are lying down, spell the alphabet with your toes. Hope you…
