I'm starting the Whole 30 on Monday. Is anyone else out there still following this plan? I'd love some mfp support!

I have been gluten free for 8 months now. To my knowledge, I do not have Celiac, but like many of you, I feel much better since I changed my diet. I don't typically eat any substitutes. I reached my goal weight a few months before going GF. I am now just a couple pounds below that. A lot of people mistakenly think I did it…

Thanks again for the advice! I went with the 210 and I love it! My favorite feature is the Garmin Connect... I love setting goals and analyzing my data. The Garmin itself is very user friendly. I have used it for three races, and it has helped me so much with staying at my goal pace, compared to using a phone app where I…

I had the same issue right before (and after) my first 15K race last November. I foam rolled and rested a lot the week before the race, and miraculously I was fine on race day. The pain came back near the end of the month though when I did a 6 mile race a few weeks later. I had trouble even walking without pain after that.…

Did you follow the HH plan exactly? I've had a few experienced runners tell me that I should add more mileage on Tuesday- Thursday runs. Also, what type of cross training did you do? Thanks!
-
Congrats! I'll be doing my first (Chicago Marathon) in mid-October. My training starts the first week of June. I'm also using the Hal Higdon plan. I'm sure we can help each other out along the way!

Thanks for your suggestions! I've been leaning toward the 210. The DC Rainmaker review was very in-depth! Thanks for sharing, ATT!

Hi! I am also doing my first marathon in October and following the Hal Higdon plan. I'm running the marathon with a charity group, so I will do the weekend long runs with the group and the rest on my own. Feel free to add me! The more support, the better!

Unfortunately, no running for me Sunday through today. I fell short of my goal again. My hip has been bothering me a bit since my half practice run on Saturday, so I have been doing some cross training this week. I'm registered for the Chicago Marathon. These next couple months, my goal will be getting my half time down to…

I'm in! Luckily, a friend did the registration for me since I was working, so I avoided all the headaches!

As a former pack-a-day smoker, breathing was the big struggle for me when I began running about a year and a half ago. I used couch to 5k. I did not listen to music at all until I completed the program. I focused on every breath. I would consciously count my breaths (inhale 1-2-3-4 and exhale 5-6-7-8). I have a tendency to…

Hello! If it is not too late, I'd like to check in for February with a goal of 100 miles. I have a half on March 16 that I'm training for at the moment. I took a much needed break last week so I was far off my goal . I need to be a little ambitious now! Total for this week= 15 Friday 2/1= 3.25 Sat 2/2= 4.14 Sun 2/3= 7.52

Hi! Sorry I didn't post sooner! I know this may be too late. Rough week! Total 1/28- 1/31= 3.05 Tues 1/29= 3.05
-
Sorry, I also could not find the thread for this week, ending 1/27. Mileage total for week= 13 Wed 3 miles Thurs 1 mile Saturday 9 miles
-
Feel free to add me! I have a few coming up- March 16, April 14, and May 4.
-
This week's total= 21 miles Wednesday 4 Thursday 3 Saturday 5.5 Sunday 8.5

I love this post! As one of "those girls", I can totally relate to it, but you put it into words much better than I could! I can't wait to hear about your next race!

Total miles for the week= 19.3 Monday 1/7= 3.1 Wednesday 1/9= 3.1 Saturday 1/12= 13.1 (My first half marathon! 52 degrees in Chicago in January and beat the goal I set for myself! Finished in 1:56:35.) Month to date= 35.8 miles I probably won't get too many miles in this week, so I think my monthly goal was too ambitious!

I got a breadmaker for Christmas. I'm not exactly known for my culinary talents, so I used a Bob's Red Mill mix for my first one. It was dangerously delicious! I have lost weight since going GF, but I'm sure I'll gain it all back if I keep baking that bread!

Anyone else doing the Chicago Polar Dash this Saturday? (Not quite "Polar" with a forecast of 57 degrees...)
-
Thanks for the advice! I always have this issue! I am always surprised by how much faster I go on race day and have to tell myself to slow down! With this distance, I think I'll run out of steam if I do that, so I'll be talking to myself a lot!! I have a feeling that this will become my favorite distance too! I love the…

The one in April is called the Crossroads Marathon. It is in Lowell, Indiana. Not so lucky that you can't do the Lucky! : ( Do you have any other races planned for March?
-
Thanks! That sounds very doable and should keep me in shape for it! I know it was a little controversial to run 13.1 in a practice run twice in the past two weeks. I felt good though and I just felt that I had to prove that I could do it! I don't think I will need to do that in preparation for March though. I keep messing…

Thanks for the advice! I will probably stick with about 25 miles a week then. By the time I get home from work on weekdays, it is just about dark outside, so I'll stick with classes and just short 3-4 miles runs during the week. I'll get my long run in on Sundays. As for the "speed work", I usually do tempo runs. When I…

Total this week= 15.5 Wednesday 1/2 = 13.1 (practice run for next week's race) Saturday 1/5= 2.4

I have my first half on January 12. I have two others planned... March 16 and April 14. I'm contemplating the Chicago Marathon in October, but it will depend on how these races go! I'm looking into joining a local running club's training program for the April one. I've been following the Hal Higdon plan for my first. Feel…

I have been gluten free since September 30, and I feel so much better! My resolution is cook more, so I'd love to share food ideas! Feel free to add me as a friend! I log in daily and my food diary is available.
