Thanks for posting this! Great advice, everyone! I am in the same boat, doing the same race on the 12th. I let my stubborn streak get the best of me and did another practice run yesterday. The first time I tried that distance for the first time, the last two miles I just kept thinking, "I've NEVER run this far before!". I…

Feel free to add me to your friend list! I have been a faithful logger for over a year now, and I went gluten free on September 30. I'm still figuring things out and I have gotten a lot of support and advice from people here in the Gluten Free group.

Results: 1:42:59 (10:17 mm pace) I was pretty happy with my pace until the last couple miles. The bearable drizzle turned into heavy rain and wind. I'm feeling pretty confident about doing my first half in January though! Thanks for the motivation! HH

21 miles for me this week... Sunday 3.1 Tuesday 5 Wednesday 3 Saturday 10 Thanks! HH

I'm going to head out as soon as my running partner is ready! We are also training for a half. When I signed up for this, I was anticipating snow. Unfortunately, we have a rainy day here in Chicago! I missed my weekly long run last week due to a cold, so I'm not sure how my time will be. My goal is to be around a 10 minute…

1st week of December= 19.22 miles (Dec 1= 4.48, Dec 2= 9.54, Dec 4= 5.2 miles) (I was planning on that number being much higher... but I did NOT plan on catching a bad cold! Hopefully next week will look better!)

Great ideas! Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing! I signed up too!

Yum! I think I have all those ingredients without a trip to the grocery store! I will have to try this right away! Thanks for sharing!

Hi there! I had to take a break in November thanks to an injury, but I'm back in action! I decided, kind of on a whim, to run my first half on January 12. I'm going to shoot for 100 miles this month. Thanks, HH

Yay! I am going to do the Polar Dash half too! We'll have to meet up! Are you following a training plan? Since I only have 6 weeks, I'm going to just skip to week 5 of the Hal Higdon plan and see how it goes!

That is great news for you! How did the treadmill go? I rested completely for 5 days in a row and went to my yoga class on Tuesday. I had a race today. I was feeling absolutely fine for the past two days, but I really struggled in my race today. Pain set in around the second mile. (Not excrutiating, but uncomfortable.)…

I have only been gluten free since September 30. I have not been officially diagnosed with Celiac or any gluten sensitivity, but also suspected it. I feel like it is hard to tell if there are really changes, or if I'm just seeing what I expected to! I do feel better and have more energy. I'm not finding it as difficult as…

Thanks! I hope you are feeling better too!

Hello! It is called "GlutenCheck". It is so great to have while shopping!

I think that I'm going to do the Chicago Get Lucky Half Marathon on March 16, 2013. Possibly the Chicago Polar Dash 10K on January 12. I am registered for a local 6 mile "Pumpkin Plod" on Thanksgiving. I'm hoping an injury doesn't keep me from being able to do it.

Oh no! That is what I'm afraid of! The doctor seemed to think a couple weeks of rest would do the trick, but now it seems like I'm going to need more. Walking is a challenge at the moment. I'm so afraid that the progress I made will go down the drain! Do you use the elliptical? How about yoga or any strength training? I…

That gives me some peace of mind! This is definitely a learning process for me. I don't really feel like I'm all that limited, but I find myself overthinking my meals. I'm sure with time it will become second nature. Thank you!

I have seen gluten free options listed online for Olive Garden, TGI Fridays, and I believe Chili's. Cooper's Hawk Winery has a gluten free section on their menu. I rarely eat fast food anymore, but I was able to find a free iphone app called "Gluten Free Fast Food" that lists all menu items for all the major chains. I'm…

Thanks for the advice! After following a specific plan for 10 weeks, I just feel like I need to make a change. Right now I do yoga once a week, strength training twice a week, and run 5 days a week. I'm going to spend a few days resting and give some thought to my next step. RunnerInVT, I've been curious about how the HH…

I have only been gluten free for 5 weeks now. I decided to try it because I'm anemic. The low iron really affects my running and a friend with Celiacs suggested that this may also be my problem. I have not been diagnosed by a doctor, but I thought I would try altering my diet to see if I notice some positive changes. As…
