Thanks for posting this! I have a hard time calling myself a runner. I do exactly what you said- downplay my accomplishments and always say something like, "Oh, I'm just a rookie!" when someone brings up running. I'm going to work on changing that perception of myself!

Great job, Amy!

I'm not sure anything could get me pumped at 5:30 a.m., but I agree! There are some other cardio/ workout stations on there, but I don't like them as much.

Yay! Looks like I'll finally make it this month! I got my bike out this week and rode a few miles, took my friend's dog on a long walk one day, and started the Bridge to 10K program this week. Lovin' this nice weather! Good luck everyone, and have a great week!
-
It sounds like lots of you are also interested in working up to a 10K. I am doing week 1 of the Bridge to 10K right now. If anyone would like to join me, I'd love the support! (And I'd also just kinda like to talk about it with someone who "gets it"! I get the feeling my non-running friends are tired of hearing about my…

I have been going through the same thing recently. I'm certain that the weather is a big factor, but I think I noticed the fatigue after I started incorporating strength training and yoga into my routine. I decided to just stick with it but reduce the running time some days. It seems like I've gotten my momentum back now.…

I agree with the other posters- I consider quitting smoking the most important of the three. I personally was so afraid that if I deprived myself of everything, I'd go back to cigarettes. But that's just me!! If you can manage all three, go for it! I wouldn't think that you are just making excuses if you just focused on…

I never get tired of reading NSVs! And I've had a few of my own lately that I'm pretty excited about (which is great since I'm not having too many SVs since I started this process!) My NSV of the day... I'm a teacher, and today I was holding up a textbook to show the class a picture. I lost my train of thought because when…

On the (very) few occasions that I did it, I logged it as circuit training. A friend of mine does it using her HRM, and burns about 265 calories for level 2. The circuit training for 20 minutes was pretty close the that amount, so I'd say it's pretty accurate.

The unexpected warm weather has really gotten me motivated to get outside and get moving! Shorts and a tank top in Chicago in March? I'll take it!!! 28.33 miles this week (14.04 running, and walking the rest). Tomorrow I'm going for a bike ride and I can't wait! Have a great week! Thanks for being here and holding me…

That is my #1 too!

I NEVER listened to music while I worked out until recently. Walking or running was just a way to clear my head and I enjoyed hearing nothing! (Of course my friends think I'm nuts.) I completed C25K on New Year's Day, and I decided to try music after that. At first it was really tough. My pace and breathing were really off…

Same here! One day I threw on a pair of workout pants that I had not worn in about a year. I had to stop jogging because I could not keep them up! That is the best reason I can think of to give up on a workout!

I went to my second bikram class today. I have a feeling I'm going to have a hard time moving tomorrow, but I love it! Right now I'm only going once a week. I think I'm going to have to incorporate some of the moves throughout the week so my muscles aren't so sore!
-
16.79 miles more this week. I've also started taking a yoga class. I'm going to shoot for 25 miles next week.
-
I just went to my first class a few days ago. (I also bought a 10-pass groupon.) The class that I went to was not strictly bikram but it was HOT!!! I have major issues in hot weather, so I worried that I would not feel well afterwards. I was pleasantly surprised! The heat felt good in contrast to the cold outside! Don't…

I keep a "skinny" picture on my fridge from my 30th birthday (almost 8 years ago)... and thanks to facebook there are endless "chubby" pictures from the past couple years at my fingertips. Right now I'm somewhere in between. My goal is to lose a few more pounds and stay there. A friend said something to me recently that I…

Your story is inspirational! Thanks for the advice!
-
Great advice! Thank you! My biggest issue is #3!!! If I don't buy it, I won't eat it!
-
Thanks, I did try something new today! I went to a yoga class with friends instead of running by myself. A nice change of pace!
-
Thanks! Good advice! I've been tempted to "cheat" and leave some things off MFP... but I would only be lying to myself!
-
3 more miles yesterday... So I'm at a total of 7.72 for week 1 of March.
-
Do you have a balance ball? For sore shoulders and back, stretches with the balance ball always help me!
-
My goal is 100 miles again for this month. I'm starting to do some other workouts like Tae Bo and yoga, so my running will probably decrease a bit. My goal is to also at least walk a couple miles on days when I don't go for a run.
-
3.6 today... so about 74 month to date. Since I'm unlikely to do 26 miles tomorrow, looks like I'm under goal. BUT, if I can do 74 miles in the winter, I can do oh so much more when the weather warms up!
-
9.32 more... 4.77 on Saturday and 4.55 today. So, I'm right around 71 month to date.
-
I love STASH brand... lemon ginger and chai green tea are my favorites. I add a little skim milk to the chai.
-
3 more miles today... all walking. I have a cold and I'm soooooo sore from starting the 30 day shred! Total of 62 for February so far.
-
I started "shredding": again last night. My friend and I are going to try doing it two days a week, and run four other days. Yesterday I ran and then did the DVD. Considering that my muscles are more sore right now than they have been in forever, I think it is probably better for me to alternate. OUCH! It has been a long…
-
My ticker isn't updating either! I did the 30 day shred tonight, so I shortened my run... only 2.05 miles today (1.5 run and .55 walk). That brings me up to about 59. I'm way off target again this month. Maybe March will be my month!
