I started at close to the same weight as you (253 lbs), started out with just walking, then moved on after about three months to the 30 Day Shred from Jillian Michaels. She kicks your butt, but it's a great way to build some strength. I only just joined the gym a few weeks ago; the first six 1/2 months were all on my own.

I used to feel that way, too, and it got in my way for a really long time. But after a few months of just walking outside on my own, losing some weight, and feeling more confident, I find now that it doesn't bother me at all. I joined a gym this month and I'm doing everything all the fit people are doing. In my opinion,…

I don't know what your exercise regimen is like, but if you're having trouble with calories and not feeling like you're getting enough to eat, maybe try doing strength/resistance training. You can eat more when you're working out harder.

I only just got rid of my bigger clothes this last weekend. I think there was a part of me that was afraid of committing like that, saying that I'm never going to need them again. But now that they're gone I feel great!

Steno because I'm a stenographic court reporter; Bun because my husband calls me bunny. :)

I started 253 and it took about 30 pounds before people started to notice. Now at 42 pounds more people are saying stuff to me about it. It's great!

I don't think it's "not much." I did the Shred and I know how hard it is. Good for you. You worked hard!

I have been cycling the 30DS for the last couple of months and just bought the 6-Pack Abs today. She gives you really comprehensive workouts, strength/resistance and cardio plus ab workouts. I only lost about 5 pounds my first time through the 30DS, but I know I lost a lot of inches.

Here's what got me going. My husband, who is also my best friend, told me very sweetly that I was beautiful but he worried about my health. He wants me around for a long time so we can have a happy life together. You don't necessarily need to be hurtful. Tell him you worry about him.

I was about 230 when I started and I've done one full round and started my second two weeks ago. I'm 214 now. I have to modify some of the plank moves, but trust me, you can do it.

Thanks for sharing your story. You are definitely an inspiration, and you've given me hope that I can get there, too.

I know what you mean. Patience is something I've struggled with, too, and I feel so much better now that I'm not beating myself up every day and just being patient instead. :)

I don't think you can pin it on him at all. Just do what you do when he's gone and let him eat whatever he wants.
-
Your friend is kinda dumb. BTW, I'd love to weigh 145 pounds. I think you're doing fantastic.
-
Have you tried the 30 Day Shred? I built a lot of muscle doing that.
-
Good for you! I just started running and I can only do it for one minute so far, so I definitely know firsthand how hard you're working. You should be really proud of yourself.

I'm waiting to get mine back from the jeweller on Friday. I went from a 7 to a 5 3/4.

I'm 36, I started my journey in mid-August of '12 with the goal of 110 pounds. I'm 37 down now.

That's exactly how I feel every time I do short running intervals. I'm also not a "runner" yet, but I never even thought it was a possibility before I started doing a little bit of it. Thanks for sharing this.

I can't WAIT until I don't have to shop at Lane Bryant and Avenue and Fashion Bug anymore. :):)

I had a lot of success at Curves, lost about 65 pounds over the course of a year, and that was without really modifying my eating very much. I stopped working out and gained about 50 pounds of it back, hence MFP. :( I really liked the Curves workout. Wasn't crazy about the Christian rock they insisted on playing, though.

My starting weight last August was 254. I was down about 30 pounds when I started the Shred, and I just wrapped up my first go-round. This morning I started it again, only doing the more challenging moves with heavier weights. I didn't take my measurements, but I know I lost a lot of inches and gained a lot of muscle. I've…

Aww! Thank you!
-
It's completely possible! Just start small and you'll get there.
-
You know, doing it in short bursts makes it seem a lot more manageable. Plus, calculating the time in my head until the next burst makes the entire workout go by much faster.
-
That's phenomenal! I aspire to be where you are! :)
-
You should! I'm the originial if-I-can-do-it-anybody-can-do-it girl! :)

That happened to me when I put on my fall jacket I've had for a few years. It's a great feeling and a total motivator to keep going!! Congrats.

I know how you're feeling, Doug. I sometimes feel totally mystified after the scale stalls for two or three weeks and then there's a huge drop. I'm always happy to see it, though!
