  • Those that use their immersion blenders to make protein shakes (I have tried this yet, I always pull out my big blender)...are you using the immersion blender to blend ice into the shakes, too? :o
  • Besides soup, I use my immersion blender to whip cream (it's great because I can whip cream in a mug and have an appropriate portion. Before that, I would use my KitchenAid and I always ended up with way more whipped cream than I needed). I also use it to blend my Bullet Proof Coffee in the morning.
  • A couple years ago I did 5:2 for 2-3 months and lost 15lbs. I liked it because I could still eat (that is, my 500 calorie days were fasting days but I could still have two small meals). The idea of going a whole 24 hours without sounded really overwhelming. Edit: I should say, I didn't lose 15lbs just because I was doing…

  • I'm curious, does anyone follow this OMAD (I had to look that up) or IF style of eating and also strength train?
  • Jeez, that sounds amazing (your friday-space). :open_mouth:
  • Is that order of preference?
  • Hi, thanks for your response. I've had this thought nagging at the back of my head...that I probably need to break down and purchase some training sessions so that I have a solid foundation for lifting. As I mentioned earlier, I don't really think my gym is the ideal place for this kind of training. I know of at least 3 or…
  • Thanks! Yes, there is at least one leg press machine with plates. Great idea.
  • I think you're right, it is Romanian deadlifts. I use a couple of different Google sheets trackers that other people made for the program, and they've been "tweaked" a little bit. Since I don't always have the book with me, I sometimes just do what's in the Google sheet, which I think includes dumb bells for the deadlift.…
  • Wow, thanks everybody. Lots of great advice. I solemnly swear to never touch the Smith machine for deadlifts ever again (is it okay for other weight lifting moves, or should I avoid it entirely?) I am kind of disappointed in PF. I chose it because it's literally at the end of my street, and quite frankly, I needed that…
  • My goal was 1600/day, but I raised it to 1750-1800 since I started weight lifting 3-4 days a week. I think a lot of my meals still, apply though. Breakfast: Morngingstar Farms veggie patties. 170 calories for 2, somewhere around 18g of protein and 6g of carbs. They're tasty and keep me going. I had one veggie patty and one…
  • OP, I'm only reading and I feel your pain. :D o:)
  • I weigh my stuff after it's cooked, 1) that's what I was first told (here on MFP, haha), 2) it seems easier to me, and 3) it's just a habit now. Shrug...
  • I'm curious about the sugar free maple syrup. What's the replacement sweetener? I've been flirting with keto, but I'm not totally committed (yet), definitely aiming for low carb/high fat/medium protein diet right now. My biggest problem with keto is that I can't stand any sort of sugar substitute (even if it's "natural",…
  • You can do it! I know the feeling of something that seems small but is really encouraging. We need to embrace those moments. We know ourselves best, so we know when something like a 6lb loss is significant. It's things like that which keep us going. :)
  • Re: peeling boiled eggs: Definitely let eggs cool and sit in your refrigerator for a few hours (preferably overnight). Also, from what I've read and also my own personal experience, the older the egg = the easier it peels. This works out well for me because I often end up boiling a passel of eggs when I've had the carton…
  • I live next door in Idaho, and I've been visiting the Rogue brewery in Newport since I was a kid (my parents are big fans). As I've gotten older and become a beer enthusiast myself, I personally find Rogue to be a little overrated. Admittedly, they're known for good reasons and I understand they were one of the first…
  • Impossible to choose just one! One of my favorite beers ever is Old Rasputin (Russian Imperial Stout) from North Coast Brewing. Delicious on tap/nitro, mmm creamy...and a fantastic cold-weather, winter beer. I just went to a dark beer event at a local brewery here in Boise and sampled quite a few delicious imperial stouts.…
  • I was also advised to lower my carb intake by my doctor due to really high triglycerides (sigh). She actually went over my MFP food diary with me to look how I could improve, but mostly pointed out where I was eating too many carbs, instead of providing suggestions for what to eat instead. I went to Google. There's a lot…
  • Similar, I'm 25. I'm one semester away from finishing my Masters; I go to school full-time; I work almost full-time (~35 hours/week); I'm constantly volunteering for stuff related to my industry/program at school (for some God forsaken reason); and find it really hard to fit in exercise. I've had to start making BIG…
  • Well, then you're not going to get any advice because literally the only decent advice in this situation is to dump him and gtfo. Just based on your post, this relationship seems abusive, controlling, and possibly narcissistic. Unfortunately, only you can make the decision to leave. And leaving is the only thing that's…
  • It's that darn green bean casserole that always gets me. Well, let's be honest, any casserole made with a "cream of" soup and cheese. *drool* I'm competing in a Biggest Loser contest at work right now and it's actually the fastest I've seen my weight drop, ever. My husband and I are also making some great changes/habits…
  • Wow! AnnPT77, that looks like such a huge improvement. Thanks for sharing your perspective.
  • My overall right now is 220, I don't remember the other numbers specifically because I don't have the report right in front of me - although I believe my HDL was around 37 and my doc told me it should be at least 50. That feels like so much! And golly gosh, I feel your pain. I'm also a smoker. *embarassed* That's something…
  • I could be in the same boat. My doctor did say that since it is also genetic for me, even if I do really well with diet and exercise, I could still end up needing to be on medication. :( Either way, I have to try.
  • I wanted to be a ballerina/author. I'm a technical writer.
