  • I dream of Beecher's. I actually tried to arrange a layover at JFK so I could take the train from the airport to downtown as NYC also has one. I almost spent $50 on transportation just for a bowl of that deliciousness. D$($# delayed flight!!!!!
  • I LOVE LOVE LOVE pigeon pose. It is one of my favorite stretches and might be helpful to you here. I of course am not limber enough to do it with my chest upright but I do lean my head on my fists. It would definitely help. Remember not to overdo stretching either, that is the opposite of helpful!
  • Training for my first full marathon. I am going to die. Feel free to send me a friend request and laugh while I whine about my struggles. ;)
  • The local running group sponsors a lot of the local races and does a good bit of vomunteering at other ones. For me, I am new(er) to this area so it would be great to meet some other people with my interests :)
  • My goals are as follows: Run (and survive) my first marathon: TBD-it is in October. Run with foot pain free-failing miserably Run despite vacation, child emergencies, tiredness, etc-I am actually doing okay here. I didn't completely loaf off during vacation! :)
  • If this is the line where the fairy godmother grants the wishes, I am here and holding my spot 1. I want my husband home like tomorrow instead of "sometime around Christmas." 2. I want to be at goal weight when I wake up 3. I would like to run single digit time for my miles. Anything below 10mm is fine. Not being greedy.…
  • 1. I love to sleep. SO much that my kid actually wrote that on one of his mother's day activities when the paper asked what his mom likes. 2. I like to run 3. I dont want to be fat So I run after work. Like 8pm-ish. On weekends a little earlier since i don't have to work and rush home to take care of my kids. It works for…
  • I practice hot yoga. I LOVE IT When I started downward facing dog was hard, I could hardly support myself on my arms. Now I can go to wheel pose!!!! ANd while I still feel like dying-hot yoga is HOT- I feel stronger in many ways now. You can do it, it is awesome!!!! I even recruited a friend who is a self proclaimed cardio…
  • Talking to myself for X number of miles, I can work out everything in my head running on a trail next to my dog who is just the happiest freaking thing in the world to be outside running the thought of my body getting healthier and stronger going farther and faster over time
  • I would DIE. If that was the requirement for outrunning the zombies, I am just going to go ahead and fall down on the ground. OP, is there a time you are looking for? Good for what? Like winning your age group, winning overall, just being able to say you are in decent shape? My mile time SUCKS. But then again,…
  • They used to call that a corset and it squeezed your organs. Whaaaaat da flllllluuuccck is wrong with you people???!!!! :noway:
  • (1) What are the best socks for long distance running? Well during winter I love my smart wool and actually have some lightweight summer ones. I also have four pairs of Drymax from Road Runner Sports that I love. And a few pairs of Asics. Anything that helps you avoid blisters ;) (2) How useful is a GPS/heart rate monitor…
  • Lol I bought it on accident. Got a free trial to save money and then forgot to cancel. Expensive way to save $5. Think I am negative $45 at this point. :ohwell:
  • If wine is wrong, I don't want to be right.
  • The RNR Raleigh pretty much sucked. It was pretty hilly and hot. I don't mind the hills as much as the lack of shade. I do have to giggle every time about my favorite moment. It is mile 11, we come around a corner that you can't see around and look up: a pretty steep and long freaking hill. The guy behind me says "Oh…
  • I should have considered that running a fall marathon means training during summer aka humid hell. :noway:
  • You about died and still are at my dream goal time for October :noway: :drinker: That is a huge temp climb. This wonky weather is hard on runners! But you finished and now have a lesson to carry on to your next one. So when is the next one?
  • <--- has a pink sticker from my first 13.1 I went from weighing 220 pounds and barely able to do the first week increments of the C25k to losing 60 pounds and running my first half in under 2 hours. All while going to grad school, having two toddlers, and my husband was deployed. You can take that sticker off my car when…
  • Ummm not sure why my post seemed offensive... but just wanted to show you that those are things that can be ate to help you make your goal. I used to work in the catering dept of our college cafeteria (aka, we fed the President of the University). They don't have rice and veggies and chicken???? Is it a really small…
  • Copied from the interwebs. You are welcome "Here's how much of each food group you should be eating for a well-balanced 2,000-calorie-a-day diet—as well as some ways to eat the right amount. FRUITS & VEGETABLES How much you should be eating if you need 2,000 calories a day: 2 cups fruit, 2 1/2 cups vegetables What a daily…
  • x2 I personally am not a fast runner. My best half came from a lot of tempo runs. My worst half is probably about to come as I am 3 weeks behind my schedule. Training and mileage-they are your deciding factors. I won't ever been Kara Goucher, but I also would like to not be narrowly ahead of the sweeps bus! :)
  • EVERY time I finish a run these days, I thank whomever it was that invited the hot water heater and the shower head. Best.inventions. EVER (Though I will say I was out for a 10 miler once that started off cold and about 45 minutes in, the weather switched and it was 92 when I finished. I dreamed of a glass of water. I was…
  • I tried to run a half marathon 8 months after starting to run. Six weeks of a boot and a chronic AT problems has shown me the error of my ways :) Haha There are a ton of program that can you build your base slowly and surely. S L O W L Y being the key word. It is more than just lungs and aerobic fitness that has to be…
  • Here is my problem with "my kids don't like exercise." Stop calling it exercise. Find something fun. My youngest son doesn't like to run (breaks his mother's heart lol). But I signed them up to start rock climbing at a local climbing gym. He LOVES it. And it is a great workout. He also likes to do yoga with me (as long as…
  • When I started running 8'years ago, we lived in Washington. So you sucked it up and ran in the rain. Now when I run in it, I think about those days when I was just starting and every day was a new PR. It makes me happy.
  • Slow. One of my jackalope coworkers today told me my pace isnt running and I should just stop. I am planning his death in slow, painful ways But otherwise, I love distance. It takes me a while to find my happy pace with my groove and I am a good kicker (late push in the race) so anything 10k-half marathon is my favorite. I…
  • Subjective. I run. Though at my running pace, my husband can do a little stutter step and walk next to me. Which is why I love/hate him :noway:  I am slow. Super slow. I know people define it in terms of time, but my effort and time don't match. My fastest race pace juuuuust barely puts me at "running" status. And I…
  • I think some of you are missing the mental health aspect of it. It isn't saying eating healthy or exercising is bad. With ON, the obsession with healthy eating and exercising becomes skewed-it takes on an all encompassing focus to the detriment of other activities and functions in life. The focus on rigidity and punishment…
  • I just got put on it and started my dosing yesterday. I am at 500mg once a day for two weeks and will gradually step up. My endocrinologist put me on it for PCOS symptoms. I have irregular periods (I spot a lot and blleed twice a month and it is so heavy I basically have to wear a diaper lol), acne (which i NEVER had as a…
  • I run with my Dobie mix right now. She is 8 months old and a bundle of energy. I had her hips xrayed so I could go ahead and start running with her as I couldn't wear her out by walking her. I can barely make a dent in her energy by running her lol My coonhound, now, he won't run. He loves to put on his leash, but the…
